LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA - AUGUST 05: LeBron James #23 of the Los Angeles Lakers kneels during the national anthem prior to the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at HP Field House at ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex on August 05, 2020 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. LeBron Jame is not worried about Donald Trump’s negative criticism.
LeBron James is more than just a star in the game of basketball. His voice carries weight off the court as well, and he has morphed into a true public figure in society.
James has always used his wealth to give back to those less fortunate and makes sure to back up his words with action. That is why he doesn’t appear too concerned about negative and expected comments from President Donald Trump about NBA players kneeling during the national anthem.
After Donald Trump calls NBA players kneeling during the anthem "disgraceful, and says it makes him turn off games, LeBron James answers: "The game will go on without his eyes on it. I can sit here and speak for all of us that love the game of basketball – we could care less."

Grammar nerds will notice the mistake with what James said, but let’s ignore that.
James is right in saying the NBA will be just fine if Trump isn’t watching after the president called the players’ choice to kneel “disgraceful” and said he would turn off the game when he sees it happen. It is highly unlikely Trump was watching in the first place, and speaking out against players kneeling during the national anthem is just another popular talking point of his.
The Los Angeles Lakers star has been around long enough to know that Trump’s comments are not even worth engaging. Basketball fans are tuning in and it is clear the game is not suffering from some drastic dip in popularity. Those who turn the games off because of the kneeling form a small minority compared to those who continue watching to support their team.RELATED PRODUCTTailgate Mens LA Lakers Crew Neck Sweatshirt Prep Purple SBuy Now!Buy Now!
A United States president commenting on what happens in the NBA sure is bizarre, but that’s just the nature of our society in 2020. Those taking a knee are seeking to end up on the right side of history, and it should be clear that those vehemently opposing a peaceful protest are on the wrong side.Next: NBA owners donating $300 million to Black communities
James is an ambassador for the game, and it is great he can speak out on such issues and support the entire league with a single statement.

New Documentary Totally Under Control Exposes Trumps Massive Failures in Handling COVID-19 Pandemic
In January, President Trump declared the COVID-19 pandemic was “totally under control.” Over nine months later, over 220,000 Americans have died from the virus and there are no signs of an end to the pandemic.
Filmed in secret over five months, the new documentary “Totally Under Control” compiles news footage and interviews with medical experts and government whistleblowers to show how Trump and his administration failed to prevent the virus from spreading in the U.S.
Alex Gibney, an Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker, along with Suzanne Hillinger and Ophelia Harutyunyan, follow the Trump administration’s slow reaction to the pandemic, revealing just how many warnings went unheeded.
Back in January, Trump and his administration were repeatedly warned of the impact of COVID-19 on Americans’ lives but dismissed advice from public health officials. In a February interview with Bob Woodward, Trump explained that he had prior knowledge of the virus and purposefully downplayed its severity. The Obama administration even left a pandemic playbook to help Trump’s administration respond to a potential global disease outbreak. Instead, Trump and his administration eschewed scientific advice at every turn, even spreading the virus themselves to White House staff and ordinary Americans.
“This is not something that just happened, that had to be this way,” Gibney told EW. “We could have contained this. So much of the damage and so many of the deaths could have been prevented.”
“Totally Under Control” outlines the mountain of failures in the government’s response to the pandemic. Testing was delayed, public health efforts were defunded or tampered with, medical supplies were politicized, and the president himself downplayed the threat in every public event.
“The key theme here is science versus politics,” Gibney told EW. “It’s so important that a nation doesn’t allow its scientific evidence to be undermined by political exigencies. It’s a super important lesson for us, for citizens to insist that they get the real dope, and hear it from the mouths of scientists, not from politicians who are trying to twist their words.”

The documentary contrasts the response from the Trump administration with that of South Korea. While both developed nations faced their first cases on the same day in January, South Korea has avoided mass shutdowns and economic catastrophic even reopening their nightclubs, stadiums, and schools. The filmmakers attribute the success to South Korea’s ability to “set politics aside” and prioritize public health.
With less than two weeks until Election Day, the filmmakers decided to released the documentary “at a time when they were making a critical choice about the future of the country.”
“Totally Under Control” is now available on Hulu.
