BEDFORD, Massachusetts -- Police said it was a mother's instinct that helped save her 8-year-old son who was nearly suffocated by a seat belt.
When 8-year-old Brayden yelled out to his mom that he couldn't breathe, she pulled the car over and saw he had pulled his seat belt loose and it was wrapped around his neck.

"Before I could even process anything, he was basically hanging from the ceiling," Brayden's mom Siobhan Sherbovich said.
Sherbovich saw her son was turning blue but instead of panicking, she knew she had to save her son and rant to a nearby hair salon and asked for scissors.
"At the time, I didn't know if it was open or not," Sherbovich said. "I was ready to break down windows."

Daisey LaCourse, a hairstylist at the salon, tried to help Sherbovich and called 911.
Sherbovich eventually managed to free her son, administered CPR and got him breathing again.

"And I cut him loose from the top of the ceiling. And he falls out of the car just completely unconscious onto the ground," she said. "He just went, 'What happened? I'm OK.' And just stared at me looking like he was from another planet."
Police said her quick thinking and not panicking helped save the 8-year-old.

"Let's face it. Police and fire are trained on how to handle this type situation. There's no playbook on a parent how to do it. For her to keep cool, to go into a facility, a salon, get a pair of scissors, come out, cut the seat belt off her son, begin CPR and essentially save his life is just absolutely amazing," Bedford police Chief Bob Bongiorno said.

Brave boy, 6, calls 911 after seeing his mom shot dead and dad left fighting for life in ambush by armed robbers
A BRAVE boy called 911 after seeing two armed robbers kill his mom and shoot his dad in the neck while they were changing a tire in Indiana.
The robbers shot Wilma, 40, and Jonathan Hochstetler during a horrific roadside ambush while their petrified six-year-old son Bradon hid nearby, say reports.940-year-old Wilma Hochstetler and her husband Jonathan have four childrenCredit: Gofundme 9Wilma and Jonathan Hochstetler met at churchCredit: Facebook 9The couple's brave six-year-old boy helped his critically wounded dad phone the cops for helpCredit: Facebook
Police in Indiana are looking for the two men who robbed then shot the religious couple who have four kids aged six, ten, 13 and 16.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Samone Burris said cops found the pair suffering from gunshot wounds at about 1.30am on Thursday, September 17.
Wilma was pronounced dead on Thursday night, and Jonathan - who somehow survived - has undergone surgery to mend broken bones in his neck and jaw, says his father.
Sam Hochstetler, Jonathan's dad, told the Indy Star that a tire on his son's trailer had burst.
Jonathan sent two workers from his roof and gutter firm with the truck to Worthington, about an hour and a half from Indianapolis.
His wife then drove to Indianapolis with the truck, a spare trailer tire and the couple's youngest son.
Sam said that after fixing the tire, they were about to leave when they realised the trailer lights weren't working due to wiring issues.
While they were repairing the lights, two armed men stopped nearby, threatened to shoot them and robbed their money and Wilma's cellphone, he added.
Jonathan told his dad that as the men walked off, "all of a sudden, they just turned and shot.9Cops are still searching for the robbers who gunned down the coupleCredit: Wish-TV 9Police in Indianapolis are looking for two armed men who shot and killed a mother of fourCredit: Wish-TV 9The religious couple were ambushed at the roadside while fixing a trailerCredit: WISH-TV
"His wife was instantly killed. Jonathan was hit through the neck."
Incredibly, despite being critically wounded, Jonathan made it back to the car, where his son was hiding, and the cops were phoned.
Sam said his son remains in hospital, and his grandson is now being taken care of by relatives, after initially being looked after by the Child Protective Services.
The grandfather added that the traumatised boy said, "I wish they didn’t shoot my mommy" as soon as he got home.
Andrew Yutzy, a family friend, told WLOX that the robbers had "turned around and just point-blank shot Wilma and then Jonathan".

Bradon said, "Mom’s gonna get up again," recalled Andrew, adding, "he doesn’t realize that his mom is gone."
Andrew has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family, which has so far received almost $135,000 in donations towards funeral "and recovery costs".
The online page says "Wilma has passed away and Jonathan is at the hospital and expected to survive.
"We can’t imagine the devastation. Please lift them up in prayers.
"Life will never be the same and this is a small way to help them."

Wilma had met her husband-to-be as a teenager, and the couple worshipped at the same church.
Their friend Andrew described them as "shy people" who would "literally give the shirt off their back, if it would help you".
WLOX says that while officials have not as yet publicly released the robbers' descriptions, anybody with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers.9Jonathan and Wilma Hochstetler were the victims of a shootingCredit: WISH-TV
