Michelle Obama mirrored on the “heartbreaking” time when her brother, Craig Robinson, was accused of stealing his personal bicycle by the Chicago police when he was about 10 years previous.

The previous first girl, 56, invited Craig, now 58, and their mom Marian Robinson, 83, onto the Michelle Obama Podcast, the place the trio spoke about police brutality.

One reminiscence that stood out was when a Craig was accused of stealing his personal bike: a yellow 10-speed bike that his mother and father had purchased for him on the retailer Goldblatt’s in Chicago.

“It was terrifying solely as a result of I used to be at all times taught that the police are your pals they usually’ll consider the reality,” Craig stated on Wednesday’s episode.

He remembered through the incident two Chicago law enforcement officials stopped him whereas he was using his bike.

“This man grabbed my bike and he wouldn’t let it go,” Craig stated, recalling that the officers had been asking him inquiries to purposefully journey him up.

“I used to be like, ‘Oh you bought this all incorrect, that is my bike, don’t fear, this isn’t a stolen bike,’ and he wouldn’t consider me.”

“I used to be completely heartbroken,” he continued, “And I lastly stated to him, ‘Pay attention, you’ll be able to take me to my home and I’ll show to you that is my bike.’”

When the cops introduced him again on the Robinson residence, his mom, Marian — who “had that tight lip” was ready to defend her son.

Marian confronted the law enforcement officials, who had been each black, about why the saved urgent Craig, and one lastly admitted he knew her son was telling the reality.

Craig referred to as the expertise “heartbreaking,” particularly as a result of he felt the cops had been attempting to “journey” him up when questioning him about the place he received the bike.

Michelle Obama stated the incident underscored the truth black Individuals face when coping with regulation enforcement.

“Whenever you go away that security of your private home and exit into the road, the place being black is against the law in and of itself, we have now all needed to discover ways to function,” she stated.

New video shows a Revel moped going up in flames in Brooklyn over the weekend.

Video posted on Reddit Sunday shows the blazing rental bike at the corner of Lafayette and Nostrand avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

In the video, a man in an FDNY uniform looks on as the scooter burns.

Photos posted separately on Twitter appeared to show the aftermath of the incident — the back half of the bike burnt to a crisp and shards of burnt cardboard strewn around it.

It’s unclear how the bike ended up in flames. The FDNY didn’t immediately have any information about the fire.

“We are aware that a Revel moped in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood was damaged by fire last night, and we are investigating the cause of the incident,” a Revel spokesperson told The Post on Monday.

The app-based moped sharing company returned to New York City streets in August after a month-long hiatus spurred by three fatal crashes in the span of 10 days.
