The Arizona Cardinals have signed safety Curtis Riley off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.

Riley was one of the four practice squad players protected by the Steelers last week. He was not among the team’s four protected members this week and the Cardinals seized the chance to pick him off the practice squad.

Riley made the Steelers initial 53-man roster before being released the following day after the addition of free agent defensive back Sean Davis. He was then re-signed to the team’s practice squad.

Riley has appeared in 43 career games with 19 starts over four seasons spent with the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants and Oakland Raiders.

Riley could be set to replace safety Jalen Thompson on the roster for Arizona. Thompson injured his ankle in the team’s win over the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday and did not participate in practice on Wednesday. If he heads to the injured reserve list, that would open a roster spot for Riley’s addition.

Ben Roethlisberger makes Steelers history on Sunday against Texans

Ben Roethlisberger’s legendary career with the Pittsburgh Steelers continued on Sunday, as he’s made even more team history.

There will never be a quarterback quite like Roethlisberger for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The future Hall of Famer has had a sensational career, helping bring home multiple Super Bowl titles to the Steel City.

On Sunday, Roethlisberger actually made some pretty special team history the second he set foot on the gridiron to take on the Houston Texans. The man stands alone at the top of the list for the most career games donning a Pittsburgh uniform.

Ben Roethlisberger has now played in 221 career games for the #Steelers, a franchise record – topping the previous mark of 220 by C Mike Webster.

Ben Roethlisberger has now played in 221 career games for the Pittsburgh Steelers

For Roethlisberger, this is just another massive mark he’s been able to reach during his playing days. A superstar signal-caller, the veteran quarterback entered Sunday’s game with the Houston Texans with more than 57,000 passing yards to his name and 368 touchdowns.

Unfortunately for him, Roethlisberger was only able to play in two games last year before missing the rest of the campaign due to elbow surgery. However, he’s returned to outstanding form thus far in 2020. In Pittsburgh’s first two wins of the year, Roethlisberger has thrown for 540 yards and five touchdowns.

It’s of course been great to see for Steelers fans everywhere. When Roethlisberger was sidelined last year, you could see just how much this team missed him in action. He’s a team leader and really fires up the younger players on the team.

You can see the difference Roethlisberger makes whenever he’s on the field. And now, he has the honor of saying he’s rocked a Steelers jersey on a game day more than any other player in team history. You better believe that means a lot to him.
