The president’s campaign has sent out a number of emails in recent days offering Trump fans the chance to enter a raffle to win tickets to the party that will be attended by members of “Team Trump.”
The emails, which are signed by the president, don’t say which hotel will host the party, but advertise the opportunity “to join Team Trump at the Election Night Party in my favorite hotel.”
“November 3rd will go down in history as the night we won FOUR MORE YEARS. It will be absolutely EPIC, and the only thing that could make it better is having YOU there,” one of the emails reads.
Since his election, the president and the Republican National Committee have hosted a number of events at his hotel in the Old Post office building near the White House. Trump leases the building from the federal government.
Critics have blasted the president for the practice, arguing he’s funneled money from his public life into his businesses.
The local government in the District of Columbia has capped gatherings to under 50 people amid the coronavirus pandemic. Trump has worked around those restrictions at other gatherings by holding them on federal property.
