CHICAGO (CBS)– The federal government executed its first female prisoner in almost 70 years.
Lisa Montgomery, 52, was pronounced dead at 12:31 a.m. Wednesday by lethal injection in Terre Haute, Indiana after being convicted in 2007 of federal kidnapping resulting in death.
She was convicted of killing a pregnant woman, then cutting her open and kidnapping her baby.
The baby did survive.Montgomery was sentenced to death. Her lawyers were trying to stop the execution, saying she had mental health issues.
Montgomery was the 11th federal death row prisoner to be executed by the Trump administration after a 17-year pause.

Khadijah Haqq gives birth to baby girl
Khadijah Haqq has a full house after giving birth.
The close friend of Khloé Kardashian announced on Instagram Sunday that she welcomed her third child with husband Bobby McCray.
The baby is the former NFL player’s fourth.
“We love you baby girl, you complete our family!” she captioned a photo of her family’s hands, including that of the newborn. “When 5 becomes 6.”
Friends of Haqq, 37, congratulated her in the comments. Ashlee Simpson Ross wrote, “Congrats to your beautiful family.” Tamar Braxton added, “Praise God I’m so grateful.”
In August, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum shared she was pregnant again.
She later captioned a picture of her growing bump, “A Labor of Love. It’s my great honor and pleasure to carry another life.”
In November, Haqq opened up about being hospitalized for pre-term labor.
“Pregnancy for me has always come with a multitude of challenging symptoms and scares,” she wrote. “I know I’m not alone, I just know it’s not easy to talk about for so many reasons.”
Haqq and McCray have been married since 2010. Aside from their baby girl, whose name has not been revealed, they share an 11-year-old son, Christian, and 6-year-old daughter, Celine.
