Tribal Style plays Gasparilla Music Festival in Curtis Hixon Park Tampa, Florida on March 10, 2019.Ysanne Taylor c/o Gasparilla Music Festival

Not everything that happened in 2020 was bad. Case in point: Tampa roots-reggae scene staple Tribal Style released a new album, Future Roots.

This weekend, the band will attempt to get you out of the pandemic-life funk with a Saturday set at South Pasadena’s JahVa Studio.

The band’s roots-reggae version of The Pixies “Where is My Mind?” is a solution to a lot of society’s ailments. Add rum punch and food by Island Flavors and Tings, and voila, you’re cured (your mindset at least, best to still get that vaccine when you can).

Though the event is indoors, the space is large enough to be socially-distanced and still feel safe. Plus there is a mask requirement and temperature checks at the door

Pet parlour’s Princess Leia-style towel buns for dogs go viral

THESE pups are pet-parlour primed and Luke like they’re grinning from ear to Leia.

They are all sporting towel buns which look like the hairstyle made famous by the Princess in the 1977 Star Wars movie.

Dog groomer Miyabi Chan, 35, from Florida, uses the trick to block out noise and calm them.

She said: “Everyone also loves the Princess Leia style towels that I put on the dogs before I bathe them. I do this because it helps them feel more calm.

“It feels like somebody petting them and it blocks the sound of the water a little so the more nervous dogs don’t get spooked.

“Huskies usually hate their head being touched so they sometimes shake the towel off but the other dogs absolutely love it and they look adorable when they wear it.”

Miyabi now has quite a large following across her social media pages, with thousands of people commenting on the quirky head towel technique - which she thought of when she wanted to emulate head towels at human spas.

Her posts regularly go viral online, with the videos and images of golden retrievers, huskies and French bulldogs being the most popular.

Miyabi added: “It was surprising that the videos exploded and I feel really proud to have my work put out there on a global scale.

“I just wanted to try and have some fun with my job.

“It’s all a bit of fun and cheers people up, especially with all that’s going on at the moment.”
