TAMPA — Domingo German, returning to the Yankees after a lengthy suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s domestic-violence protocols, spoke to his teammates in a pair of meetings Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone said, in an attempt to mend fences.
The right-hander spoke to his fellow Yankees pitchers as well as their catchers at the team’s player-development complex in the morning, then to the infielders and outfielders in the afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
“It was a good step,” Boone said. “I think in looking at it, it was something important to happen, and I think gave everyone the chance to kind of get in a room and really start that conversation if there’s any conversations to be had individually, which I think have happened. But I think sets the table for continuing to have those conversations while also as a team really coming around and trying to support Domingo and helping him moving forward.”
German, 28, drew an 81-game suspension for his actions on the night of Sept. 16, 2019, which cast his teammates and fellow Yankees employees as witnesses, attempted peacemakers and whistleblowers. That German’s actions toward his girlfriend happened in front of and around the Yankees heightened the tension of the situation, as veteran reliever Zack Britton made clear last week in both public comments and a tweet that were critical of German. The suspension began in 2019 and carried through all of last year’s COVID-reduced campaign.Domingo German spoke with his teammates on Tuesday.Bill Kostroun/New York Post
Because of the pandemic restrictions still in place, with the roster separated, German had to speak twice. Each meeting lasted about 30 minutes, said Boone, who called the sessions “impactful.”
The Yankees’ manager added: “Now I think the proof is going to be in what’s ahead and how he is as a teammate and how he is life in general, and hopefully we can all be there to support and help him be the best version of himself.”Filed under aaron boone , domingo german , new york yankees , 2/23/21

Frustrated woman lost five stone to stop doctors blaming her symptoms on weight and finally give her a diagnosis
The anonymous woman went from 15st to 9.6st in order to get her health complaints taken seriously.2A woman wrote a Reddit article on how she lost 75lbs (5.3st) so doctors would take her symptoms seriously
She revealed on Reddit how she was suffering from severe cramps, sleepiness, numbness, memory and balance problems among other issues - but every doctor said it was down to her weight.
The woman’s post was titled: “I lost 75 pounds so doctors would stop blaming everything on my weight.”
She explained: “I am 5'6, I was 210 lbs before and am now 135. It took me a year to lose it all, but what finally pushed me to lose the weight was because every single thing I went to a doctor for, it got blamed on my weight.
“Severe cramps? Weight. Feeling sleepy during the day? Weight. Numbness in my fingers, headaches, memory problems, balance problems? “I recently went back to my doctors, who of course applauded the weight loss and wrongly assumed all of my problems were gone.
“When I said no they hadn't, they immediately ordered an MRI, sleep study and lapro, which they hadn't done before the weight loss.”
The results of the MRI test showed she had chiari malformation, where the lower part of the brain pushes down into the spinal canal.
This pressure can obstruct the flow of fluid and cause headaches.
She added: “The sleep study/physical found out I have an oversized uvula as well as Narcolepsy, and the lapro found so much endo I lost both of my ovaries and a portion of my colon and lower intestines.
“If it had been taken seriously a year ago, I might not have lost them.
“So yea, f*** doctors. (Obviously not all of them).”

Many people were quick to give their views on her Reddit post, with one saying: “My mother had that. She fought for years to get a diagnosis. I am so sorry you had to go through all of that.”
Another added: “This is called diagnostic overshadowing and it's a real problem in medicine. Also people sadly just don't care as much about fat people.”
