Sony announced another State of Play special for Thursday afternoon, but quickly noted that there won’t be any PlayStation hardware news revealed during the thirty minute stream. Instead, we’re expecting to see previews of PS4 and PS5 games “including new game announcements and updates on some of the third-party and indie titles you last saw in June’s PS5 showcase.

Which ones exactly are unclear, but the company has already announced news around things like Days Gone coming to PC, and a delay until 2022 for Gran Turismo 7.

State of Play returns this Thursday! Tune in live at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET to see updates and deep dives for games coming to PS4 and PS5.

In the last hours, the alarms went off among Sony fans. What happens is that an insider assured that Horizon Forbidden West was delayed to 2022. That said, new information suggests that, in reality, there is nothing to fear.

The thing is, Gaming Route contacted Sony to inquire about the status of Horizon Forbidden West. The company informed him that the Guerrilla Games project is still in plans to debut before the end of 2021 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

In case you do not trust Sony’s statements, you should know that there are also reliable sources who are not sure that the project is going to be delayed. One of them is Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg journalist, who assured that this project was already delayed on one occasion.

“Maybe [Horizon Forbidden West pueda moverse a 2022], but Horizon has already been delayed on one occasion ”, were the journalist’s words.

Another point to consider is that Horizon Forbidden West began development shortly after the debut of Horizon Zero Dawn. This means that it would take a development cycle of approximately 4 years, so a debut by the end of 2021 does not seem impossible. Of course, we must also take into consideration that the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) could have impacted the plans.

Ryan assured that Horizon Forbidden West will arrive this year

It should also be remembered that a few days ago, Jim Ryan, head of PlayStation, shared his plans for 2021. Among them is the premiere of the next Guerrilla Games game.

“We feel great about Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. And, you know, there are 2 approaches to this: you can keep the date and launch the game no matter its quality or you can launch it when it’s ready. We always take the second approach, “said the manager.
