As the Season of Celebration winds down in “Pokemon Go,” a new one is right on the horizon. Starting at 8 a.m. March 1 and running to 10 a.m. June 1, the Season of Legends puts the focus on all things legendary. The news will be incredibly important to collectors as Niantic announced that Therian Forme Tornadus, Therian Forme Thundurus and Therian Forme Landorus will make their debuts.
AN EYE ON THE NEW LEGENDARIES
These are more powerful versions of their incarnate forms with remixed stats that often makes them better the older ones. For those who gotta catch ’em all, these will be must-haves. For PvP and raid fans, these Pokemon could be more useful than other ones. It will be interesting to see the exact stat distribution and move lists for the Therian formes. According to GamePress, Therian forme Tornadus’ sacrifices attack for better defense while Landorus adds more attack while slightly reducing its defense in Therian forme. Plus, Landorus looks the coolest out of the Forces of Nature. Thundurus has the same approach as Landorus boosting its attack while minimally lowering its defense. This could make Thundurus the glassiest of the three but one with the strongest attack stat.
In addition to new legendary Pokemon, players can expect new Mega Evolutions appearing in Mega Raids. The key wording is that trainers should “Keep an ear out” for more details. That could be a hint that Mega Audino could be around the corner. It is the Hearing Pokemon after all, and its Mega Evolution could be helpful in raids against dragons because of its normal and fairy typing. Players will have a chance to earn the new legendaries via a Season of Legends Special Research.
POKEMON SPAWNING IN THE WILD
With the introduction of seasons, players should expect different default Pokemon to appear over the span. These pocket monsters will show up in the wild when an event isn’t going on. Niantic did say that Mantine and Frillish will be appearing more often near water. Frillish is notable because it was a reward in Go Battle League. If it’s appearing in the wild, then that means players may get a new Pokemon when they reach level 20. In addition, the company said Voltorb and Glameow will appear in city environments. That’s a good opportunity to get the shiny versions of both.
Spawns will be different depending on the hemispheres. They go as follows:
Tangela (shiny available)
Croagunk (shiny available)
Ducklett (shiny available)
Turtwig (shiny available)
Chimchar (shiny available)
Piplup (shiny available)
Spring form Deerling.
Scyther (shiny available), Dratini (shiny available) and Cottonee will be the rare spawns.
Mankey (shiny available)
Yanma (shiny available)
Buizel (shiny available)
Woobat (shiny available)
Snivy (shiny available)
Autumn form Deerling
Pineco, Bagon and Ferroseed are the rare spawns. They all can be shiny.
Niantic is changing up the Pokemon inside of eggs. The Hoenn starters — Treecko, Mudkip and Torchic — will be in 2km eggs along with Budew. Drowzee, Azurill and Munna will be in 5km eggs. Lastly, Nincada and Alomomola will be in 10km eggs. The 10km batch is promising because both can be shiny, and hatching either isn’t a total disaster. It’s a lot better than having Throh in a 10km egg.
For those trying to reach level 50, this season will be a boon if you’re a hard-core raider. During the Season of Legends, players will get more experience points for completing raids. In addition, trainers will have more opportunities at free remote raid passes.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE SCHEDULE
Alongside the start of a new season, players will have another chance to climb up the ranks in Go Battle League. The format follows a similar pattern to Season 6 and it will stretch over Season of Legends. It goes as follows
Great League — 1 p.m. March 1 to 1 p.m. March 15.
Ultra League — 1 p.m. March 15 to 1 p.m. March 29.
Master League, Master League Classic and Great League — 1 p.m. March 29 to 1 p.m. April 5. Master League Classic doesn’t allow Pokemon powered up with XL Candy.
All three leagues — 1 p.m. April 5 to 1 p.m. April 12.
In the second go around, Niantic often introduces new moves or tweaks others to change up the meta. I expect they will do the same in this half of the season.
Great League and Great League Remix — 1 p.m. April 12 to 1 p.m. April 26. Great League Remix bans the 10 most-used pocket monsters in Great League. (I’m internally screaming yes!) That likely means players won’t see Azumarill, Skarmory and others. It means that players will encounter more unconventional teams making head-to-head matches more interesting.
Ultra League and its Premiere Cup — 1 p.m. April 26 to 1 p.m. May 10. Premiere Cup bans the use of legendary and mythical Pokemon, creating its own meta where regular Pokemon are valued.
Master League, Master League Classic and Retro Cup — 1 p.m. May 10 to 1 p.m. May 17. The Retro Cup allows the first 15 Pokemon types, excluding Dark, Steel and Fairy. The limit is CP 1,500.
All three leagues — 1 p.m. May 17 to 1 p.m. May 24. Keep in mind: Rank play ends early this season. That means you should try to go as high as you can before then.
Kanto Cup — 1 p.m. May 24 to 1 p.m. May 31. This is a special format that lets players only use Pokemon from 1 to 151. The CP limit is 1500. If you have a Shadow Mewtwo that fits both requirements. It could dominate here.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE REWARDS
It looks like the requirements for Frillish is coming down. Players no longer need to hit Rank 20 to get the Floating Pokemon. You’ll need to hit Rank 10 and above. Players will earn an Elite Charged TM at Rank 19 and an Elite Fast TM at the end of season.

The other big piece of news is that more XL Candy will be award for reward encounters of the following Pokemon: Poliwhirl, Flaaffy, Pupitar, Medicham, Scraggy, Galvantula, Lampent and Stunfisk. That means players trying to max out certain Pokemon will have more reason to play Go Battle League.
Lastly, Niantic is phasing out the walking requirement for GBL. It won’t return at all. That’s huge news and makes GBL open to everyone. The only issue is the cap on matches per day. I’m OK with that because having matches at all our can be abused in an attempt to get more shiny and rare pocket monsters.

Colorado Doctor: The COVID Vaccine To Take Is The One Available To You
(CBS4) – Johnson & Johnson started shipping its COVID-19 vaccine Monday morning after it received emergency use authorization. CBS4 Medical Editor Dr. Dave Hnida says it’s arrival changes the timeline for the fight against the coronavirus.
“Most public health experts are calling this one a game change,” he told CBSN Denver during his weekly question & answer session. “it’s a really good vaccine. It is oa one vaccine regiment, meaning you get one shot and within about three to four weeks, you have a full immune response.”READ MORE: COVID In Colorado: With 3rd Vaccine Soon To Be An Option, Can You Choose Which Is Right For You?
He also said because it is easy to ship and store. It can be kept in a refrigerator for up to three months which means there is little chance for wasted doses.
Hnida also addressed the effectiveness of the J&J vaccine calling it very effective. “I know a lot of people are looking at the numbers an d saying, ‘Well, you know maybe the Johnson & Johnson vaccine doesn’t meet the standards of other vaccines.’ Actually, it does.”
Hnida pointed out it was tested in a different population of people during the trials and that many of the people who received the vaccine may have had a mutated strain.
“When you look at Moderna, when you look at Pfizer, when you look at Johnson & Johnson, all there are 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths.”READ MORE: COVID In Colorado: 2nd Coronavirus Infection Cases Total 822 Since August 2020
As for choosing between the three, Hnida said, for him, it would be an easy decision. “I’ll you what the best vaccine is for anybody. It is the vaccine that is available for you right now.”
He pointed out there is still not enough vaccine to immunize everyone who wants the shots.
“When you take a look at how we view the pandemic in general. We’ve been talking so long about how we have been in this long marathon. We need to be patient, we need to hold on.”
“My feeling right now, with these vaccines coming out, is that we are now entering a new phase. We are really in a home stretch-type of situation. It’s a marathon that is now really a sprint.”
“We are sprinting to get people vaccinated before we have to worry about mutated strains.”MORE NEWS: Funding From COVID Groups To Help 8 Colorado Foundations
Hnida said that means give the choice of having the Johnson & Johnson vaccine right now or having to wait three or four weeks to start Pfizer or Moderna, he would take the J&J without question.
