Ben Roethlisberger has piloted the Steelers to an undefeated start, but his contract will become a problem for Pittsburgh this offseason. The Steelers are off to an impressive 10-0 start, but that doesn’t mean big problems aren’t looming on the horizon in Pittsburgh. The contract status of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will put the team’s front office squarely between a rock and a very hard place this offseason. The other option available to Pittsburgh’s front office would be to acquire a younger quarterback via free agency or a trade. On the open market, Jameis Winston could be an enticing option for an offense that likes to push the ball down the field. A better bet would be for Pittsburgh to keep a close eye on the potential quarterbacks who will be pushed out of their jobs by rookies drafted in the top-10. The Jets will almost certainly let Sam Darnold go...

The game was moved to Sunday, a move which has disappointed fans and even some players. Today gives us all a time to reflect and appreciate what we can be thankful for on this holiday. And I want to add a special note of thanks to all our frontline workers for all your tireless efforts in these difficult times. PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The daytime will be dry today with partly cloudy morning skies and overcast skies for the afternoon. While nearly everyone will be completely dry today, we will have a warm front slide through this evening bringing a brief rain chance with it. (Photo Credit: KDKA Weather Center) Model data indicates the warm air slides through with hardly a rain shower, but model data has really been struggling with handling the intricacies of our weather pattern over the past week and it appears it is still struggling heading into the weekend. I have made some significant changes to the forecast when it comes to temperatures, with days like Wednesday’s forecast really depending on when rain arrives. I think I have a pretty good handle on it all though. Changes start on Wednesday. I have bumped up highs to the low 60’s with most of the ‘day’ dry. (Photo...

Colin Cowherd totally whiffed on his AFC North predictions. When you’re in the business of giving out opinions for three hours a day, as Colin Cowherd is, the laws of probability mean that you’re going to get a handful wrong. However, Cowherd’s vision for the 2020 AFC North, which featured a 16-0 Baltimore Ravens team and a Pittsburgh Steelers squad that will finish the season below .500, is looking worse with each passing week. Not only is Cowherd’s claim of an undefeated Ravens team looking worse with each passing week, but predicting that the Steelers would finish 7-9 is downright comical in hindsight given Mike Tomlin’s 10-0 start. The Steelers are 10-0, and the 1972 Miami Dolphins must be getting nervous. The Dolphins can’t pop their champagne just yet, as their yearly celebration has been put off not just by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also the Pittsburgh Steelers, who advanced to 10-0 on the season with a win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Steelers weren’t necessarily impressive on Sunday, but avoided a loss that’s become all too familiar to Pittsburgh fans during the Mike Tomlin era — on the road against an inferior opponent. With a healthy Ben Roethlisberger in tow, and the Steelers offense seemingly clicking on all cylinders, Pittsburgh is greeted with a familiar question for the last undefeated team in the NFL: Will they finish the year unblemished? The Steelers schedule sets up for an intriguing finishThe two toughest games remaining on the Steelers schedule are against the Ravens next Thursday night...
By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — “The Frick Pittsburgh” is just another local attraction temporarily closing to the public due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. Workers there say that the move is keeping with Allegheny County’s stay-at-home advisory issued on Nov. 18 and that it was temporary. The attraction, commonly known as “The Frick,” originally was shut down for months in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic. It has only been open to the public for about three months since reopening. It is offering virtual tours of the museum, exhibits and grounds and the first floor of “Clayton.”
If the Pittsburgh Steelers lose a game this season, here is when it could happen. The Pittsburgh Steelers are feeling 16-0, but they could end up slipping at some point. Related Story We’re not talking enough about how the Steelers can go 16-0 Read now >> So when are the Steelers slipping up? Will they slip up? They might or they might not. The last seven games for them are not easy, but no game is easy in the NFL these days. While Pittsburgh could just as easily lose to Jacksonville as it could to Indianapolis, the two games to watch out for are at Buffalo in Week 14 and home vs. Baltimore on Thanksgiving night in Week 14 in that order. The Bills and the Ravens are the two likeliest teams to hand the Steelers a rare loss this season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the pathway to go 16-0 this regular season. Though they are the team able to go undefeated this year, the Pittsburgh Steelers just might. At 9-0 through the first 10 weeks of the 2020 NFL season, the Steelers are the only team in the league that have a shot at going undefeated. New York Yankees: Should the team pursue a former All Star pitcher? By: Nick Nielsen November 18, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees have never been ones to shy away from the spotlight when it comes to free-agent signings. Over the past few years, seemingly every big-name player has been linked with the Yankees in some way. Players like Bryce Harper, Patrick Corbin, Manny Machado, and dozens of others have thought about suiting up in the Pinstripes. Sometimes, however, the best signings are the ones that are unexpected or not involving huge names. When the Yankees brought in DJ LeMahieu, at the time, it was an under-the-radar signing and a signing that wasn’t all that talked about. As we have seen, DJ’s deal ended up being one of the best in recent years and set himself up for a far better one this offseason....

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — There has been recent excitement over the effectiveness of potential coronavirus vaccines, including the one by Pfizer. The company announced it can prevent 90 coronavirus infections for every 100 people vaccinated with two doses. “The 90 percent efficacy was seven days after the second dose,” says Dr. Marc Itskowitz, a primary care internist at the Allegheny Health Network. “We were hoping it would be at least 50 percent. A 90 percent efficacy rate is fantastic. It’s a game-changer. It’s beyond our expectations.” After the scientific community reviews the data, seeking emergency use authorization from the FDA would be the likely next step for Pfizer. “They pointed out there were no serious safety concerns, and so we’re getting the excellent combination of efficacy and safety. That’s what we want in a new vaccine, especially a vaccine that was brought to market so quickly,” says Dr. Itskowitz. It’s...
The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed Ben Roethlisberger and three other players on the reserve/COVID-19 list after concluding they had been in close contact with infected tight end Vance McDonald. Roethlisberger tested negative, according to multiple reports. A team spokesperson did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for confirmation. The move comes a day after McDonald went on the list after testing positive following a 24-19 win at Dallas that pushed the Steelers to 8-0. Running back Jaylen Samuels, offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins and linebacker Vince Williams joined Roethlisberger on the list Tuesday. The reserve/COVID-19 list is either for players who have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who has.  Roethlisberger may have injured both knees on one play in Pittsburgh's win in Dallas on Sunday, but the team is optimistic he will be healthy enough to play Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. ...

As it became clear that the votes cast on Election Day in several key states would take time to tally, President Trump started the drumbeat to “stop the count” before all ballots had been accounted for. But Democratic activists were prepared to rally for counter-demonstrations. In Pennsylvania, where officials had cautioned that ballot-counting would take longer than usual, protecting the state’s 20 Electoral College votes seemed especially crucial. Within hours of Trump’s tweet, organizers in Pittsburgh held a “Count Our Votes” rally — a combination block party and demonstration, organized with tools and knowledge built over the course of months or years. The rally was coordinated by a group of local protest organizations, including One Pennsylvania, which covers a coalition of activists in the Keystone State. “We flagged this as an issue ourselves six months ago,” said Erin Kramer, One Pennsylvania’s executive director. Frederick Breedon/Getty Images Tye Smith of the Tennessee Titans pursues JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers at Nissan Stadium on October 25, 2020. The NFL has a long history of fining players for seemingly trivial uniform violations. For example, in 2013 running back Frank Gore was fined $10,500 for wearing his socks too low during San Francisco’s win over Atlanta in the NFC Championship Game. And last year Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. blasted the NFL for fining him $14,037 for “his pants failing to cover the knee area.” Those are just a few representative examples of why the NFL is sometimes referred to as the “No Fun League.” But in 2020—when the league has more pressing concerns, like avoiding outbreaks of COVID-19 among players, coaches and staff—it seems especially over the top to fine players for minor uniform violations. (CNN)Can anyone stop the Pittsburgh Steelers this season? Certainly not the Baltimore Ravens.True, the Ravens gave the Steelers a nervous final few minutes in Baltimore on Sunday, but Pittsburgh held on to secure a 28-24 win against their AFC North rivals and maintain their unbeaten start to the 2020 season, improving their record to 7-0.Sunday's win bodes well for the Steelers' Super Bowl aspirations. Since 1970, 19 of the 38 teams who started their season 7-0 made it to the Super Bowl. And just over 50% of those 19 teams -- 10 of them -- then went on to win the Super Bowl. Reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs also secured their seventh win of the season on Sunday beating the winless New York Jets, but the Steelers remain the only undefeated team left this season.Despite the Ravens conceding two turnovers in the opening quarter, including quarterback Lamar Jackson...
Lamar Jackson is going backwards and it’s costing the Ravens dearly. The story of the 2019 NFL regular season was clearly Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson, who put together an incredible statistical season on his way to the MVP award. Jackson fell short in the playoffs but his tremendous performance led to a thought that the Ravens had found their answer to Patrick Mahomes in the AFC. The bloom is off the rose for Jackson this year and today’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was the biggest evidence yet of Jackson’s regression. Losing left tackle Ronnie Stanley to injury early didn’t help, but Jackson was incredibly sloppy with the football, losing two fumbles and throwing a pair of interceptions in the 28-24 loss. Jackson is also demonstrating less accuracy, completing just 60.5 percent of his passes over Baltimore’s first seven games, a significant drop from his 66.1 percent mark...
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has endorsed President Donald Trump for another term in the White House. In an editorial published Saturday night titled, “The man and the record,” the outlet’s editorial board cited common characterizations of Trump as “unpresidential,” “crude and unkind,” and “just not a good man” before asking if that’s “really what it’s about?” “Isn’t the real question whether he has been taking the country, and the economy of this region, in the right direction these last four years?” the Post-Gazette wrote. “Can we separate the man from the record?” The outlet contended that it shares “the embarrassment of millions of Americans who are disturbed by the president’s unpresidential manners and character — his rudeness and put-downs and bragging and bending of the truth” and would “prefer the first-class temperament and demeanor of a Winston Churchill, a Dwight Eisenhower, a Franklin Roosevelt, a Ronald Reagan, or a Barack Obama,”...
Make no mistake, the 2020 NFL season has had its fair share of surprises over the last eight odd weeks. The six-game unbeaten run of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the epic decline of Mike McCarthy’s Dallas Cowboys, and the unprecedented rise of Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals are some of the shockers from the first half of the 2020 NFL season. But there is another contender for this title, in the form of Baker Mayfield-led Cleveland Browns. The Browns are on a 5-2 record heading into Week Eight. They were dealt a massive blow last week as star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. suffered an ACL tear against the Bengals. He is out for the season. WR Jarvis Landry will have to step up and help RB Kareem Hunt make some big plays for the Browns in Week Eight. But a certain NFL analyst does not believe that the Browns are ‘serious...

And although you can’t expect more than perhaps a late-round addition, sometimes it’s the later picks that turn into franchise faces. Haskins likely is done for the year, but some teams might not be too high on drafting a new pocket-passer outside the top three names next April. If that’s the case, where...
By MARK KENNEDY, AP Entertainment Writer NEW YORK (AP) — The University of Pittsburgh has acquired the archive of the late playwright and Pittsburgh native son August Wilson, a trove that contains recordings, letters, artwork, poetry, unpublished work and notebooks. Processing the collection — more than 450 boxes of materials — will start in early 2021. “This acquisition is about more than bringing August Wilson back home to Pittsburgh,” said Chancellor Patrick Gallagher in a statement. “This archive deftly puts the experiences of Black Americans beneath an intimate magnifying glass and unpacks themes of injustice and inequity that are just as relevant today as when Wilson’s first play debuted." PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh firefighters and paramedics are fighting a turf battle and the public is caught in the middle — literally. A recent flap involves a child who had gotten himself trapped between the bars of a jungle gym at West Penn Park. Almost simultaneously, EMS Rescue 1 and Pittsburgh Fire’s Engine 6 converge — setting the scene for a confrontation over whose duty it is to extricate a victim. The paramedics union says its members have advanced life support training needed in these situations and the job is theirs alone. “We have people that have hundreds and hundreds of hours of training, decades of experience of doing this. The fire bureau doesn’t — they just lack expertise that our personnel have,” says Pittsburgh paramedics vice president John Atkinson. According to public safety reports, the two crews asses the situation and decide upon using a hydraulic tool to spread...

Tucked deep inside the City-County Building sits the vault, a small room filled with papers. Archivist Nichols Hartley is very young, but his job is rooted in the past. From tri-fold paper ordinances to council records older than your great grandfather, it’s hard to believe that Hartley is the city’s first on the job. “When I started, it became apparent that whenever records became inactive and not frequently used in the office, were usually relegated to basements or closets,” said Hartley.
