Getty Zach LaVine dribbles the ball up the court in a February 3 game against the New York Knicks. It’s been a career season for Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. So it was little surprise to NBA fans when the 25-year old was named to the 2021 NBA All-Star roster on Tuesday night. But that wasn’t the real shock of the day for LaVine, no, the real surprise would come later on. Chicago’s top talent was told by the team that he had one last Zoom press conference for the day with some West Coast reporters before calling it a night. So LaVine sat down and prepared to answer the same questions he’d been answering for hours, and turned his camera on. They’re 14-16 as of Tuesday morning, the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, but still far from being considered a contender or legitimate postseason threat. Getty Coby White and Thaddeus Young high five in a February 23 game against the Houston Rockets. Veteran forward Thaddeus Young called his team’s third-quarter performance on Monday night one of the best quarters he’d been a part of in his 14-year career. It was that kind of night for the Chicago Bulls. The team scored 46 points on 19-of-25 shooting from the field and made seven-of-nine attempts from three in the 12-minute period. That alone was enough to earn the Bulls their 120-100 victory over the Houston Rockets. 32-year old Young, who’s been mentioned on and off in trade rumors since signing with the Bulls in 2019, couldn’t help but revel in the young team’s progress over his season and change in Chicago. When speaking with reporters postgame, via The Chicago Tribune, he was asked to gauge the temperature of the team after their win. He responded: “Light...

The Chicago Bulls are a couple of wins away from finding their name in the Top 8 of the current EC rankings. This isn’t a small deal for a team that had won only 71 games in totality for the three seasons before this one. The Bulls have strong interest in trading for Lonzo Ball and here’s how Chicago can swing a deal for the talented Pelicans guard.  The Pelicans have decided that Lonzo Ball isn’t worth the contract he’ll be looking for once he hits restricted free agency. The Bulls clearly think otherwise. That’s why they’re being linked strongly with a move for the talented guard. The question that needs to be answered now is what Chicago needs to do if they want to get a deal done. They likely aren’t the only team interested in acquiring Ball so it’s in their best interest to conclude negotiations quickly. A protracted conversation with the Pelicans would give other teams a chance to swoop in and get the deal done. As explained in a recent article, the Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic — two teams at the bottom half of the Eastern Conference — could make some big moves prior to the March 25 trade deadline, including one that would send Magic center Nikola Vucevic to the Bulls in exchange for two key rotation players and some future assets. Meanwhile, Orlando has slipped to 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 10-17 record after squandering a “decent” start to the 2020-21 season. With those things in mind, the outlet recommended a deal that would allow Chicago to keep their top two stars while helping the Magic “retool” their roster. As recommended, the transaction will send Vucevic and backup big man...
Ben Simmons is one of the best prospects in the NBA right now. The fourth-year player is already a two-time all-star and has appearances on all-defensive teams. But his offensive game still needs help, as he is still lacking a reliable jumpshot. However, his defense is as solid as they come, and his coach Doc Rivers seems to agree. Most of the great defenders guard their position, and they do a great job there. Ben is a chameleon. Getty Zach LaVine addressed the perceived grudge between Tom Thibodeau and him. Zach LaVine admitted there was once a grudge toward Tom Thibodeau. While coaching for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Thibodeau traded LaVine and Kris Dunn and a seventh-round pick to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Jimmy Butler — an experiment that lasted just one full season in Minnesota but has carried monumental impact on both organizations. Tom Thibodeau isn’t used to losing in Chicago. The Knicks coach said the club didn’t play with “great effort for an extended period of time.’’ The Knicks have lost five of six games as they had defensive breakdowns, offensive breakdowns and even Thibodeau’s postgame Zoom call got interrupted, sustaining technical difficulties due to Bulls’ arena issues. Michael Jordan demanded outrageous input both from himself and his teammates. He never knew mediocrity and denied settling for anything but greatness. His individual accolades and team achievements reflected that mindset, but more often than not, they also presented him as the bad man of the NBA. In The Last Dance documentary, Jordan’s teammates, Scottie Pippen and Steve Kerr, revealed how MJ would yell and shout during practice. He was quite intimidating, and his star power was always like a bigger shadow that would make him appear like a bully. This New York Knicks are off to a good start this season. This is surprising because they’ve earned the tag as one of the worst teams in the league over the last few years. However, this season is proving to be a different picture altogether. The Knicks currently hold the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 9-11. Their forward, Julius Randle, deserves all the praise for stepping up into a bigger role this season. However, the team is still missing a well-established star on their roster. Zach LaVine to the New York Knicks? Since joining the Chicago Bulls, Zach LaVine has transitioned into a phenomenal player. But despite his efforts, the Bulls are far from becoming a legit contender in the East. As a result, many have anticipated that LaVine could request a trade to win a title during his prime years. New York Knicks have their eyes on star Chicago scorer in trade By: Alexander Wilson January 30, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Knicks have been playing far better basketball this year than compared to recent seasons. On Friday evening, they completely dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers, holding them to just 81 points. As for New York, second-year player RJ Barrett scored 24 points, connecting on 8-of-19 shots from the field, and rookie Immanuel Quickley once again looked like a star. He finished the night with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. It finally seems as if the Knicks have a few younger players that can produce on a daily basis. Add in Julius Randle and a few solid depth pieces, and the Knicks seem like a team with positive momentum. In addition, they also have a draft capital and player assets they can utilize in a...

The youth-packed starting five has been a disaster, especially on the defensive end, and while the veterans on the bench have done well to rescue the youngsters where they can, they’re not part of the team’s long-term future. So, should the Bulls be looking to make a move? And do the two players who have reportedly come onto the market recently constitute a fit of any kind? The Pelicans have, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, put point guard Lonzo Ball and shooting guard J.J. Redick on the trade market, well ahead of the March 25 NBA deadline. LaVine scored nine points in the closing minutes of the third to help send Chicago to the final quarter with a 93-86 lead. The Bulls made enough shots down the stretch to win for the second time in as many days after losing four straight by four points or fewer. Lauri Markkanen finished with 18 points. The 7-footer from Finland nailed a 3-pointer in the closing minute to make it a six-point game, helping Chicago squeeze out a tight win after an easy victory at Dallas. Oladipo looked good in his first game for Houston, pouring in 32 points. The two-time All-Star was acquired from Indiana as part of the four-team trade that sent James Harden to Brooklyn last week...

Getty Chicago Bulls While Zach LaVine didn’t shoot the ball well in the Chicago Bulls‘ win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon, he still helped the team with his facilitating and defense. LaVine’s well-rounded play didn’t go unnoticed, and the same could be said for Coby White, who had an even tougher night finishing with 0 points in the game. White did his best to limit turnovers and to work hard on the defensive end as well. To a lesser degree than LaVine, but White still played well in other areas of the game. The effort didn’t go unnoticed by veteran teammates. Getty Zach LaVine and Luka Doncic The Chicago Bulls rebounded from an ugly overtime loss at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday with a strong road performance and a 117-101 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon. Getty Billy Donovan Last Friday, the Chicago Bulls had a win wrapped up against the Oklahoma City Thunder before a collapse. ESPN Stats & Info reported Chicago’s chances to win with a 10-point lead stood at 99.1% with 1 minute, 56 seconds left in regulation. What followed was a mathematical anomaly. The Thunder closed regulation with a 10-0 run to force overtime and edged the Bulls’ 127-125. The game proved to be a low for Chicago who is learning to keep and maintain a lead after often finding itself falling behind a season ago. Rather than moving onto the next game, coach Billy Donovan took the liberty of turning his Saturday film study not on the upcoming opponent in the Dallas Mavericks, but of his own team. Donovan said he made Chicago watch the final five minutes of regulation where they relinquished what was a 16-point lead in...
Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA. The 2019 Rookie of the year has grown leaps and bounds since entering the league two years ago. In his two seasons in the NBA, Doncic has been an All-Star, been named to an All-NBA first team, and been in the MVP race already. But even Doncic is capable of having an off night. Luka Doncic unhappy with loss to Bulls Tonight, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Dallas Mavericks. Despite Luka Doncic putting up a 30-point triple-double (36-15-16), the team came up short against the Bulls. Doncic spoke to the press after the game and noted that he had not played up to the level demanded of him. He thought that he was very self-centered during the game and took shots that didn’t make sense. He said, “The second half, I played terrible. That’s on me, that game. I was...

DALLAS (AP) — Lauri Markkanen had 29 points and 10 rebounds, Garrett Temple scored 15 of his season-high 21 points in the second quarter and the Chicago Bulls ended a four-game losing streak with a 117-101 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. Dallas star Luka Doncic passed Michael Jordan on the career list with his 29th triple-double, finishing with 36 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists, including a behind-the-back pass to Willie Cauley-Stein for a dunk. Doncic is tied with Grant Hill for 15th place. The Slovenian sensation, who had 30 points at halftime, didn’t get nearly enough help with the Mavericks missing five rotation players because of COVID-19 protocols and guard Tim Hardaway Jr. with a left groin strain. Getty Isaiah Thomas recently shared he is ready to join a team after coming back from injury. The Chicago Bulls have shown promise in the midst of an evaluation year for the franchise under first-year coach Billy Donovan, but turnovers have become the bane of the Bulls’ season. Without a true distributor, Chicago (4-8) is the NBA’s most turnover-prone team in the league, averaging 18.3 a game this season. While Coby White and Zach LaVine have traded facilitating duties, both have been walking turnovers. LaVine is currently fifth in the league with 4.3 turnovers per game, while White ranks 24th with 3.1 turnovers a game. The return of Tomas Satoransky should help alleviate some of the Bulls’ struggles, however, LaVine hinted at a potential free agent Chicago could bring in to bolster the team’s depth at guard. NBA : Shai Gilgeous-Alexander refused to lose. The only 22-year-old guard of the Thunder justified the organization’s confidence in his talent with the best scoring mark of his career (33 points) and signing decisive baskets in the comeback and victory in overtime against the Chicago Bulls (127- 125). OKC emerged victorious, but it was not easy. At the beginning of the second half, Chicago reached 22 points up. With just under five minutes to go, they were still up by 16. With two minutes remaining, the rent was 10… The Thunder were taking bites and Gilgeous-Alexander took the final bite. With three points down and only one possession left to play, the ball was in his hands. He did not hesitate, he did not panic. He faced the Bulls defense and forced a 2 + 1 that would end up taking the game into extra time after Zach LaVine’s...

Getty Zach LaVine #8 of the Chicago Bulls dribbles the ball against the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on March 05, 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana. NBA free agency has resembled the wild west with the level of superstar movement over the past few years. From June 2018 to January 2021, five of the seven active MVPs changed teams — several did more than once. But with the disassembly of the Houston Rockets over the past year, the volatility around the league is sure to simmer following the James Harden trade. However, a single move could set off another wave of teams exchanging stars to find their best possible roster to make a championship run. Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine was among five potential superstars CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn could see moving on from their current teams in the next few seasons — the most obvious being Washington...
Getty Ryan Arcidiacono explained how he kept sharp while quarantined. The Chicago Bulls are approaching the healthiest they’ve been all season while other teams in the NBA have been ravaged by COVID-19. After missing Thaddeus Young to begin the season due to a career-threatening staph infection, four players were placed on quarantine the night of the Bulls’ second game against the Washington Wizards in Lauri Markkanen, Ryan Arcidiacono, Chandler Hutchinson and Tomas Satoransky. Hutchinson and Satoransky tested positive, while none of the mentioned players made the West Coast road trip where Chicago went 1-4. Markkanen and Arcidiacono are expected to return to the lineup on Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder after Chicago’s Tuesday game against the Boston Celtics was postponed due to the Celtics not having enough available players amid a wave of first-hand contacts with the virus. Arcidiacono spoke on his quarantine process which many players...

Getty Coby White has been the least-efficient defender among sophomore NBA players this season. Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is taking steps as offensively in his second NBA season. The North Carolina prospect posted career highs in points (36), rebounds (10) and assists (13) — a product of the Bulls’ second-best PACE rating that trails only the Washington Wizards. Chicago currently averages the sixth-most points in the league and managed to keep with some of the league’s best teams on their West Coast road trip, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers by a single possession while also upsetting the Portland Trailblazers 111-108 on Jan. 5. But beneath the newfound offensive competence has been troubling defensive play. White embodies these struggles, owning the worst defensive points saved rating of any second-year player in the league, per NBA Math. His rating is an extreme outlier from the...
Getty Zach LaVine is becoming one of the league's most prolific scorers and could garner trade interests. Chicago Bulls veteran Garrett Temple declared back in December that Zach LaVine is a “budding superstar” in the NBA. The 11th year veteran wasn’t just blowing smoke either. He knows what it takes to be a superstar in the NBA, playing with the likes of Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, John Wall, Bradley Beal and Demarcus Cousins. LaVine has proven Temple’s assertion true 11 games through the season as he’s the league’s second-leading scorer behind only Bradley Beal. But just as it appears the Bulls have their first superstar since Jimmy Butler, a question has arisen. Getty Kawhi Leonard gave Billy Donovan and the Bulls some praise following the Clippers' 130-127 victory over Chicago. The Chicago Bulls‘ 1-3 West Coast road trip may not have been encouraging in the win-loss column, but the Bulls have garnered respect in the Western Conference. Following Chicago’s 130-127 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, superstar Kawhi Leonard complimented the team that had its way with the Clippers offensively. “Billy Donovan’s done a great job with that team over there, Zach LaVine’s been great leading the team, the rookie [Patrick Williams] played well tonight,” Leonard said. “They shot the ball great. We were there on a lot of contests.” The Bulls played the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings to close losses and pulled off an upset of the Portland Trailblazers at the beginning of the road trip in what was a large improvement upon several blowout losses to...

The NBA has called off four games this season because of COVID-19-related issues. It appears the Celtics do not have enough players due to contact tracing and quarantine rules. The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association are meeting about possible modifications to the league’s health and safety protocols. Shooting guard Zach LaVine has been a blessing in disguise for the Chicago Bulls. The franchise is actually running a little out of luck in this season. They first lost to the Warriors 128-129 and then to the Lakers 115-117 in hard-fought games.  Unfortunately, this poor run against WC teams continued as the Clippers also beat them marginally. At one point, with 8 minutes remaining, the two teams were tied at 103-103 but they failed to take a lead.
