Ashley Yanez, The Western Journal March 2, 2021 0 Comments With the Conservative Political Action Conference, or Conservative Coachella as I like to call it, just wrapping up over the weekend in Orlando, Florida, two things are very clear: There is a new Republican Party led by populists, and Donald J. Hot takes shouldn’t be allowed until after spring training, especially for Phillies fans. Phillies fans know more than most to be patient. Spring training is far from the final product — the starting nine traditionally plays about 3-4 innings tops, only to give way to reserves and low-level prospects looking for an opportunity. This means that, despite literally not finishing the first inning on Sunday and drawing level with the lowly Orioles on Monday, there’s nothing Phillies fans can really take from two exhibition games, right? Right? Well, maybe not. Ivan Nova, potentially competing for a long relief or depth rotation spot, was absolutely dreadful on Sunday. He didn’t make it out of the first inning, allowing the Tigers to bat around. And ties in baseball are never fun, but spring training results — even with the Orioles — don’t mean much. Are Phillies fans measured enough to understand it’s just...

The head of the WHO wants the vaccination of health workers to be started in every country on the planet during the first 100 days of the year – which means that there are 40 days left to achieve this goal. Michael Ryan, WHO’s director of emergency operations, said it would still be possible to bring down the numbers of hospitalizations and deaths. But the pandemic remains virulent, especially after a further rise in the number of cases this week after seven consecutive weeks of decline. “It would be very premature and, I think, unrealistic to think that we are going to be done with this virus by the end of the year,” Ryan told reporters. “But I think what...

While the current solar station lines are still performing better, they are disgraceful. Bloomberg IBM expands hybrid cloud service, targets banking and healthcare (Bloomberg) – International Business Machines Corp. has officially launched its hybrid cloud service, advancing its plan to propel the business into the rapidly growing market for large data storage on the internet. Called IBM Cloud Satellite, it allows clients to control how they store their information, with some of it stored internally in what is known as a private cloud and other data stored in public clouds such as AWS from Amazon.com Inc, or Azure from Microsoft Corp. As a newcomer to cloud services, IBM is targeting highly regulated industries such as banking and healthcare, which have been slow to adopt internet-based storage solutions due to security and scale concerns. Public and private clouds have been “too complex, too expensive and high risk,” said Howard Boville, head of hybrid cloud at IBM. . To accommodate such customers, Cloud Satellite is...

The Chevrolet Bolt is back for 2021 with a bigger version aimed at expanding the electric model’s audience. (Chevrolet) The Bolt EUV is a slightly larger take on the subcompact Bolt EV that was introduced in 2017. The "Electric Utility Vehicle" is a half-foot longer overall and has three extra inches of rear legroom than the EV, which makes a world of difference that allows it to comfortably accommodate six-foot passengers all around. (Chevrolet) Due to a quirk in the official measuring system, the EUV is rated with less cargo space than the EV on paper, but it can actually carry about two cubic feet more of your stuff according to Vehicle Chief Engineer Jeremy Short. The 2021 Bolt EV starts at $31,995. (Chevrolet) The smaller Bolt EV is still available and features a redesigned, cleaner front end that gives it a more futuristic look. At first...

Yankees’ Aaron Judge happy to be back in the field: ‘I feel like the first day in school’ By: Andres Chavez March 1, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees’ first game of the 2021 spring training calendar didn’t exactly go as planned, as they lost 6-4 to the Toronto Blue Jays. Mike King started and didn’t have a particularly good afternoon, but it’s still very early and these stats don’t matter too much. It’s all about preparation for when the real action begins. However, that doesn’t mean that the Yankees and other teams aren’t happy to see fans in the stands, especially after having to play last year with empty stadiums and cutoffs. Yankees’ infielder DJ LeMahieu had already stated how important it was to have fans in the stands, and now, star right fielder Aaron Judge is echoing those feelings. After...

It's the first time that all U.S stores are open since Apple started closing stores in response to the Covid-19 pandemic last spring. The reopening of Apple's last closed U.S. locations in Texas on Monday marks a milestone as the United States begins to emerge from lockdowns as new cases fall and vaccines are distributed. Not all Apple stores in the U.S. are fully open for walk-in customers to go inside and browse, however. Customers should check Apple's website before heading to their store in case it is appointment-only or service is limited in other ways....
Domingo German’s return from a domestic violence suspension created drama in the Yankees clubhouse.  Before German commented publicly to the media, or even his teammates for that matter, one of the Yankees most prominent voices spoke out at a press conference and via his public social media platform, suggesting the 28-year-old wouldn’t be welcomed back to the Bronx with open arms. Essentially, if German was going to go, he’d already be gone. All that being said, this is a systemic issue rather than one fan base’s issue, and fans shouldn’t have to feel pressure to answer for the allegations their favorite team’s players are facing…but the Yankees should be very much ashamed for attempting to Moneyball serious allegations into the latest market inefficiency. My fandom experience would be better without both men. -AW 4. As a Yankee fan, what’s the best-case scenario here? Put yourself in Brian Cashman’s shoes. Quite...
“Hello CPAC. Do you miss me yet? Do you miss me? … There’s never been a journey so successful,” said presidential loser Donald Trump in his pitiful, mendacious, laughable big comeback appearance, not quite (but close) promising that he will try again for the presidency 2024 and clarifying (if there was any serious doubt) that if/when he does so, it will be as a Republican (and not, as was recently rumored, in a new party that he would create). As regular visitors to this site know, I have an extremely bad attitude about Trump, and did not miss him at all during the relatively few weeks he took from public view after fomenting a violent overthrow of U.S. democracy and beating, on a technicality combined with political cowardice, conviction in an impeachment trial, even though a significant and bipartisan majority of the U.S. Senate (but not the two-thirds majority necessary)...
(CNN)At times like this, I miss Don Rickles.Flashy, corny exercises in self-aggrandizement like Sunday night's Golden Globes awards were made for the late, great insult comic to deflate, if not blow to smithereens. How I yearned for Rickles to throw a barrage of ego-piercing barbs at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's annual clambake. Gene Seymour I was especially ready for Rickles to deploy one of his regular riffs, which I imagined would go like this:"I kid, folks, but you know what? We need the Golden Globes."At which point, he would shrug and look around for anybody who agreed.Read MoreAnd keep looking, "I kid, folks...only I'm not sure I am."We've been through various stages of lockdown and social distancing for a full year as of this month. A woman who is the first American to successfully undergo a second face transplant has now shown off her new face for the first time - as she thanked the donor's family for giving her the 'biggest gift' in her most difficult time. Carmen Tarleton, whose face was badly disfigured in an attack by her ex-husband in 2007, has been recovering since undergoing the second face transplant at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital last July.  The 53-year-old became only the second person globally to undergo the procedure after her first transplant failed seven years after the operation.  Tarleton, a former nurse, showed off her new face for the first time in an interview with NBC's Today seven months into her recovery. 'Every week, I get better and better... I'm excited to see what life's gonna bring me now. I have a lot of patience,' she said.   Carmen Tarleton, 53, underwent...
