PORTSMOUTH — Almost exactly one year following the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, Portsmouth City Council introduced a discussion item devised to condemn and denounce acts of hate and discrimination in the city. Council’s newest members- 4th Ward Councilwoman Lyvette Mosley and 6th Ward Councilman Dennis Packard- spoke on the matter during Monday night’s City Managers session. The prepared document submitted to the City Clerk and received by the Portsmouth Daily Times focused on the recent and historical inequities that people of color face in this country. “A resolution such as this has no cost to the public whatsoever, but the benefit is priceless,” said Packard in his description to the council, advocating for a sense of diversity exhibited at Shawnee State University. Mosley attested to discrimination she has experienced through her life, describing the alterations she has made to her hair to look like her co-workers and her attempts at...
The number 1 prison surveillance court in Catalonia has refused this Tuesday to provisionally suspend the third prison degree of Carme Forcadell and Dolors Bassa, two of those sentenced by 1-O by the Supreme Court, as requested by the Prosecutor’s Office. After what the Generalitat granted them semi-freedom a few weeks ago, The Prosecutor’s Office filed an appeal against and requested that while it is resolved, the court provisionally suspend the third degree. Now the magistrate, as he did last summer, assures that this is not provided for in the law, that it only says it literally because the appeal is presented against a judicial resolution, and not against an administrative resolution.

Sony Playstation 5 : The new model of Nintendo Switch, the rumored Switch Pro, does not stop receiving leaked information: while the company has not made its existence official, even saying that they do not intend to announce a review of the hybrid this year, multiple insiders are revealing some technical details of the machine assuming not only that it exists , but it will be announced and even put on sale throughout 2021. This time it was the insider NaterDrake, which has already proven reliability in previous leaks, who has specified certain technical details that we did not know about the Switch Pro: according to this person, the new review of the Nintendo machine will have DLSS compatibility, the AI image rescaling technology developed by Nvidia, and 4K “functionality”. Consequently, the laptop screen would also gain resolution to take advantage of this technical leap. A “significant upgrade” to...

UConn Student Body President Mike Hernandez, a hispanic, has been accused of supporting “white supremacy” after vetoing a resolution that called on the university to defund the campus police. “When you veto this bill, you veto a call against white supremacy,” said former student senate member, Sam Zelin, in reaction to President Mike Hernandez’s veto of the legislation, according to a report by the Daily Campus. Jessica Delgado, a student senator, also expressed her dismay, stating, “I thought USG was about moving forward but this feels like a step backwards.” “If you are against racism as an organization, I don’t understand why we are debating a veto to make a statement denouncing white supremacy and the capitol riots,” she added. The resolution condemning white supremacy in the wake of the January 6 Capitol Hill riot also included a demand for the university to defund the campus police. “USG condemns UConn for issuing...
Eleven elected members of the New York State Democratic Party have submitted a resolution to censure Gov. Andrew Cuomo over his coronavirus nursing home scandal — including covering up the true number of deaths among nursing home residents from the killer virus, protecting medical facilities from legal liability for negligence and threatening lawmakers for criticizing his policies. The resolution is yet another headache for Cuomo in the mushrooming scandal. As governor, Cuomo is the de-facto head of New York’s Democratic Party. Democratic lawmakers in Albany have submitted legislation to curb Cuomo’s emergency powers and even accused him of obstruction of justice over nursing home death reporting — a claim he denies. Republican lawmakers, meanwhile, have proposed an impeachment commission to oust Cuomo, who is expected to run for a fourth term next year. And the state Senate on Monday is expected to pass a package of bills to bolster nursing...
Editorial: Gaming / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Instagram / News / Discord / Forums Google recently claimed that STADIA, its streaming service, will receive more than 100 games this year. The company will work so that the platform remains active and offers a greater variety of titles to its users; however, the players are not happy. This is because Google also announced that it will stop making games for the service, so STADIA will not have the exclusives that were promised in its reveal. On the other hand, the company has been criticized for STADIA’s technical performance and accused of failing to deliver on its promises. The picture is not looking good for STADIA, because all this together led to a difficult situation for Google. Sony Playstation 5 : Google has received a class action lawsuit over “gross exaggerations” about the quality of its Stadia streaming game service. Specifically, it is addressed to “False and misleading” statements regarding Google Stadia to “increase the division’s revenue,” and insists the company violated consumer protection laws. Indirectly it also affects Bungie and id Software for advertising regarding the quality and resolution in which their games will be displayed on Stadia. One of the examples that he cites is the deletion by Google of a message on Twitter from 2019 in which it was announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be played at 4K and 60 fps even on less powerful computers; later, it was found that the title of Rockstar or Destiny 2 did not reach these figures. “Google understood that it was an intentional deception of the consumer”, something that the media echoed and was...
The app of YouTube for Android It is, worth the redundancies, applying a change at least curious, and that is that the possibility of playing any content in 4K resolution is now available for any mobile. Until now, the YouTube app for Android limited the video playback quality to the device’s native resolution, because only those who had a mobile phone with a 4K screen could view the videos in 4K. So far everything normal. However, from now on that restriction disappears and everyone will be able to choose the quality of resolution. That is, if your mobile screen is 720p or 1080p, the most common resolutions, you can increase the video quality up to 4KAs long as the video offers that resolution, of course. The question is why, when it is obvious that the device’s screen resolution determines the resolution at which it can play video. The answer, however,...

Washington (CNN)When President Joe Biden announced the US will end support for Saudi Arabia's offensive operations in Yemen, Rep. Ro Khanna felt the decision was a vindication of a fight he's been engaged in for years. In 2017, Khanna, a progressive Democrat from California, introduced a measure that came to be known as the Yemen War Powers resolution. It was intended to curtail US military support for the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen, which has created a humanitarian crisis in the country. At the time, there was very little support on Capitol Hill. Now, the policy appears to have been embraced by the White House. In an interview with CNN, Khanna called the move "a profound and historic shift" that marks a new chapter in the US relationship with Saudi Arabia. "We're being explicit and bold and open to the Saudis saying, 'no, this is not a war we support,'" the congressman...

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., called Thursday for the implementation of a taxpayer-funded "federal job guarantee" program to combat systematic inequality and aid the U.S. economy’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. In a non-binding resolution introduced in the House, Pressley argued a federal job program would "finally eliminate the moral and economic scourge of involuntary unemployment" and address instances of economic bias based on race, gender or background. Pressley, 47, is considered a member of "The Squad," a group of progressive lawmakers pressuring President Biden to enact sweeping changes to U.S. economic policy. "It’s time to establish a legal right to a job for all people in America. For years, we have legislated hate, harm and injustice in this country. It’s long past time to pursue bold, intentional policies that affirm equity and recognize the dignity and humanity of all people," Pressley said in a statement. "A federal job guarantee is an...

This is why I introduced a resolution highlighting his numerous achievements and his remarkable life,” Lamborn said in a statement. “Liberals often criticized his jests and words with anger and without acknowledging his free speech rights. Rush Limbaugh was a patriot, and his voice will truly be missed. His legacy will not be forgotten.” READ THE RESOLUTION HERE: Rush Limbaugh Resolution by Henry Rodgers on Scribd...

Fletcher has been charged with voluntary manslaughter by Alameda County prosecutors. “Proclaiming a day for Steven Taylor will promote the ongoing process of healing and understanding as we focus on the ongoing work of dismantling systemic racism,” San Leandro Mayor Pauline Cutter said in a statement. Britain’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab urged a “swiftadoption” by the 15-member council of a draft resolution callingfor vaccination ceasefires, warning that 160 million people areat risk of missing out due to instability and conflict. “Local ceasefires are going to be essential to enablelifesaving vaccinations to take place,” Raab said. PC gaming is an expensive hobby, so I wouldn’t blame you if you’re trying to save some money here and there. To that end, if you’re looking for a QHD gaming monitor that’s affordable and loaded with features, Acer’s Nitro XV272U might have your name on it. It costs $300 at Amazon right now, which is the cheapest you’ll find it online. This isn’t the first time it has seen this discount, but I always want to tell people about it when it resurfaces. I actually purchased this monitor the last time it was on sale because it met all of my requirements at a fraction of the price I expected to pay. It’s a 27-inch IPS panel in 1440p resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility. I’ve seen a lot of other monitors on the market with these specs for around $400–500, but it was a...
Utah Republicans are reportedly weighing whether or not to censure the state’s junior senator, Mitt Romney, over his vote to convict President Donald Trump during last week’s impeachment trial. The Salt Lake City Tribune first broke the news on Monday that a resolution had begun circulating among members of the state GOP accusing Romney of having failed to “represent the average conservative Utah Republican voter.” The resolution, whose authors remain unknown, further claims that Romney “embarrassed” Utah by being the only Republican to vote in favor of convicting Trump twice. “Senator Willard Mitt Romney used and uses his senatorial power and influence to undermine [former] Republican President Donald J. Trump,” the resolution reads, adding that Romney “appears to be an agent for the Establishment Deep State.” It is unclear if the resolution will be adopted by the Utah GOP. Romney, who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, was first elected...
As the year continues, Republican officials just keep stooping lower and lower. Using the time meant to be “devoted to county issues,” local Republican officials in Florida attempted to shame and mock a journalist by creating a resolution in her name. The journalist, identified as Isadora Rangel, wrote opinion columns for Florida Today, often criticizing Brevard County officials. As the lone opinion columnist of the paper, she called out numerous members of the commission for that body’s handling of federal funds and often xenophobic resolutions. According to The Washington Post, when Rangel left Florida Today for her new job at the Miami Herald last week, Brevard County commissioners—all Republican—used their power to create a sarcastic resolution that targeted her writing and immigrant background under the guise of “honoring” her work. “Whereas because of her eloquent prose the circulation of Florida Today dropped only 16 percent during her tenure,” Commissioner John...

Officials in Brevard County, Fla., passed a resolution last week offering sarcastic praise for a former Florida Today columnist who recently got a new job at the Miami Herald. The five Brevard County commissioners approved the resolution that they said was “honoring” Isadora Rangel during a Feb. 9 meeting after she departed her role as engagement editor and opinion writer for Florida Today’s editorial board.  Commissioner John Tobia read the resolution aloud, starting by listing her qualifications before it turned more critical, according to a video reported by Florida Today. “Whereas because of her eloquent prose the circulation of Florida Today dropped only 16 percent during her tenure,” Tobia said.  “Whereas her dedication to Brevard is exemplified by her accepting a position with the Miami Herald a mere three years after coming here,” he added. “And whereas her liberal views will be sorely missed by the Brevard Democrats alike…” Following...
Ring is apparently gearing up to release the second-generation version of its high-end Pro video doorbell, based on a listing that went up on Best Buy Canada. That listing has already been removed, but not before Zatz Not Funny! was able to take screenshots with the features noted on the page. It looks like the Ring WiFi Video Doorbell Pro 2 will have a 1,536p video resolution for “expanded Head to Toe View” to make it easier to see who’s at the door and to see if there’s a package waiting for you at your doorstep. As the publication notes, that means the model can be a direct competitor to Arlo’s Essential Video Doorbell, which has a 1,536 x 1,536 resolution and a viewing angle optimized to see visitors from head to toe or packages on the floor. The Pro 2 also has two-way talk and quick replies, as well...
Sen. John Thune (R-SD), the second-ranking Senate Republican, said Friday he could support a resolution to censure President Donald Trump. Thune, the Senate Republican whip, told reporters that he could support a resolution to censure Trump depending on how the resolution was framed. He added that the resolution would have to be “effective.” “I know there are a couple of resolutions out there … I’ve seen a couple of resolutions at least that I think could attract some support,” Thune said. Asked by reporters if he could support one of the resolutions, the South Dakota Republican said, “Yeah.” Thune’s comments arise as the Senate continues to hold the second impeachment trial against Trump. It remains unlikely that the Senate could convict Trump, as 17 Senate Republicans would have to vote to convict. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) drafted a resolution that would censure the 45th president. It’s official, NVIDIA has launched a plugin for DLSS 2.0 technology in the Unreal Marketplace, a very smart move by the American company, since this facilitates and simplifies the integration of this technology in games that use the Unreal Engine 4.26 graphics engine. The evolution that this NVIDIA technology has undergone it has been very curious, and I think it is necessary to take a look at it to better understand the progress it has made, and why it has become one of the most important solutions in the graphics sector today. When NVIDIA released DLSS 1.0, it created a lot of expectations that were unfortunately not met. The basis of this technology was the same as what we saw with the DLSS 2.0, but it was not applied correctly, and this produced a blurred result and a loss of image quality too large which, on top of that, was...
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra has starred in various information in recent weeks. Nevertheless, none of them have revealed as many details about this new product as the recent video published by the channel Tech Buff PH – Removed hours later from the platform. In it are shown two real and apparently functional units of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. One of them is white, while the other has a black back. Ahead, the design of this phone looks similar to the standard Mi 11 which the brand announced in China in December and which will arrive in Europe at the end of February. The screen is curved, has a perforation in the upper left corner and occupies almost the entire surface. From behind, instead, the Mi 11 Ultra does have some differences. GENEVA (Reuters) - A draft resolution on Myanmar was formally submitted by Britain and the European Union on Thursday, a day ahead of the U.N. Human Rights Council holding a special session on the crisis since the military coup. The language appeared somewhat watered down from an initial draft circulated informally that would have condemned the coup. The latest text "strongly deplores" the coup but still calls for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other officials, as well as access for U.N. human rights monitors to the country. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The Anchorage Assembly has voted to indefinitely postpone a resolution against one of its own members who was criticized for online comments about vehicle license plates that appeared to glorify Nazis. The assembly voted unanimously Tuesday against the measure that would have publicly acknowledged Jamie Allard's behavior as actions breaching the public trust, the Anchorage Daily News reported. Allard drew public criticism for social media comments she made in late January as photos of state-issued vanity plates reading “FUHRER” and “3REICH” circulated online. The Nazi regime in Germany was referred to as the Third Reich, with its leader, Adolf Hitler, known as the Fuhrer. Allard said “fuhrer” in German means leader and “reich” means realm, in social media comments in response to a blogger’s article about the plates. “If you speak the language fluently, you would know that the English definition of the word, the progressives...

The channel ElAnalistaDeBits has deepened in the performance that had been commented previously, pointing out some aspects that were not correct. Super Mario 3D World runs to a resolution of 900p in dock mode and 720p in laptop mode – native resolution of your screen – while on WiiU the resolution is 720p. The performance is similar, targeting 60 fps although it is indicated that it suffers “a little stuttering when collecting stars. By Sebastian Quiroz 0 COMMENTS 02/09/2021 3:17 pm 4K? Forget this. 1080p? It is not necessary. Players once again prove that they can enjoy great AAA works without the need for a visual spectacle. To prove this, a fan has managed to run Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition on PC with the lowest possible specs, to the degree that the game looks at 72p. Recently, a youtuber, known as Kryzzp, published a video where we can see that Horizon Zero Dawn can run at a resolution of just 128x72p. This experiment was made a reality thanks to an Nvidia GT 710 graphics card, a fairly basic and simple add-on for a PC. Little by little, Kryzzp lowers the resolution of the game. Going from 1080p to 720p, then to 360p, culminating in 72p. Undoubtedly, Horizon Zero Dawn seems to be at the level of a game of the...

Nebraska’s Lincoln County Republican Party on Sunday voted to censure Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), one of the U.S. Senate’s most vocal critics of former President Donald Trump, the North Platte Telegraph first reported.  Lincoln County Republican Party’s 32 members voted unanimously for the measure, said chairwoman Carol Friesen. In the resolution, Sasse is accused of “dismissing the legitimate concerns” regarding allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The resolution also takes aim at Sasse for his conduct toward Trump, saying he failed to “respect the high office of the President of the United States.” Additionally, Sasse is criticized for “statements inciting radical proposals and retributions against law-abiding elected senators,” such as referring to Sens.               Six legislators want their colleagues in the Georgia General Assembly to declare, by resolution, that racism in the state is a public health crisis. Those legislators proposed the resolution this month. The lead sponsor, State Rep. Sandra Scott (D-Rex), said Monday that the government can help remedy the problem. The Georgia Star News asked Scott what will happen if and when Georgia legislators approve her resolution. She suggested that officials with the Georgia Department of Public Health would address racism. “We are looking for the department of health to come in with some solutions to it and get involved with the community health departments, and they have got to do training. Not only do we need training with our local health departments, but we need training with our medical people and our doctors,” Scott said. “Our medical people need to go through diversity...

What are we actually looking at here? A rock? An enemy? Does it even matter compared to the glory of running Horizon Zero Dawn at the eye-watering resolution of 128 pixels wide by 72 pixels tall? Yes, a YouTuber has managed to play Horizon Zero Dawn at 72p, and that’s not a typo. The YouTuber in question is Kryzzp, who also goes by zWORMz Gaming, and he ran the game at this absurd resolution to test the performance of an Nvidia GT 710, an ultra-budget video card that barely cost $40 brand-new back in 2016. Incredibly, he manages to fend off one of the robotic enemies, though it’s impossible to tell how much ammo he had left after doing so. To put that 128×72 resolution in context, it’s actually less than a modern color graphing calculator like the TI-84 Plus CE, whose 320×240 screen has far more pixels. You might...

The US Senate passed a budget resolution that is a crucial step in the swift passage of President Joe Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion bailout plan, without Republican support. Vice President Kamala Harris chaired the session to overcome the tie with her vote. The economic stimulus includes support checks for $ 1,400. Democrats applauded when Harris announced the result, 51-50 in favor of the resolution, at around 5:30 a.m. During the session, which lasted all night, senators voted on amendments that would define the contours of the COVID-19 relief bill. The bill returns to the House of Representatives, which must approve it again with the changes introduced by the Senate. The final sanction will begin the next phase of project development, in charge of various commissions. Senate Majority Bloc Leader Democrat Chuck Schumer said the approval was “the first big step to get our country back on...

The 219-209 vote in the Democrat-controlled House fell almost exactly along party lines, with US Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) the only member to break ranks and oppose the plan. The move sets up a “reconciliation” process in which Congressional committees will draft a bill based on Biden’s sweeping proposal, which includes $1,400 stimulus checks and a $15-an-hour minimum wage. The House of Representatives on Friday passed an updated budget resolution sent over from the Senate that paves the way for Democrats to push through President Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package without needing any GOP support. The vote was 219-209 to adopt the budget framework that the Senate approved early Friday morning thanks to a tie-breaking vote cast by Vice President Kamala Harris.  The measure unlocks the process for lawmakers to now draft a final coronavirus relief bill under the budget reconciliation rules that would let Democrats avoid a GOP filibuster and pass the major stimulus legislation on their own as long as their caucus remains united. The House approved a Senate budget resolution Friday, kicking off the process of passing President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion Covid aid package. Top House Democrats ahead of the vote met with Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “where we discussed how this legislation meets the needs of the American people,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, said Friday. The House will begin writing the bill next week, when the Senate is set to be consumed by former President Trump’s impeachment trial, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 9. It is expected to largely mirror Biden’s proposal, including his provision to raise the minimum wage to $15. The budget measure includes language that will allow Senate Democrats to pass a Covid aid bill over the objections of GOP lawmakers by lowering the required votes for passage from 60 to 51. The Senate, which is split evenly between Democrats and Republicans,...
The Senate voted 97-3 on Feb. 4 in favor of a resolution to keep America’s Embassy to Israel in Jerusalem. Oklahoma Republican Senator Jim Inhofe pushed for the resolution to be included as part of the budget Congress is currently considering. He called the embassy move “an important message.” Later today, I will be pushing for a vote on my budget resolution amendment that would make the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem permanent, effectively preventing it from being downgraded or moved. It’s an important message that we acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. — Sen. Jim Inhofe (@JimInhofe) February 4, 2021 The vote is a win for former President Donald Trump, who recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and began plans to move the embassy from Tel Aviv in 2017. New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer welcomed the move at the time. (RELATED: FLASHBACK: All The Times Past Presidents Promised...
By JOHN HANNA, AP Political Writer TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's administration plans to begin giving COVID-19 vaccinations to state prison inmates next week, ignoring a call from the Republican-controlled Legislature to postpone their inoculations so that others can get them first. Spokesperson Carol Pitts said in an email that the Department of Corrections has not yet vaccinated any inmates but would start giving them throughout its nine facilities. Her email Thursday came as the Kansas Senate was debating a resolution condemning Kelly's decision to make inmates eligible for shots during the second phase of the state's vaccine rollout, which launched last month. The Senate approved the nonbinding resolution on a 28-8 vote, with all but one vote for it coming from its Republican majority. The measure calls on Kelly to abandon the policy involving inmates “without delay," but the governor already had signaled her intent to...
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Philadelphia City Council moved to honor Eyewitness News anchor Ukee Washington for his outstanding work and service to the community on Thursday. The resolution was introduced by Councilmember David Oh and co-sponsored by five additional members. The resolution said “The City of Philadelphia has been well served by Ukee Washington’s professionalism, integrity and positive character for decades.” It comes after a Los Angeles Times article cited disparaging comments allegedly made about Washington by a high-level CBS executive. The executive is one of two who currently remain on administrative leave. In January, Washington thanked the public and colleagues for their support, saying, “I do believe we shall overcome.”
AUBURN, Maine (AP) — The day after commissioners in a Maine county met to consider a resolution against wearing masks in public, the county sheriff said he and his staff won't attend future meetings in person because of the risk of contracting COVID-19. “I would encourage the use of Zoom for meeting purposes and if you do not wish to have staff present I would also be willing to participate via Zoom," Androscoggin County Sheriff Eric Samson wrote Thursday, the Sun Journal reported. He added, “This is not a political stance or a criticism in any regard, I just need to look out for staff health and safety." Many people attending Wednesday's meeting did not wear masks. Up for discussion was a proposal by Commissioner Isaiah Lary opposing executive orders from Gov. Janet Mills mandating face coverings in public, and limiting the size of gatherings and other restrictions. More than...
