After being underrated for a long time, Damian Lillard has gained the respect of most fans over the last few seasons. He has an expectational ability to hit big shots when it matters the most. Additionally, Dame’s scoring ability is out of the world. Whenever the Blazers are in a tough spot, he has been there for the team. Despite such qualities, Lillard has never won an NBA Championship. In fact, he is yet to play in the NBA finals in his career. Still, some regard him as the best point guard in the league, over the likes of Steph Curry. On November 20th, 2019, Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur. At the time, the high-profile appointment was met with mixed reviews from those within the footballing world, but the Portuguese head coach is proving the doubters wrong. While pinpointing one reason for Mourinho’s early success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would somewhat undermine the complexity of management, the development of Harry Kane mustn’t be ignored. So, let’s take a look at how the Englishman is spearheading Mourinho’s North London revolution. Adding More to His Game As touched on above, few believed that Mourinho would succeed in getting the most out of Spurs’ world-class talent. Following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, Paul Merson suggested that Kane may have needed to seriously think about his future under the Portuguese coach. However, such suggestions couldn’t have been more wrong. In terms of...

Although Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers barely made it to the playoffs, Lillard’s incredible performance last season caught everyone’s attention. He showed what he was capable of and has now joined the debate of who the best point guards in the league are right now. Lillard has voluntarily taken it upon himself to take the Blazers to a title. A supporting cast of CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony makes his job easier, but the burden of taking the team forward will fall on Lillard. And without a doubt, he has been doing an incredible job of this. However, the Blazers fell short in front of the Los Angeles Lakers, which led to their premature exit from the Bubble. This was because Lillard had to leave the bubble due to injuries, so one can see the importance he holds. Many may argue that there are far better point guards...
SEATTLE (AP) — If anyone can relate to the situation currently facing the New York Giants, it’s Pete Carroll. A decade ago, Carroll was in his first season in Seattle. And for the entirety of that season, the NFC West was an ongoing punchline because of its futility that ended with the Seahawks winning the division title with a losing record. It sounds awfully familiar to the NFC East this year, which the Giants currently lead at 4-7 heading into Sunday’s matchup against the NFC West-leading Seahawks. “There were disparaging comments and people appalled at the thought that a team with a losing record would be in the playoffs, which I thought was hilarious at the time,” Carroll said. “But, you’re in your own division, you got to win your own division, and that means you got to have a better record than the rest of the...

This brought up an interesting quarterback battle because on one hand, Walker has experience with coach Matt Rhule at Temple. On the other hand, Grier was a third-round draft pick in 2019. When asked whether each factor would play into his decision, Rhule said he’d go with whoever was best for the team. “I think the minute the guys in the locker room say he’s playing this guy because he was drafted, or this guy because he has history with him… People can think those things, but if that’s true, you erode the competitive aspect of the team,” Rhule said. “So I...

Cam Newton. David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports Cam Newton's one-year deal with the New England Patriots is looking like the steal of the NFL offseason. The Patriots were the only team to offer Newton a deal, raising questions over what NFL front offices were thinking letting him slip to Bill Belichick. While it's only been two games, Newton has already proven well worth the investment for the Patriots, and could be in line for a Pro Bowl season. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. For the first few months of free agency, Cam Newton couldn't find a job. The 2015 NFL MVP's time with the Carolina Panthers was done, having not played through the 2019 season due to a foot injury. The year before that, Newton sustained a mid-season shoulder injury that hobbled his performance for the second half of the year. While there were questions about...

La Liga Santander Only 288.4 million in spending with Pjanic and Morata as the most expensive reinforcements LaLiga de los cuts kicks off this Saturday with few brilliant signings and the lowest spending in many years. Only 288.4 million euros in reinforcements and many of these coming from operations already closed in the past such as lvaro Morata (56 million to Chelsea) and other bartering such as the signing of Pjanic by Bara (60 million in the Arthur deal with Juventus). Eight teams have not spent a euro this summer. Starting with the champion, Real Madrid and ending with the newly promoted Elche and Huesca. A clear symptom that the coronavirus crisis has fully impacted our football. Something that contrasts with the Premier, where three times as much has been invested in signings than in Spain: 825 million euros. The most significant case has...

It is perhaps the league's defining trait in a tradition-obsessed sports landscape. When fans grew tired of the original East-West All-Star format, the league mixed it up. First, we got the All-Star Draft, then we got the Elam Ending. The Elam Ending was such a resounding success that the league has said it expects to adopt the format for future All-Star Games. The NBA invented the idea of the Draft Lottery to combat tanking and has tinkered with it on several occasions to try to find the right balance between not incentivizing losing while still...

In a year where sports around the globe have been severely hampered by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s hard to believe that there’s a competition out there that may have actually benefitted from the virus pause. That tournament is the Champions League, specifically the knockout stage starting with the quarterfinal round that kicked off on Wednesday with Paris Saint-Germain’s thrilling 2-1 last-gasp win against Atalanta, the tournament’s Cinderella side. As a result of the pandemic, UEFA scrambled after the tournament was put on pause in March while in the midst of the Round of 16. Once Europe’s domestic competitions were completed last month, the Champions League was given a hasty makeover to accommodate the compressed summer timeline. The revamped Champions League has been an instant successIn order to do so, the Champions League was...

BOSTON (CBS) — Patrick Chung knows that his NFL career is winding down. The Patriots safety will turn 33 in August, and after 11 seasons in the league, he probably only has a few more years left as a professional football player. But when it came to playing football this year, amid an ongoing global pandemic, Chung has very little doubt that opting out was the best decision for him and his family. Chung is one of six Patriots players to opt out of the upcoming season, which he admitted was not an easy decision to make. He’d love to be out there for Bill Belichick as the Patriots open a new chapter without Tom Brady at quarterback. But when weighing the risks that go with playing football during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was really only one decision to make for Chung. “I’m in the latter end of my career...

The Twins started last season hot and pretty much stayed hot, keeping at least a share of the American League Central for all but one day on the way to winning 101 games and hitting a major league-record 307 home runs. Starting well always helps, but in a 60-game season, it might be imperative. Had last season ended after 60 games, Twins reliever Sergio Romo pointed out Monday, “We definitely would have had a different champion.” That’s because on June 5, when the Twins were 40-20 and had a 9.5-game lead on Cleveland, the Washington Nationals were fourth in the NL East, 6.5 games behind first-place Philadelphia. “Those that start off hot, it’s gonna be crucial, in my option,” said Romo, who closed the San Francisco Giants’ World Series-clinching game in 2012. “But it’s not necessarily going to be the best teams on paper, I feel, that...
