Specific arenas for each round weren’t announced Monday. The field for the NIT will be announced after the NCAA Tournament is set March 14. The NIT champion has been...

And while Monopoly still retains its, well, near-monopoly on the board game market, there are about a zillion other choices. Released within the last couple of years, these board games are definite contenders for a lockdown game night. After all, who can resist a game that lets you design your own City of Light, channel your inner Eichler or solve a museum mystery? Tiny Towns Between its premise — you’re the mayor of a tiny town populated by adorable woodlands creatures — and the cute little wooden building blocks, you might mistake this for a children’s game. It’s not. Released in 2019, the game is aimed at ages 14+, and its strategic elements will test your urban planning and...

Whether they produce better results, that’s what the Baltimore Orioles slugger and his team want to see. Stuck in a years-long slump, three weeks shy of his 35th birthday and still in the midst of a rich contract, Davis is beginning another season in hopes of recapturing what he used to be at the plate. Or anything even close. “I felt like I was letting our fans down. That was a big deal to me. It took a lot out of me,” Davis said in a video call Friday from camp in Sarasota, Florida. The major league home run champion with 53 in 2013 and 47 more in 2015, Davis has batted under .200 in each of the last three years as the strikeouts continued to pile up. In there, too,...

Right-hander Kevin Gausman’s impressive day at spring training had nothing to do with any of the usual statistics, like strikeouts or innings pitched. Nope. He dominated Fungo golf. Batting practice for San Francisco’s pitchers took on a non-traditional look Thursday at Scottsdale Stadium in Arizona. “We played a little game of Fungo golf with the pitchers just to get them swinging the bats a little bit, just kind of ramping up very, very slowly the intensity and the feeling of having a bat in their hands and finding the sweet spot,” manager Gabe Kapler said of the lighter training bats called Fungos, which players hit toward targets the same way coaches hit infield practice. “So that was a lot of fun. We hit balls and chased them around the diamond. It’s just a unique and fun way to practice something.” There was no need to hush the crowd, since...

PARIS (AP) — The path toward a fourth straight league title is becoming increasingly complicated for Paris Saint-Germain. The club that has grown accustomed to dominating the French league has six losses already, including two at home against its main three rivals. With 12 rounds remaining, PSG is in third place following last Sunday’s 2-0 home loss to fourth-place Monaco, which closed the gap on Mauricio Pochettini’s side to two points. Leader Lille is four points ahead of PSG after losing only twice, while second-place Lyon is one point ahead. PSG still has a crucial stretch coming up, with a home game against Lille and a trip to Lyon shaped around an expected Champions League quarterfinal. In theory, then, Saturday’s game at last-place Dijon should be straightforward for a side which routed Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg of their round-of-16 game, and has one of the world’s best...

The two-time NBA champion and Heat assistant coach would fall on his face like so many other NBA guys before him. A funny thing happened on his way down, however. Howard won, and won right away. He hired a terrific staff led by former St. Joseph’s head coach Phil Martelli to show him the ropes. He kept assistant Saddi Washington, who helped with the program’s current players. Howard didn’t think college would be easy, like so many other NBA coaches have. He worked to...

New York Yankees: Aaron Judge named #21 in MLB’s Top 100 players By: William Parlee February 17, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was named the 21st best player out of the top 100 players right now. Nevertheless, he hit 9 home runs in his first 18 games before his injuries. That’s one home run every 12.75 at-bats. When he returned from the injuries late in the season, he...
