The NBA All-Star voting divides a lot of opinions. When the results were announced for the All-Star reserves, fans were furious to find out that Devin Booker was snubbed. The Phoenix Suns star has been having a great season so far. His team is also reflecting his form and is fourth in the strong Western Conference. The NBA eventually ended up naming Booker as a replacement for Anthony Davis, who is going to miss the All-Star game because of injury. This is now the second year in a row that Booker has made it as a replacement. While he still qualifies as an All-Star as a replacement, many believe he should have directly made it to the list. Among the people arguing for this is former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. Feb 13, 2021; Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul (3) and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker (1) celebrate...
The former President of the Republic was found guilty in the wiretapping affair. Lformer head of state Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced Monday in Paris to three years’ imprisonment, including one firm, for corruption and influence peddling in the so-called “eavesdropping” case, born in 2014 of telephone interceptions with its historical lawyer Thierry Herzog. Nicolas Sarkozy thus becomes the second former president convicted under the Fifth Republic, after Jacques Chirac in 2011 in the case of fictitious jobs in the city of Paris. The criminal court considered that a “corruption pact” had been concluded between the former president, now 66 years old, his lawyer Me Thierry Herzog and the former high magistrate Gilbert Azibert, also sentenced to three years of prison, one of which is closed. On December 8, the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) had demanded against Nicolas Sarkozy four years’ imprisonment, two of which were firm, believing...
Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced Monday to three years in prison, two of which were suspended, for corruption and influence peddling in the so-called “wiretapping” affair, a first for a President of the Fifth Republic. The case is that, known as “eavesdropping”, born in 2014 of telephone interceptions with its historical lawyer Thierry Herzog. In it, the former head of state was found guilty of promising to help a former magistrate, Gilbert Azibert, obtain a post in Monaco in exchange for confidential information about an investigation into suspicion of illegal payments he would have received from billionaire Liliane Bettencourt, heir to L’Oréal, for the financing of his 2007 election campaign. The prosecution was based in particular on telephone exchanges between the former head of state and his lawyer, Thierry Herzog, through a telephone line registered in the name of Paul Bismuth. Gilbert committed to LSU out of Marietta High School as the No. 5 player in the country in the 2020 recruiting class. London — One of the strongest weapons against the troubling number of new coronavirus variants in the United States and worldwide may be one vaccine the FDA hasn't approved yet. Earlier this month, the World Health Organization gave the go ahead for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to be used internationally, and it is already being distributed in countries around the world to help fight COVID-19. But AstraZeneca is awaiting the results of clinical trials in America, which it expects to wrap up in the coming weeks, before it makes its application to the FDA. In the meantime, buoyed by the fact that their vaccine is relatively easy to update, scientists at Britain's Oxford University are modifying it in a preemptive strike to prevent new coronavirus variants, including the variant first discovered in South Africa, from taking hold. "Plug and play"Chief designer Professor Sarah Gilbert told CBS News that her team...
San Francisco’s Democratic district attorney announced Friday that his convicted murderer father received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in a New York prison. "Amazing news," Chesa Boudin tweeted Friday afternoon. "My incarcerated father just got his first vaccine shot! I hope that once I get my vaccine, and the prison reopens for visitors, I will be able to see him again for the first time in over a year." Boudin’s dad, David Gilbert, 76, was convicted of felony murder in connection with the infamous Brinks’ heist in 1981, which left two police officers and a guard dead. His mother, Kathy Boudin, was also convicted and paroled in 2003. The former administrator of a Pennsylvania nursing home has been indicted on federal charges of health care fraud, state authorities said. Susan Gilbert, 60 -- Mount Lebanon Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, a sister nursing home to Brighton -- has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, health care fraud, and obstruction of a federal audit, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro and U.S. Attorney Scott Brady said Thursday. Gilbert is accused of directing employees to falsify records to give the appearance that the facility met federal and state staffing requirements, Shapiro and Brady said. She and other co-conspirators directed administrative and management-level nursing staff, including the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing, and other administrative staff, to “clock in” for shifts but not actually work between October 2018 and February 2020, the indictment says.  In doing so, MLRWC created falsified timecard documentation that made it appear as though these...

The son of a Nyack cop slain during the 1981 infamous Brink’s armored-car robbery says he is upset that San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin is lobbying Gov. Andrew Cuomo to free Boudin’s killer dad in the case. Boudin’s father, David Gilbert, is serving a 75-years-to-life prison sentence for his role in the crime that killed Nyack Police Sgt. Edward O’Grady, Officer Waverly Brown and Brink’s guard Peter Paige. “[Boudin] says that irrespective of whether his father spends more time incarcerated doesn’t bring back his victims,” Edward O’Grady III, a Navy captain, told The Post on Friday. “That’s the punishment the state decides to mete out for committing crime,’’ O’Grady III said. “Of course it doesn’t bring the victims back, but that’s the point. That’s not how our system works. [Boudin’s dad] is in jail not because of any belief that it would bring my father back but because he’s...
Getty Dallas Cowboys Regardless of whether Dak Prescott remains atop the depth chart, the Dallas Cowboys will be required to name a backup quarterback for the 2021 campaign. An early but “logical” choice, per the team’s official website, is Garrett Gilbert, who ended last season as the No. 2 QB behind fill-in starter Andy Dalton, an impending free agent. “The biggest quarterback question in Dallas continues to be, without question, Prescott’s contract status. The No. 2 spot is yet to be determined, too,” Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com recently wrote. “Andy Dalton is set to be an unrestricted free agent after leading the Cowboys to three straight wins and the brink of the playoffs last season. For the first time in his career, he has a chance to hit the open market in March and seek a starting opportunity elsewhere. If that happens, Gilbert becomes a logical option to...

The movie, "The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother's Hunt for Justice" tells the story from the point of view of Hudson Valley resident Mari Gilbert's search for what happened to her daughter Shannan, one of the 11 victims found.  The movie airs at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20 on Lifetime.  In the movie, after Shannan fails to come home in May of 2010, her mother knows something is terribly wrong. Pleading with police to take her concerns seriously, she keeps pushing the police for answers.  Gilbert's insistence that her daughter, a graduate of Ellenville High School in Ulster County, not be overlooked eventually leads to 10 bodies of young women discovered buried in shallow graves along Ocean Parkway.  Though the search for the killer is still ongoing, Gilbert's passionate dedication to giving her daughter and other forgotten women a voice,...

Gilbert Burns lost to his former teammate Kamaru Usman at UFC 258. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ managed to get a TKO win despite an early flurry from ‘Durinho’ who caught Usman with an overhand hook and almost dropped the champion. That was the most trouble Usman has been in, in his UFC career. Unfortunately, Burns rushed too much and couldn’t finish the champion. He gassed himself out in the process, which led to the finish. Now, the former challenger is looking to get back on the horse and be back in title contention sooner rather than later. And he has some choice opponents in mind. “One fight and back to the title would only be Colby Covington. That’s the only one. Or Leon Edwards, if until May he doesn’t get another opponent, and then I fight him. That’s the fight. So I don’t know who I want. I want every single...

Paul Finebaum just ripped Ed Orgeron and his LSU football program to shreds after former five-star tight end Arik Gilbert transferred to cross-divisional rival Florida. With former five-star tight end Arik Gilbert leaving Ed Orgeron’s LSU football program after only one season to go play for SEC rival Florida, you better believe Paul Finebaum had something to say about it. He returned home following a 55-17 loss to Alabama in early December and left open the door to return to Baton Rogue. But he ended up in the transfer portal and clearly on coach Dan Mullen’s radar. Pitts left school after his record-setting...
