By Kelly Young, American Rifleman I sense a pattern beginning to emerge. It’s almost as if owner and CEO Dennis Reese walked into a Springfield Armory product strategy meeting at some point in 2018 and decreed, “I want you to make everything smaller!”—because much of the company’s design focus since right about that time has been on compactification. Heck, even the M1A’s most recent new model is the relatively abridged 16″-barreled Tanker. Fresh off the introduction of the Hellcat (the manufacturer’s superb contribution to the budding yet immediately booming micro-compact pistol market), Springfield is pushing the bounds of conventional size constraints yet again in 2020 with the announcement of a trio of exceptionally small and agile additions to its Saint family of AR-platform firearms: the Edge PDW, Edge EVAC and Victor .308 pistols. And as an outspoken proponent of explicitly short and light firearms—for both entirely practical and wholly recreational reasons—I’m loving...

The residents of Caerphilly were taking no chances. Pubs and cafes locked doors and boarded windows, the local constabulary called in reinforcements and divine protection was sought by a Pentecostal preacher whose tirade outside the cinema could not have been more furious had Satan himself been about to appear. The four skinny young men scheduled to perform in the Welsh market town on that cold December evening in 1976 were the Sex Pistols, the punk rockers who were to become one of the most notorious bands in rock 'n' roll history. But they met their match in the good folk of Caerphilly. Even before Johnny Rotten could scream 'I am an anti-Christ' — from the opening lines of the Pistols' first single Anarchy In The UK — the hundreds gathered outside were belting out Christmas carols as loudly as they could. Later it was judged that, while the Pistols had...

Va Variety we have learned that FX has given the green light to a new limited series centered on the iconic punk rock band, Sex Pistols. The six-part series will be directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (‘Yesterday’) and will be based on the memoir by band guitarist Steve Jones, ‘Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol’. “Imagine breaking into the world of ‘The Crown’ and ‘Downton Abbey’ with your friends and screaming your songs and your fury at all that they represent,” said Boyle. “This was the moment when British society and culture changed forever. It was the detonation point of British street culture … where ordinary young men took the stage and vent their fury and fashion … and everyone had to watch and listen … and everyone either feared or followed them. The Sex Pistols. At their center was a charming young kleptman and uneducated,...
In March 2019, the development of a film was reported about the legendary British punk rock band that revolutionized the music scene in the 70s; a film that (it is worth saying) finally never came to fruition. However, not two years passed for a new project inspired by Sex pistols was announced, in miniseries format and featuring the award-winning Danny boyle in the management chair. According to THR, the FX television network has given the green light to a miniseries project inspired by the book Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol, which brings together the memories of the famous guitarist of the group Steve Jones. As director and executive producer is Danny Boyle, who more than a decade ago swept the Oscars for his drama Slumdog Millionaire and in 2019 released Yesterday, a comedy enlivened by songs from another iconic English band (The Beatles). “It’s great to be...
Within music there are a lot of fascinating and spectacular stories about bands that came to revolutionize the industry. And without a doubt, lThe Sex Pistols race is amazing, in just three years, Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Paul Cook and Sid Vicious became punk rock iconsThat is why no one should be surprised that his life and work are seen in different media, such as film and television. For years we have had different tapes that talk about the trajectory of this group. In 1979 appeared The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle, a mockumentary directed by Julien Temple about their last years together; by 1986 it arrived Sid and Nancy about the bass player’s turbulent relationship with his controversial girlfriend and in the early 2000s it saw the light The Filth and the Fury, a documentary in form under the supervision of the same Temple. Sid Vicious...

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) withdrew the guidance on its proposed AR pistol reclassification Wednesday. This is a stark reversal of the ATF’s steady push toward changing rules and placing some AR pistols with stabilizer braces under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA) and/or Gun Control Act (GCA). On November 18, 2020, Breitbart News reported that the ATF was working with President-Elect Joe Biden to go after AR pistols with stabilizer braces. This pursuit resulted in the ATF being posed to reevaluate and reclassify a number of AR pistols with stabilizer braces, placing them under the same registration and taxation rules as suppressors, machine guns, short-barreled shotguns, and short-barreled rifles. On December 22, 2020, Breitbart News informed readers that the ATF had posted guidance for AR pistol reclassification to the Federal Register. On that same day, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and 89 other U.S....
Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) criticized the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) move toward reclassifying AR pistol with stabilizer braces, describing it as an “injustice.” He did this in a December 22, 2020, letter, addressed to the ATF and signed by Hudson and 89 other U.S. Representatives. Hudson and the other Reps. point out the ATF originally recognized stabilizer braces as an aide for disabled combat veterans to “who still enjoy recreational shooting but could not reliably control heavy pistols without assistance.” Hudson and the other Reps. note that such an application for the braces means the ATF sees “legitimate uses” for stabilizer braces, yet the agency is now pivoting 180 degrees toward placing some AR pistols with braces under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA) and/or the Gun Control Act (GCA). On December 22, 2020, Breitbart News reported the ATF is accepting public comment on their plans...
Proposed guidance regulating AR-15 pistols is touching off anger among Second Amendment activists and sparking controversy. According to The Washington Free Beacon the proposal by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) could require millions of AR-15 pistols and similar firearms — which are designed with braces that strap on to a shooter’s forearm —  to be registered, turned in, dismantled, or destroyed. But the Beacon said the standards for determining the devices’ legality provide no objective measures. In addition, it noted the ATF said it may also use undisclosed measures to determine the legality. And the Beacon reported the guidance could mean that owners of the majority of the estimated three to four million AR-15 pistols and similar firearms may have to register with the ATF. Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America (GOA), said the guidance shows that the "ATF has gone off...
Twelve defendants face federal felony charges related to illegal firearms possession after their indictments by a grand jury in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. Those charged include multiple convicted felons, many of them on state probation for previous weapons or drug charges. The cases are investigated under the umbrella of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal firearms, and in coordination with the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF). “Our office continues to hammer home a message that we will not tolerate illegal firearms possession, particularly by convicted felons, drug traffickers and gang members,” said U.S. Attorney Bobby L. Christine. “In collaboration with the ATF and other law enforcement partners, we will work to make our communities safer.” Those named in federal indictments from the November term of the U.S. District Court...
A report from the NRA-ILA suggests the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is already working with former Vice President Joe Biden to go after AR-15 pistol braces. On October 7, 2020, Breitbart News reported that the ATF reclassified a small sliver of AR-15 pistols with stabilizer braces as Short Barrel Rifles (SBRs), thereby placing them under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA). The pistol targeted by the ATF was made by Q, LLC, and is called the “Honey Badger.” However, the ATF made clear that two other Q, LLC pistols with stabilizer braces — the Sugar Weasel and the Mini Fix — may fall under NFA purview as well. Three days later, on October 10, 2020, the Trump administration made clear they were looking into the ATF’s decision to reclassify some AR-15 pistols and place them under the NFA. But Biden is claiming victory in...

Rogue elements of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are continuing their assault on certain types of commonly-owned semi-automatic pistols. According to the law firm Wiley, ATF has developed a new interpretation of “handgun” that threatens to curtail the supply of foreign-manufactured pistols and could put many law-abiding gun owners in legal jeopardy. In early October, NRA-ILA alerted gun owners to an ATF decision regarding firearm manufacturer Q LLC’s Honey Badger pistol. Back in August, ATF sent a cease and desist letter to Q LLC notifying the company that the agency had determined the Honey Badger, which comes equipped with a pistol stabilizing brace – to be subject to the National Firearms Act as a short-barreled rifle. The determination was very concerning for many in the firearms industry and community, as pistol stabilizing braces have become a popular accessory to many commonly-owned semi-automatic pistols. Since 2012, ATF had repeatedly found...
A gun store chain has reported that it sold more than 80,000 rounds of ammo in just the first half hour after opening. The Northwest Indiana Times reported that Blythe’s Sport Shops, which had locations in Valparaiso and Griffith, Indiana, had a shipment of 80,000 rounds of 9mm ammunition come in on election day. It was reportedly gone in just 30 minutes. The store’s chief operating officer, Kyle Goranson, told the local outlet that the ammo, which is widely used in semi-automatic pistols like the Glock 17, Springfield XD, and Beretta 92, has not been the only type that has been hard to find. Shotgun slugs, used for hunting big game, also have been hard to find. Goranson noted that many people had become first-time gun buyers during the pandemic this spring and the civil unrest over the summer, according to the Times. Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, perhaps better known as “Johnny Rotten,” says President Donald Trump has “broken the Washington criminality that has caused problems for all of us.” “I met him once. I know, what an offensive fella. But he went into politics as the complete individual. That’s what we want,” said Lydon in a recent interview with Fox News. “I don’t like politicians really, generally speaking, not many of them at all. I don’t trust of them. He broke that system, that Washington criminality that’s caused the problems for all of us in the first place.” Lydon also defended President Trump’s attacks on the mainstream media, stating, “more power to him.” “I mean, from day one, I remember like CNN were bitching about Donald Trump’s tie length. ‘Oh, look at that length, that’s obviously indicating something.’ “It’s not an issue,” said Lydon. “Then as time went by the criticisms became more and...
John Lydon knows a thing or two about cancel culture. In March 1977, when he went by the name Johnny Rotten as lead singer of the Sex Pistols, the band’s record company EMI not only ripped up the Pistols’ record contract six days after they signed it, the label also destroyed all 25,000 copies of their first single, “God Save the Queen,” a sendup of the royal family released to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee. To add insult to injury, the song was also banned from radio, but “God Save the Queen” (now released by Richard Branson's Virgin Records) kept flying off the shelves anyway, and the record made it all the way to No. 2 on Billboard’s British charts. You wouldn’t have known that from looking at those charts, however, as the banned song was represented instead by a blank space, right below Rod Stewart's "The First Cut Is...

After backing Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Johnny Rotten is now supporting President Trump for the 2020 election. “I’d be daft as a brush not to,” the former Sex Pistols frontman, whose real name is John Lydon, told U.K.’s The Guardian on Sunday.  “He’s the only sensible choice now that [Democratic presidential nominee Joe] Biden is up — he’s incapable of being the man at the helm,” added the 64-year-old. When asked if he was definitely voting for Trump, 74, Rotten cried out, “I am!” and showed off a MAGA cap. The White House is investigating the ATF’s decision to increase regulation on Q, LLC’s (Q) Honey Badger Pistol, and the agency is warning that other AR-15 pistols may be targeted as well. Brietbart News reported that the ATF sent Q a Cease & Desist letter, dated August 3, 2020, announcing a reclassification of Q’s Honey Badger Pistol as a short barrel rifle (SBR). This means the pistol now falls under the purview of the National Firearms Act (1934), as do machine guns, suppressors, and SBRs. The ATF letter noted that two other Q pistols–the Sugar Weasel and the Mini Fix–may also fall under NFA purview. Q responded to the ATF by issuing its own letter, which began: Q has ceased all production of the Honey Badger Pistol, and submitted a comprehensive letter to ATF and the Department of Justice stating why we disagree with this classification. Additionally, we have provided recommendations on...
Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, aka “Johnny Rotten,” has confirmed that he is “definitely” voting for President Donald Trump in America’s upcoming presidential election, railing against the establishment politicians who’ve been running the country. Lydon, who is English but became an American citizen in 2013, said he doesn’t care about Trump’s personality but rather a continued shake-up of the political system. “He’s an individual thinker, I’ll give him that for a start,” he said in an interview with BBC’s Newsday. “He’s not the most lovable fellow on God’s earth, but I cannot see the opposition as offering me anything by way of a solution.” “Yes, of course, I’m voting for Trump,” Lydon later added. “It’s bad person or not. I don’t want a politician running this world anymore.” The 64-year-old, who led the Sex Pistols in the late 1970s when the British punk group was in its heydey, previously identified himself...
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) recategorized a popular Q, LLC-manufactured AR-15 pistol with stabilizer brace as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR), which places the gun under the purview of the National Firearms Act (1934). As of now, the ATF’s action is limited to the Q, LLC (Q) manufactured AR-15 pistol called the “Honey Badger,” but an expansion of the policy, which would impact all AR-15 pistols with pistol braces, is anticipated. Case in point, the ATF’s August 3, 2020, letter notes that two other Q pistols–the Sugar Weasel and the Mini Fix–may also fall under NFA purview. Q, LLC sent an October 6, 2020, letter to customers who have previously purchased the pistol, saying: On August 3, 2020, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives issued Q a formal Cease & Desist letter, notifying us that ATF has taken the position that the Q Honey Badger Pistol...

Kalia said troops recovered an assault rifle and two pistols from the slain militants. On Friday, joint teams of army, paramilitary and police forces cordoned off a village in southern Shopian district following a tip that militants were hiding there, leading to an exchange of fire, police said. Four militants were killed and another was arrested during the operation, a police statement said. It said troops seized two automatic rifles and three pistols from the site of the fighting.
