Woods’ vehicle:

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has executed a search warrant on the vehicle Tiger Woods was driving during his Feb. 23 wreck. Per USA Today, the department is looking to obtain information from the totaled vehicle’s “black box” to see whether a crime was committed and led to the crash that landed Woods in the hospital with multiple severe injuries. USA Today also reports that the sheriff’s department won’t be seeking a blood test to see whether Woods was impaired at the time of the crash, citing no probable cause.  “We’re trying to determine if a crime was committed,” sheriff’s deputy John Schloegl told USA Today. “If somebody is involved in a traffic collision, we’ve got to reconstruct the traffic collision, if there was any reckless driving, if somebody was on their cell phone or something like that. We determine if there was a crime. If there was no crime, we...
Police investigating the cause of Tiger Woods' car crash have retrieved the 'black box' from the golf stars' SUV, officials said on Tuesday. Investigators hope that the on-board data recorded will give them insight into the cause of the rollover on February 23 that left Woods in hospital, such as the speed of vehicle car when it crashed, and whether its brakes were engaged. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant to obtain the recorder, but decided not to seek a warrant to obtain a sample of Woods' blood to help determine whether he was under the influence of medication. In order to obtain a warrant for the black box, officers are required to determine there was probable cause that a crime was committed, even in the case of it being a misdemeanour. Speaking on Tuesday, a sheriff's deputy downplayed the warrant as part of their probe,...

It’s a strange thing to get into a vehicle that one of the most famous people in the world just wrecked. Not the actual damaged vehicle, but one just like it. I was at the hospital for a routine visit when news broke that Tiger Woods was in another hospital on the other side of the country with serious injuries after rolling off a California road in a Genesis GV80, the same model that was sitting in the garage waiting to take me home. Based on preliminary evidence, the accident wasn’t due to any fault of the GV80’s, but chalked up to Woods driving carelessly on a tricky road as he was rushing to work. Nevertheless, it put the vehicle in a somewhat different light as I retrieved it from the garage and headed off to continue my evaluation of what had all of a sudden become a celebrity. (Genesis)...
