A Truckee man was rescued Sunday, a week after he had gone missing on what should have been barely a two-hour drive in the Sierra Nevada, the Sierra County sheriff’s office reported. The man had last been seen leaving Grass Valley on Jan. 24, headed back to Truckee after visiting friends. When he failed to show up, family members reported him missing and organized search parties along his likely route, with no success. On Sunday, Jan. 31, the Nevada County sheriff’s office received a 911 call. Although the connection was dropped, they confirmed it was from the missing man and obtained a location: on Henness Pass Road near Alleghany, in Sierra County. The area, around 4,500 feet elevation, had received at least 5 feet of snow in the recent storms. The Nevada County sheriff’s search-and-rescue unit dispatched a sno-cat, and the California Highway Patrol sent up a helicopter. The helicopter...
Adam Schiff said Sunday that Donald Trump should no longer receive intelligence briefing whether before or after his term ends as he cites national security concerns. 'There's no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing, not now, not in the future,' the House Intelligence Committee chairman told CBS' 'Face the Nation' on Sunday morning. 'I don't think he can be trusted with it now and in the future, he certainly can't be trusted,' Schiff continued. 'Indeed, there were, I think, any number of intelligence partners of ours around the world who probably started withholding information from us because they didn't trust the president would safeguard that information and protect their sources and methods. And that makes us less safe.' Although there are only three days left of Trump's presidency, former FBI director James Comey said that former presidents are sometimes given intelligence briefings about the state of...
House Intel Committee chair Adam Schiff said on Face the Nation Sunday President Donald Trump should not get any intel briefings after he leaves office. Margaret Brennan first spoke with Schiff about the Capitol mob, the ongoing investigations, and investigations into whether members of Congress aided rioters. Brennan then brought up a recent op-ed by Susan Gordon, the former principal deputy director of national intelligence, that argued even though every former president continues to receive intel briefings, that should not happen with Trump. In part, Gordon wrote, “I do not make this recommendation casually. It is based on my deep understanding of threats to national security, on decades protecting our people and interests overseas, and my experience deploying technical means to counter our adversaries.” Schiff agreed: “There’s no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing. Not now, not in the future. I don’t think he can...
Editorial: Gaming / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Instagram / News / Discord / Forums Since working on his first game, the former film director, Josef Fares, has focused on developing games in which cooperation is essential in their gameplay. This proposal is a bit peculiar in the industry and the titles of this genre are not very abundant or are not considered a commercial success. Due to this, the big distributors do not usually bet on these projects, but Josef Fares and Hazelight showed that the public is interested in this kind of experiences and the most recent example is that A Way Out sold millions of copies. In an interview with IGN, Josef Fares took the opportunity to talk about the new project that his studio Hazelight and he are working on, It Takes Two, which will follow the style of play of the projects he has...
President Trump must be removed from office. As soon as possible. Either through new emergency articles of impeachment, which would have the additional benefit of barring him ever for running for the presidency again. Or, my preferred option, through the 25th Amendment on the grounds of his obvious mental instability. There can be no other appropriate response to the utterly horrific scenes we all witnessed at Capitol Hill yesterday. And surely, he cannot be allowed to stay in office for another two weeks until Joe Biden's inauguration because who the hell knows what he will do before then? We're now in an unprecedented situation where the President of the United States has been banned from using Twitter and Facebook because he can't be trusted not to incite violence, yet he still has power to start a nuclear war that could end civilisation. This cannot continue. It's too dangerous. Trump's now...
China just landed a spaceship on the moon – the same China that Joe Biden, as recently as May, claimed represents “no competition for us.”    Robert Gates, secretary of Defense under President Barack Obama, has written that Biden has been “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”   Add underestimating China to the list.   LIBERTY VITTERT: BIDEN SHOULD HALT SALES TO CHINA OF US TECH USED TO PERSECUTE AND ENSLAVE UIGHUR MUSLIMS While senator or vice president, Biden’s bad impulses – like opposing the raid that killed Osama bin Laden – had little impact. But, assuming he becomes president, his wrongheaded instincts will put our nation at risk, especially when it comes to dealing with China.    Biden’s inability to rein in an increasingly belligerent China starts with his naïve confidence in the United Nations, which has done exactly nothing to punish Beijing for its military...
Getty Cam Newton The New England Patriots‘ offensive gameplan has been playing things extremely close to the vest all season. The team has rightfully leaned on the running game for the bulk of its success, and it has rarely taken shots down the field. Instead, the Patriots have lived, and more often died with the fate of short and predictable passing attack. This might be an understandable approach if they were making do with a quarterback who was incapable of stretching a defense with longer throws, but that’s not the case. Cam Newton can do more than what he’s being trusted to do, and it appears offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels might simply be using him incorrectly. By Trevor Hunnicutt WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and his aides have spent months gearing up for his transition to the White House, assembling a team that will grow to include several hundred staff members as the Democrat steps into a role he's pursued for decades. These are the key advisers that Biden will rely upon and consider for top posts in his new administration, according to people briefed on Biden's early plans: INNER CIRCLE Biden has long kept a tight inner circle on whom he relies for strategic advice, including his family members and his chiefs of staff during his White House years as Barack Obama's vice president, Ron Klain, Steve Ricchetti and Bruce Reed. Klain, a political tactician who also ran the Obama administration's response to an Ebola outbreak in 2014, is widely seen as a leading choice to be Biden's initial chief of staff....
President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani promised 'much more to come' from Hunter Biden's laptop.  Meanwhile, Democrats have already tossed cold water on the New York Post's story that details contents from a laptop allegedly belonging to Democratic nominee Joe Biden's son, which contains messages about Hunter Biden's Ukrainian business deals and photos of the 50-year-old smoking and doing drugs.  'When evaluating any information provided to anyone by Rudy Giuliani, just remember he’s been parading around with a Russian secret agent for the last year, taking everything he says at face value,' tweeted Sen. Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut.  Rudy Giuliani is promising there is 'much more to come' from a laptop that he believes belonged to Hunter Biden that contained information about the Democratic nominee's son's business dealings and pictures of him doing drugs  Giuliani gave the contents of the laptop over to The New York Post,...
President Trump and Andrew Cuomo have traded barbs after the president criticized him and suggested New York could be last to receive a coronavirus vaccine because the governor wants to conduct its own tests to make sure it was safe. On Thursday, Cuomo said that New York state would conduct its own verification of any federally approved vaccination, citing concerns that the vetting process is overly politicized. But on Friday evening, Trump slammed the governor for his comments while further denigrating Cuomo over New York state's performance on care homes where ar least 6,600 people have died from coronavirus.  'Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York wants to put New York at the END of the Vaccine List in that he doesn't trust the @FDA or Federal Government, even though the Vaccines are being developed by the finest Labs in the World. Wish he trusted us on Nursing Homes!' the president wrote....
CONGRESSWOMAN Ilhan Omar again blasted Donald Trump on Wednesday, saying the president cannot be trusted to safely provide a COVID-19 vaccine - after bragging about voting to impeach him. "If doctors and scientists like Dr. Fauci are taking that vaccine, of course, I will take the vaccine," she said on CNN. "And I know many Americans will." 3Representative Ilhan Omar fired back at Trump after he attacked her for her country of originCredit: Getty - Contributor However, Omar doubled down saying it would only be doctors like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's top infectious disease expert, who would get her and most Americans to opt for the vaccine. "But we also know that we can't trust the president and take his word and take a vaccine that might cause harm to us," she said. "We know that every single thing he does is geared toward winning an election." Omar...
Bill Gates no longer trusts US regulators - and questions whether the Food and Drug Administration's eventual approval of a coronavirus vaccine will mean the shot is safe.  'The FDA lost a lot of credibility,' the billionaire philanthropist told Bloomberg Television, referring to the agency's series of prematurely positive outlook on various COVID-19 treatments, and subsequent retractions.  Confidence in a vaccine from the long-time investor in public health initiatives could help to encourage Americans to get the shot that is likely the world's best hope to combat the pandemic.  But right now, Gates has little confidence that the FDA will sufficiently vet vaccines, and his skepticism is mirrored in the American public.  Meanwhile, Gates's own foundation published a report on Monday finding that the pandemic has wiped out 25 years of progress on global vaccine initiatives in just 25 weeks.  When asked if he still trusts the FDA after its...
A woman whose father died of COVID-19 says that President Trump’s admission that he intentionally downplayed the severity of the coronavirus in the weeks before the pandemic swept the nation is “inexcusable.” Kristin Urquiza, who at last month’s Democratic National Convention spoke out forcefully against the president’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak, questioned Thursday “how many families right now are missing a loved one because of Trump’s failure?” TRUMP DEFENDS CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE AFTER WOODWARD INTERVIEW GOES VIRAL Urquiza’s comments were made during a conference call with reporters hosted by Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign. They come a day after reporter Bob Woodward's new book – which includes audio recordings of the president telling the longtime Washington Post journalist in February that he knew the coronavirus was “deadly” but went to great lengths to downplay the virus in public – went viral. The president defended comments he made earlier this year about the coronavirus in interviews with Woodward, telling Fox News' "Hannity"...
During Monday’s House Oversight Committee hearing on the dramatic slowdowns of the U.S. Postal Service under the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a major donor to Donald Trump who continues to have tight relationships to the Trump campaign, Republicans worked two contradictory claims. The first claim is that DeJoy is a major expert in logistics and that’s why he was appointed as postmaster general — not because he was useful to the Trump campaign’s efforts to sabotage mail-in voting. The second claim is that Democrats are being unreasonable in expecting that DeJoy, this supposed expert on the mechanics of delivering stuff, should make sure the mail arrives on time, as it generally did before he was hired. Republicans had a litany of excuses for why DeJoy cannot be expected to accomplish the baseline goal of getting the mail delivered, even though he was supposedly appointed because of his deep knowledge of such things. GOP members of the committee blamed “anarchists” for...
