This is the shocking moment a small plane smashes into a car after its engine failed and forced it to make an emergency landing on a California highway  Pilot Josh Redsun and his father were headed home to Napa but the plane lost power almost immediately after taking off and Mr Redsun was forced to land in Livermore near the 580 on Isabel Avenue at 5.10 on Tuesday evening.  Footage filmed by a witness shows the plane smashing into the side of a white Lexus sedan with such force that it is shunted backwards and starts to shake.  The Federal Aviation Agency, which is conducting an investigation into the engine failure, said there were no injuries to anyone involved in the crash.  Mr Redsun said that the four-seater plane was able to climb about 500 feet before it started diving down to the road below.  The pilot was quick-thinking and decided...
Lando Norris has had a brilliant F1 career so far, having secured a podium with a mid-field team, and eventually hitting a jackpot by helping McLaren secure their first top-three constructors’ finish in years. Meanwhile, his close friend, Alex Albon, had a rather awful 2020 season. And what was the result? Well, he’s without a drive for the 2021 season, and it looks like he might never return to F1 as a full-time driver. His short-term career turned out to be an example of how cruel Formula 1 could be at times. And Norris acknowledged that. What did Lando Norris say? According to Motorsport, the McLaren driver felt sorry for Albon, as the latter never found a breakthrough since his F1 entry despite driving for a potential championship-winning team. “What happened to him with the decisions of Red Bull, I’m a bit sorry because I know he’s a very good...

More On: evictions Slamming landlords leaves NYC’s housing on brink of disaster Jumaane Williams taps ‘Cancel Rent’ activist for NYC planning commission ‘Completely destitute’: NYC landlord faces eviction as ‘deadbeat’ tenants refuse to pay rent Cuomo, AOC want eviction protections extended to NY small businesses As progressive legislation goes, the state Legislature’s recent extension of the moratorium on evictions in New York is far from the worst. The new law shows some awareness that small property owners face their own economic crisis if tenants cease paying rent. It calls for a pause in foreclosure proceedings for them. And lawmakers clearly recognized that evictions can be crucial in preserving health and safety — by permitting them in the case of disruptive tenants.  Still, the eviction ban can’t go on indefinitely. As the old economic adage goes, there is no free lunch. There are dangerous side effects to depriving landlords of...
The View pummeled White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for her attempt to defend Donald Trump’s coronavirus leadership by deflecting to the failings of the president’s critics. The show kicked off with a focus on McEnany’s latest press briefing in which she looped footage of “Democrat hypocrisy” and poor behavior that goes against Covid safety guidelines. Whoopi Goldberg acknowledged that “you will find Democrats, Independents and Republicans acting kind of stupidly” throughout the pandemic, but she smacked McEnany to comparing that to the “entire government” acting “stupidly.” “All this finger pointing doesn’t change the fact that the man who runs the country knew in January we were heading for a cliff. So this is really on him,” Goldberg continued. “You know, people are dumb. They make mistakes. They do stuff, but an entire government…It’s apples and oranges. Every day, this government and the people who head it — on...
(CNN)If there was any ever doubt, by now it should be clear: This is Donald Trump vs. Democracy.Amid the final flurry of conspiracy theories, which have translated into frivolous lawsuits and desperate political gambits, Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis gave up the game when she cheered the brief but unprecedented partisan deadlock over certifying Wayne County's votes in the state of Michigan, where President-elect Joe Biden won by 148,000 votes. Ellis tweeted: "If the state board follows suit, the Republican state legislator will select the electors. Huge win for @realDonaldTrump." Here's what that means: the Republican-controlled state legislature would try to overrule the popular vote and submit a separate set of Trump electors to select the next president in the electoral college. Opinion: Obamas GSA administrator: Presidential transition is too important to politicizeThe good news is that there are many practical hurdles to achieving such an outcome. The bad news...
BRONZEVILLE — A new fundraising campaign to support renovations to the South Side Community Art Center will also raise awareness about the role of Bronzeville’s venerable Black art institution in Chicago’s creative community. The Raise It Up campaign, which was organized by the Chicago Printers Guild and kicked off Monday, has a goal of $10,000 to support improvements to the art center’s Margaret Burroughs gallery on the main floor. With the funds, the center will update light fixtures, renovate the ceiling and perform other tasks “to keep the center’s charm of 80 years, while at the same time … doing what we can do to maintain, enhance and celebrate the center,” Executive Director Monique Brinkman-Hill said. If the fundraiser exceeds its goal, the funds will be used as needed to support the center’s operation, as the coronavirus pandemic has impacted many of its regular funding sources. “With a 100-year-old building...
Don’t worry, you’ll find something else,’ I reassured my friend. ‘This is the best thing that could have happened, you hated that job.’ My friend opened her mouth to say something and then closed it again. I kept going: ‘At least John still has work, you still have a roof over your head.’ She nodded but there were tears in her eyes as she said she had to go. As soon as we hung up our video call I knew I’d done the worst thing: instead of listening to how scared and sad she was, I had made my friend feel she was not allowed to feel bad about being made redundant from her job of eight years. I had showered her in something that’s recently been dubbed ‘toxic positivity’.
