The PUBG universe is expanding with a new mobile title for iOS and Android called PUBG: New State, which catapults the battle royale ahead in time for a more futuristic take on the massive multiplayer genre. Set in 2051, PUBG: New State takes place years after the current PUBG games (which are set in approximately modern times) on a new map called Troi and promises to bring with it a slew of near-future weapons and vehicles, like drones and deployable combat shields. Based on the early images, it’s a similar vibe to fellow shooter Call of Duty’s semi-futuristic military tech from games like Black Ops 3 and 4. The new game is also set to dive deeper into the lore of the overall PUBG universe, which is apparently a thing that surprisingly exists for a game whose most notable cultural signifier is the use of a cast-iron skillet...
BERKELEY — In the summer of 2019, then 73-year-old Richard Worthy made it a daily habit to go for a walk around town with a musical theme: he would dance and play a silver flute that he liked to take with him. According to a recent federal suit filed last year against Berkeley police, that was all it took for Worthy to get cuffed, threatened with a stun gun, and placed in a mental health hold where doctors promptly found him not a danger to himself or others and released him. Worthy, who is Black, alleges that his race “was the motivating reason” for the officers’ actions. The suit, filed last August, has been in settlement negotiations since last month. A settlement conference hearing was set for Tuesday afternoon, but a joint statement isn’t due until this May, court records show. In a September response to the civil complaint, attorneys...
The US Army is developing its most powerful laser yet that is a million times more powerful than current systems.  Most laser weapons fire a continuous beam until a target melts or catches fire, but the Tactical Ultrashort Pulsed Laser (UPSL) for Army Platforms will emit short, pulse-like bursts. Its being designed to reach a terawatt for a brief 200 femtoseconds, which is one quadrillionth of a second, compared to the 150-kilowatt maximum of current systems. Even for that infinitesimal amount of time, the UPSL could vaporize the surface of a drone. It's also thought such a burst would disrupt nearby electronics systems, making it a functional electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen is finally here, and Guardians can adventure through the world of Destiny to pick up some powerful new gear pieces. Here’s a look at the four Exotics already in Season of the Chosen, and everything we know about the fifth. Ticuu’s Divination Ticuu’s Divination is the new Season Pass weapon in Season of the Chosen. THE US Navy experimented on far-fetched technologies including a "space modification weapon", leaked documents reveal. Files unearthed by The War Zone boasted how the futuristic device could make the Hydrogen bomb look like a "firecracker". 3Plans for a US Navy 'spacetime modification weapon' have leaked online The Navy spent three years and hundreds of thousands of dollars testing the concept between 2017 and 2019 in a bid to keep up with similar programmes in China. Researchers claimed internally that the highly conceptual system could revolutionise power and propulsion systems. The documents, disclosed by The War Zone on Tuesday, detail experiments carried out by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD). The military research branch was trialling technologies that take advantage of the "Pais effect", an experimental idea patented by American aerospace engineer Salvatore Cezar Pais that pushes the boundaries of science. 3The weapon would have reportedly been more...

Epic Games In the near future, it sounds like Epic Games will be adding a weapon mods feature to Fortnite that’ll allow us to customize weapons to our liking. We don’t yet know exactly how it’ll work, but Fortnite leaker HYPEX has been giving us the details as they come and now he has even more to share. While having weapon mods is huge news in itself, it doesn’t look like Epic plans on stopping there as it appears they’ll have vehicle mods too. Of course, we don’t know everything since Epic has remained tight-lipped on how mods will work as a whole, but it’s definitely something to be interested in. Here’s a look at what we know so far about how vehicle mods will work.Vehicle Mods Leak Apparently Epic isn't working on weapons mods/attachments only, there will also be cars attachments such as new tiers that have...
Getty If retired heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield’s next-gen fitness plan from 35 years ago was worthy of its name “Omega Project”, then his son Evan Holyfield’s sports cognition training program should probably be called something like “Project Z”. Because where the elder Holyfield’s training methods were cutting edge stuff back then, the neuro-fitness regimen his son is doing through a company called Reflexion makes all that stuff seem like ancient history. “Not everybody has this opportunity,” Evan Holyfield told Heavy, and he’s right. Almost nobody in the sport of boxing has access to technology like this. The Science of Neuro-fitnessThe eyes are a muscle that can be trained and enhanced. Epic Games With so many battle royale games on the market, it’s no surprise to see that many of them borrow features from each other, and that’s no different for Fortnite. When Apex Legends first launched, you’ll remember that it did so with a respawn system and the ability to ping items, something that Fortnite lacked up until that point. It didn’t take long for Fortnite to add in the Reboot Vans and their own pinging system after Apex took the world by storm, which is why it’s a bit surprising to see that Epic took so long to add a feature like weapon mods. Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone and even PUBG have a mods system that’ll allow you to modify your weapons, and soon it appears that Fortnite will be getting the same thing. How Weapon Mods Work Oh and apparently Saved Weapon Mod Templates too?...
The acting defense secretary Christopher Miller has told a group of reporters that he cannot wait to leave his job. Miller made the comments on Thursday with the entire transcript posted to the Defense Department's website. 'I cannot wait to leave this job, believe me,' Miller said, 'But part of me is like, I would have loved to have gotten involved in the acquisition process and try . . . and you know, talk about wicked problem.' Miller's comments came as he was being asked about flaws in various Pentagon acquisition programs, including the F-35 joint strike fighter and the Littoral Combat Ship. Acting defense secretary Christopher Miller said he can't wait to leave his job in a briefing with journalists  Both programs faced a number of delays and saw the Department overrunning its budgets.  'I wanted to take that one on….F-35s, the case study,' Miller stated, 'Although, I...
Epic Games At the start of Fortnite Season 5, Epic Games made the controversial decision to vault the Pump Shotgun, leaving the Tactical and Charge Shotgun as the main two weapons for players to choose between. Following the v15.20 patch, there are now three main options to choose from in the shotgun pool, with the Lever Action now joining the mix. This gun shoots a bit faster than both the Tac and Charge, but appears to deal less damage than those two. Like the other shotguns, this one will also be found as floor loot and in chests, so you’re bound to come across several of them once you download the update and jump into a match or two. But, the question that remains is if you should even bother with it.How Strong is It? Epic GamesMore shotguns are in the mix. Well, this is a tough...
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man wielding a wooden weapon terrorized Tribeca over the weekend, indiscriminately beating and carjacking people he came across. Police said the suspect sent several victims to the hospital with bloodied heads and cuts. As CBS2’s Christina Fan reported, he’s being charged with a long list of crimes. Police said Bryan Thompson, 43, of Atlantic City, was the man behind the wheel of a stolen Jeep that crashed trying to evade police after he allegedly beat 10 victims in a 25-minute rampage. Officers said Thompson’s spree started at the Canal Street subway station on Saturday afternoon. He’s accused of attacking three people, ranging in age from 18 to 56, who were waiting for a 1 train. Riders who found out Monday were left stunned and worried. “This is very shocking. I’m afraid just to even know something like this is going on. I’m speechless,” said Ontae...
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It was a frightening violent crime spree that the NYPD is still trying to make sense of. Police said a man from Atlantic City armed with a wooden bat-like weapon attacked people and cars before finally being captured in TriBeCa, CBS2’s Hazel Sanchez reported Sunday. Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, police said they arrested 43-year-old Bryan Thompson, after he tried to elude police in a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee. The chase finally came to an end after Thompson ran into a police vehicle and crashed into a center median at West 24th Street and 12th Avenue. FLASHBACK: New Video Shows Suspects In Bronx Baseball Bat Attack Police said Thompson refused to exit the vehicle and officers had to break the driver’s side window and Taser him in order to get him to comply. Prior to his arrest, police said Thompson attacked at least 10 people...
The Giants need help scoring, but who says it has to come from the offense? Former second-round draft pick Dante Pettis made his Giants’ debut last week with 29 snaps at wide receiver, but he wasn’t used on special teams. It’s a curious decision given Pettis’ background as the NCAA career leader with nine punt return touchdowns, Dion Lewis’ fumbling issues as a kickoff returner and the double-duty heavy workload carried by safety/punter returner Jabrill Peppers. Released by the San Francisco 49ers and claimed by the Giants off waivers on Nov. 4, Pettis admitted it was a challenge to learn a new offense on the fly. The adjustment was amplified because of a bout with COVID-19. “It almost felt like I was learning a new language for the first couple days,” Pettis said. “I had no idea what certain words meant. But everybody was very helpful with trying to get...
Epic Games With so many battle royale games on the market, it’s hard for them to stand apart from each other, but Fortnite is in a unique position with its building mechanics. Even though it’s been out for three years now, there’s still plenty that Fortnite can do to spice up the game and there’s a new leak that suggests they’ll be doing just that. There’s one thing that Fortnite is lacking that the other games like PUBG, Apex Legends, and Warzone all have and it’s weapon attachments. When Fortnite first launched, it looked like the idea behind it was to make a simpler, more accessible BR that was free of all that, but with how advanced the building has become, it looks like it’s become the exact opposite. If that was the case, then it appears there’s nothing holding Epic back from adding weapon attachments now.Fortnite Adding...
Epic Games Something that pretty much every Fortnite player knows by now is Epic Games is always working on something behind the scenes. Whether it’s new map locations, weapons, items, skin or even a new season, we can always know something is just over the horizon. According to a new leak, it’s looking like Epic is messing around with a minigun grenade launcher hybrid that would definitely end up being one of the most powerful weapons in the game. While we don’t know the damage stats of this weapon, a look at video of it in action definitely raises some eyebrows and leads us to wonder how exactly a weapon like this could ever be balanced. By Michelle Nichols NEW YORK (Reuters) - A United Nations analysis of photos of four anti-tank guided missiles in Libya found that one "had characteristics consistent with the Iranian-produced Dehlavieh" missile, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reported to the Security Council. However, he said in his biannual report - submitted to the council late Monday - that the U.N. secretariat was "unable to ascertain if this anti-tank guided missile had been transferred to Libya" in violation of Security Council sanctions on Iran. The 15-member council banned weapons exports by Iran in 2007. Under a 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and key global powers, which is enshrined in a Security Council resolution, the arms restrictions were lifted in October this year. Israel accused Iran of violating sanctions and submitted photos of the anti-tank guided missiles in Libya to Guterres in May. Just weeks later, Iran wrote to Guterres and "categorically rejected" the...
Epic Games There are a lot of new weapons in Fortnite Season 5, but a lot of them are locked away from the playerbase as expensive Exotic weapons. These guns cost a big chunk of Gold Bars, and if you’re primarily an Arena player, then you’re probably never going to run into any as the Gold doesn’t carry over match to match like it does in pubs. If you do want to test out these guns for yourself, you’ll likely have to complete a bunch of bounties because these guns cost upwards of 1,000 Gold Bars, which is definitely not something you’re going to be getting in a single match. However, if you are looking to spend some of that Gold you have, here’s where you can do it to get your Exotic weapons.Exotic Weapon Locations ALL 5 Exotic Weapons locations. Getty Kyle Shanahan believes the 49ers offense can take advantage of the fast field in Arizona. Playing your home games in a different state is less than ideal, but there is one aspect of the move that may give the San Francisco 49ers an advantage. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan believes the State Farm Stadium in Arizona has a fast field that should work in favor of the team’s offensive weapons such as Deebo Samuel and Raheem Mostert. “I like the stadium. Seems nice, clean,” Shanahan said, per The Mercury News. ” Glad there’s not Cardinals fans in there when we’re the home team. The field’s fast. Have always like that. And it’s nice weather. It’s as good of a situation we can have. I’m pumped they’ve made it so convenient for us.” Samuel is one of the most versatile offensive players in the NFL and his...

Epic Games The release of a new Fortnite update always gives us a good glimpse at what the future of the game looks like through a variety of leaks. Whether it’s upcoming map changes, challenges, or even weapons and items, we always get an idea of what’s coming to Fortnite. Following the v14.50 update that concluded the Fortnitemares event, we learned there are two weapons currently being worked on behind the scenes that could be arriving in the game at any point now. We’re still in the early stages as all we have so far are a bunch of stats, and we know how often Epic likes to experiment with new content only to never release it. With that said, let’s take a look at what we know so far about these potential weapons.2 Weapons Have Leaked New Weapons added in v14.50 Unfinished prototype weapons, Lazing Device uses...
Hanh Nguyen October 31, 2020 3:00PM (UTC) The following contains spoilers from "The Queen's Gambit," including the ending. If you haven't watched yet, check out Salon's review. Who knew that chess flirting was a thing? One of the hallmarks of Netflix's surprisingly sexy limited series "The Queen's Gambit" are the chemistry-laden matches that chess prodigy Beth Harmon ("Emma" star Anya Taylor-Joy) plays against a series of men with whom she ends up in the bedroom – with varying results. One such interaction ties in with the rather elastic theme of identity on the show.  The charming player-turned-reporter Townes (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) had completely captured a young Beth's heart in her first tournament, and years later when the two reunite in Vegas, he's effusive in his compliments and even invites her to his hotel room for an interview. It's clear Beth is hoping for some romantic overture, and it appears...

Volatile elements could come together at Denver's Civic Center Park on the afternoon of Saturday, October 10. A so-called "Patriot Muster" and the BLM-Antifa Soup Drive are scheduled to get under way within thirty minutes of each other at the location. Materials for the Patriot Muster, the subject of several segments on KNUS radio over the past week, note that the event is intended to be peaceful, but there are many reasons for concern. The groups clashed during a pro-police rally in July at the same location, and Denver Police pepper-sprayed some of the demonstrators. Moreover, Patriot Muster organizer John "Tig" Tiegen, whose Facebook profile photo shows him wearing a wide smile and a freedom-themed T-shirt and holding an automatic weapon, is part of an organization called the United American Defense Force, whose website includes lines like this: "The enemies are promising to come to your neighborhood." Tiegen did not respond to...
(CNN)The fact that Tuesday night's debate in Cleveland was more of a crash than a clash will no doubt dominate the media coverage and people's memory of the event. No matter how much we would like to wipe the image of that disgraceful spectacle from our consciousness, the indelible stain of a President of the United States behaving like a juvenile delinquent initiating a food fight will be tough to erase. But what may get overlooked amid the pandemonium that erupted at the first of three showdowns between former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump was the stark contrast in the two candidates' body language. Bill McGowanJuliana SilvaFrom the opening bell, Biden strode to the lectern with a sense of purpose. Ironically, Trump was the one who seemed sleepy and slow, lumbering onto the stage with all the enthusiasm and excitement of a root canal patient entering...
Epic Games The start of Fortnite Season 4 saw a return of some of the more wacky items from the past, most notably the Boogie Bomb. For a while, it seemed like Epic Games was moving away from these types of items, but now it looks like they have shifted gears and started to embrace some of the more crazy weapons and items in the game. A new leak has shown that there’s a new heavy weapon being worked on that a leaker is calling a blend between a minigun and a grenade launcher, and that sounds extremely intriguing. Let’s take a look at what we know so far about it.Leaked Heavy Weapon A new Heavy Weapon is in the works. It may be a cross between a Grenade Launcher and a Minigun. Instead of being gauntlets, however, it appears this upcoming weapon will be a gun, and there will be two of them. No, it won’t be two separate weapons, but you’ll actually be dual wielding them. Earlier this year, Bungie revealed new plans to help sustain Destiny 2 as a loot game for years to come. They call the initiative “sunsetting,” and it will effectively remove current weapons from the game to make way for new ones. Despite it being controversial among fans, I’ve supported sunsetting since the start. But as Bungie has started to implement the system in-game — and once they revealed a reskinned version of an old weapon coming in Beyond Light — I’m starting to worry, along with many others. How sunsetting works Some weapons like Gnawing Hunger, seen in the middle, came back this season.Image: Bungie Destiny 2’s loot operates on an infusion system. Players can basically feed new guns to their old guns to make their old guns more powerful. With sunsetting, Bungie is placing a cap on the infusion of older...

Late-night host Trevor Noah faulted Kenosha police for treating a vigilante who allegedly shot and killed two people better than Jacob Blake — questioning why “some people get shot seven times in the back while other people are treated like human beings and reasoned with and taken into custody with no bullets in their bodies.” “After the George Floyd protests, which swept not only the U.S. but many countries around the world, there was definitely a sense that this could be the moment of systemic change,” Noah said. “But as we’ve been reminded of yet again, there is still a long way to go.” Noah questioned how Blake’s shooting escalated so quickly, wondering what happened to the methods used before resulting in violence, such as warning shots or tackling. “That’s all we have? I mean think about it, even when wild animals are loose on the streets, they have tranquilizers, they have...
Samuel Corum/Getty Images The New York Times has new reporting on one suggested that was briefly floated — but apparently not seriously considered — back in 2018 about stepping up border security. The Times report says that in one meeting, weeks before the midterms, officials suggested using a “heat ray” to stop migrants at the border: Developed by the military as a crowd dispersal tool two decades ago, the Active Denial System had been largely abandoned amid doubts over its effectiveness and morality. Two former officials who attended the afternoon meeting at the Homeland Security Department on Oct. 22, 2018, said the suggestion that the device be installed at the border shocked attendees, even if it would have satisfied the president. It is not known whether Mr. Trump knew of the microwave suggestion, but it showed the lengths that some officials were willing to go to satisfy the president. Then-DHS Sec....

Now, they have a reliever who could be absolutely huge for them in getting their rebuild going and returning to relevancy in the next few years. His name is Josh Staumont and he’s looking every bit the part of a shutdown reliever. The Royals took Staumont in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft and he made his debut last...
Epic Games Since Epic Games doesn’t release patch notes with every new Fortnite update anymore, it’s up to the leakers and community to figure out what has changed each time. On June 30, Epic Games introduced the v13.20 patch to the game, skipping v13.10 for whatever reason, and with it came plenty of new content for players to look forward to. On top of some bug fixes, it also brought on the start of the Summer Splash event which brings back old LTMs and introduces some new skins into the mix. The Charge Shotgun, which was introduced at the start of Season 3, received some tweaks with this update as well, but Epic Games didn’t explicitly mention them in any way. Luckily, we have the Fortnite leakers to rely on.What Changed With the Charge Shotgun? OH FORGOT TO POST THIS! – The Mythic burst was buffed (changes in...
American Special Operations used a massive hellfire missile nicknamed the “Flying Ginsu” to kill an al-Qaida leader earlier this month. Khaled al-Aruri died June 14 in a drone strike, American and al-Qaida leaders confirmed according to the New York Times.
