This purpose of this year was progress. Seeing that the plan was working. Proving this program, after two decades of inconsistency and wayward leadership, was finally on the right path. It started poorly for St. John’s and Mike Anderson, with a 1-5 record in the Big East. Then came a month of terrific basketball, six straight wins and seven victories in eight games. A commanding upset of league powerhouse Villanova. NCAA Tournament talk arose. Buzz began to circulate. Local players Posh Alexander and Julian Champagnie were emerging as two of the best players in the conference. But just as soon as hopes heightened, the Johnnies took massive steps backward. They blew a 15-point lead at Butler. They played their worst game of the Anderson era as an 11-point favorite in a loss to DePaul, the perennial bottom-feeder in the conference, and they failed to rebound in an ugly 23-point setback...
The Stanford basketball program finally received some good news that could positively impact every athletic department budget in the Pac-12. Remember all the way back in December, when the Cardinal was banished from campus by cockamamie Santa Clara County health restrictions and forced to play a series of home games in Santa Cruz? Well, the NCAA last week announced those five games — all of them Stanford victories — would count as neutral-court results. It was the right thing to do: There was nothing homelike about the environment at Kaiser Permanente Arena, which is 40 miles from campus. That subtle reclassification added instant polish to Stanford’s resume and could be the fuel the bubble-sitting Cardinal needs to sneak into March Madness. Here’s how: The NCAA selection committee uses quadrants to categorize results in its NET ranking system. Quadrant 1 wins, the most valuable, are defined as: — Home victories over...
Sony Playstation 5 : One more week Epic Games Store has renewed its promotion of free games for PC by which any user with an account on this platform can obtain titles at zero cost every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time). We already knew what the free video games were going to be this week, but today we have also learned what will be the one that can be obtained without paying next week. This week’s free Epic Games Store games are Rage 2 and Absolute Drift, which are now available on both the official store page and the desktop launcher for PC. These two titles can be obtained completely free of charge until next Thursday, February 25 at 5:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time). That is when they are no longer available and are replaced by a new free game, which this time will be Sunless Sea....
Rage 2 is making its way to the Epic Games Store next week, and it can be all yours at no cost. Avalanche Studios and id Software’s first-person shooter will join Epic’s free games lineup on Thursday, February 18th, alongside Absolute Drift: Zen Edition. Steam has a decent discount on Rage 2 as part of its Lunar New Year Sale — it’s currently down from $60 to $18 — but it 217;s perhaps worth holding off for a few days to get the base game for zilch. You’ll be able to buy add-ons or the deluxe edition too. Rage 2 had mixed reviews, but many critics praised the combat, so if you’re looking for a new, relatively mindless shooter to check out, it might fit the bill. Epic has offered a free game or two each week since it opened its storefront in late 2018. While the games...
Sony Playstation 5 : Epic Games Store has been updated to offer its users this week’s free game, a title that anyone with an account on the platform can obtain until next Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time), when it is replaced by two other free PC video games that have also been announced. The free game from Epic Games Store this week is Halcyon 6, a title that can now be downloaded for free for PC although it usually has a price of 14.99 in this digital store. It’s about a strategy video game developed by Massive Damage Inc. which puts us in command of a starbase in ruins, abandoned by a mysterious precursor race, which we will have to improve to try to prevent a mysterious alien force from reaching Earth and invading civilization. RAGE 2 and Absolute Drift free next week on the...
The Colorado Avalanche become the latest addition to the NHL’s COVID protocol list, and will have their next week of games postponed until a later date. In what has become a worrying trend for the NHL as of late, the Colorado Avalanche will have their games for the next week postponed to a later date due to an abundance of players entering COVID-19 protocol. Over the next week, Colorado had four games on the schedule: a back-to-back against the St. Louis Blues over the weekend, and two games against the Arizona Coyotes. All games are postponed to a later date, and the league is in the process of reviewing and revising the Avalanche regular season schedule. The NHL says that “it is expected that a decision on next week’s games will be made in the coming days.” The earliest the Avalanche could be back in action will Feb. 14 against the...
PREM clubs have been left up in the air over whether they will be forced to release players for next month’s World Cup qualifiers. Last week’s new UK border rules mean that South American and Portuguese players will be forced to spend 10 days in strict hotel quarantine when they return to British soil. 1Bruno Fernandes is among the stars who could be affected by going away on international dutyCredit: Getty Images - Getty SunSport revealed how it could deprive Liverpool of Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino for three games at the start of April. And it would bring similar issues for Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles and Ederson, Ruben Dias and Gabriel Jesus at Manchester City. And Fifa President Gianni Infantino declined to signal the world body’s stance on the issue when asked during an appearance at the World Health Organisation. Infantino said: “It is...
The San Jose Sharks’ games with the Vegas Golden Knights next week might not be played as scheduled. The NHL has postponed tonight’s Golden Knights’ game with the St. Louis Blues after a player and another member of Vegas’ coaching staff entered the league’s COVID-19 protocols. That could mean a positive coronavirus test, potential exposure or something different. The league also announced that the Vegas’ training facilities have been closed, effective immediately, and will remain shuttered until further notice. One Golden Knights coach tested positive before the team played the Blues on Tuesday night. As a result, Vegas played the game without its entire coaching staff, which includes head coach Pete DeBoer and assistant Steve Spott, who were both with the Sharks from 2015 to 2019. Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon acted as head coach and was assisted by the team’s minor league coaching staff. The...
EDINSON Cavani will miss Manchester United’s next THREE games after accepting the ban for his “negrito” Instagram comment. And the Uruguayan ace also copped a whopping £100,000 fine as he admitted breaching FA social media rules. 1Edinson Cavani is banned for Manchester United's next three gamesCredit: Getty Images - Getty FA beaks investigated the comment made to a fan after his late match-winning double at Southampton on November 29. On December 17, he was officially charged with an “aggravated breach” because his comment was deemed to have “included reference, whether express or implied, to colour and/or race and/or ethnic origin”.  The striker, who swiftly deleted his comments after United were alerted to them, was backed by the club in his insistence that there was no intended racial reference and simply a regular South American phrase. That cut no ice after the FA - with the agreement of the PFA and...
The exact origin of the quote remains in doubt, and even Vince Lombardi claimed he never said “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” The man whose name adorns the Super Bowl trophy later told author James Michener what he really said was “Winning isn’t everything. The will to win is the only thing,” although as the original quote gained steam, Lombardi was fine with the condensed version and even repeated it on occasion. Which brings us to the Raiders, another late-season fade, and being on the outside looking in at the playoffs as they’ve done for every year except one since 2002. The Raiders were 6-3, fell to 7-7 and need a prayer that won’t be answered to sneak in to a wild card playoff spot that wasn’t available a year ago. It’s another in a long line of failures and a letdown to the fan...
The Colts moved one step closer to the playoffs with a wild win over Houston. The Texans certainly gave the Colts all they could handle but Indianapolis hung on for a wild 27-20 win when Keke Coutee was stripped by Darius Leonard on his way to the end zone for a potentially game-tying touchdown. The win helped the Colts improve to 10-4 and move one step closer to clinching a playoff spot in the AFC. The AFC South race itself remains a tight one as the Titans beat the Detroit Lions 46-25 to tie the Colts atop the division at 10-4. Tennessee maintains the tiebreaker over the Colts for the division due to a better division record (4-1 to 3-2 for the Colts) with both teams having divisional games coming in Week 17 when the Texans host the Titans while Indianapolis draws the hapless Jaguars. If Houston beats Tennessee...
By JOSH DUBOW, AP Pro Football Writer The San Francisco 49ers will finish out the regular season practicing and playing home games in Arizona after a ban on contact sorts in their home county was extended into January. The Niners relocated to Arizona at the beginning of December after Santa Clara County announced a three-week ban on contact sports games and practices to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. That ban was initially supposed to be lifted on Dec. 21 but now has been extended until at least Jan. 8, meaning San Francisco’s home game Jan. 3 against Seattle will be played in Arizona. The 49ers were expecting to be forced to stay in Arizona for the rest of the season and made plans for many families of players, coaches and staff to join them next week for Christmas. “The day we were made to leave, we pretty much...

The individual games will also be available on that day as well. The anthology originally launched in the West in August 2019 for PlayStation 4. Also, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will arrive on Xbox Game Pass on March 25, 2021. It originally launched in the west in April 2018. Microsoft announced the new additions to Game Pass’s collection during The Game Awards 2020 on Thursday night. EA Play’s library will also become available for Xbox Game Pass for...
Big things were expected of Pac-12 basketball this season with so many top players returning and so many elite recruits arriving. OK, maybe not big things, but certainly medium things and maybe even big medium things. This was to be the season the conference finally vaulted back onto the top tier. That it finally looked more like the ACC and the Big Ten than the Mountain West and the Atlantic 10. That it finally found the sweet spot, where a strong top and stout middle would produce the desired quantity and quality of NCAA Tournament seeds. So far, the non-conference results don’t suggest a postseason bonanza is forthcoming. Because of COVID disruptions, the Pac-12 has experienced precious few chances to claim narrative-changing victories. When given the opportunity, however, the conference has fallen flat. Two relevant metrics aren’t pretty: Record vs. Power Six opponents (ACC, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten,...
Not even a crazy last-second loss by the league’s only winless team, nor a shocking defeat by the league’s lone unbeaten squad could drastically alter The Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings this time around. However, impressive road wins by the Giants and the Washington Football Team — at Seattle and Pittsburgh, respectively — did move the NFC East co-leaders into the Top 20 for the first time this season. The Steelers maintained their No. 2 ranking as one of two single-loss teams in the league 1. Kansas City Chiefs, 11-1 (Last week: 1) Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champions clinched a playoff berth despite scoring only one touchdown — not counting the would-be score Tyreek Hill didn’t realize he’d caught — Sunday night against Denver. Travis Kelce is the first tight end in NFL history with five straight 1,000-yard seasons. Next: Sunday at Miami 2. Pittsburgh Steelers, 11-1...

Reaction to Pac-12 developments on the field and off … 1. Pac-12 five, COVID zero You wouldn’t know there’s a pandemic based on team availability in Week Five: All five games went off as scheduled on Saturday, and the sixth is on track for Sunday. If the USC-Washington State game is played — and we anticipate it will be, based on the testing results thus far — then this will mark the first weekend of the 2020 season that the Pac-12 doesn’t experience a cancellation. Of course, the previous four weeks have been filled with havoc, with multiple cancellations in each. Yes, good fortune is part of the current equation. You can follow protocols to the letter and still have one of 90-something players exposed during a quick trip to the store. You can test relentlessly and still be the victim of an erroneous result that disrupts the entire week....
As Purdue coach Jeff Brohm watched video of Nebraska, he immediately identified a potential pitfall. Quarterbacks Adrian Martinez and Luke McCaffrey look a lot like the Rutgers quarterback tandem. So in hopes of avoiding a repeat of last week’s debacle, Brohm decided to spend part of this week finding a solution for his defense. “I need to do the best job I can of being involved in all aspects of our game,” he said. “We want to make sure that we put a plan together that has the resources available to stop the run, to get penetration, to put pressure on the quarterback and to challenge the offense and not let them sit back there and do what they want.” A week ago, the Scarlet Knights pretty much did whatever they wanted in the second half. Johnny Langan had 21 carries for 95 yards, completed all three of his...
DACA recipients and allies rally at the Supreme Court last year. The federal judge who over the weekend ruled that the changes further decimating the popular Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are invalid because acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf is unlawfully in his job gave the Trump administration a deserved earful during ongoing proceedings in the case this week. It wasn’t the contempt charges deserved for ignoring court rulings regarding the program, but maybe we’re getting there. CNN reports Judge Nicholas Garaufis read out loud a government statement that had named him an “activist judge” for ruling against the administration—“You're entitled to your own opinions, you're not entitled to your own facts,” he commented—and slammed intentional efforts to kill the program before the administration ends in January. “[W]hat we're doing is impacting the lives of many, many people, who are buoyed by the Supreme Court decision in June and have been undermined by the conduct of...
The Jets have become the “get right” opponent for teams this season. If your team is struggling, just play the Jets and you will be cured. The Chargers are the latest opponent hoping that seeing the Jets on the schedule is what fixes whatever ails them. The Chargers have lost three games in a row, a few in brutal fashion. They must be thrilled to see the 0-9 Jets coming. The Patriots were riding a four-game losing streak, their longest since 2002, when they came to MetLife Stadium last week. It looked like the streak might hit five for a while, but they took over the fourth quarter and found a way to win. This week, they beat the Ravens, showing they have been revived. The Bills limped into MetLife Stadium last month losers of two games in a row. They kicked six field goals to beat the Jets...
In the middle of October, the Pac12 unveiled its game cancellation policy and revised division tiebreaker process. Because the former has been deployed five times in two weeks, we should make sure fans are clear on the latter: How many games are required for a team to be eligible for the division title? Here’s the policy: “In order for teams to be considered in a divisional tiebreak scenario, teams must play no less than one fewer conference game than the average number of conference games played by all conference teams (rounded up/down at .50). “For example, if the average number of conference games played in the 2020 season is 5.25 (value of 5 when rounded down), a team would be eligible to win their Division if that team played 4 conference games.”  Let’s use Utah as the example. The Utes have canceled twice but are optimistic about playing USC...
An exciting pair of young gun quarterbacks have moved their rising teams further up the charts in The Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings. Miami and Arizona — led respectively by Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray — firmly have established themselves as playoff contenders, adding to their résumés with impressive wins on Sunday. Meanwhile, a couple of longtime Top-5 staples — Baltimore and Seattle — continued their recent slides, with the Seahawks falling to a season-worst No. 11 ranking. 1. Kansas City Chiefs, 8-1 (Last week: 1) Patrick Mahomes (25-to-1 TD/INT ratio) and the defending Super Bowl champs come out of their bye week looking to avenge their lone loss from Week 5. Andy Reid had two weeks to prepare for this week’s prime-time trip to Sin City. A win would give K.C. a three-game cushion in the AFC West. Next: Sunday night at Las Vegas 2. Pittsburgh Steelers, 9-0 (2)...
Multiple statement wins on Sunday shook up much of the Top 10 in The Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings. Rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the rising Miami Dolphins move into that lofty company for the first time this season, while the Tennessee Titans also jump back into the high-end mix by ending their two-game losing streak against Chicago. The New Orleans Saints also are now the top-ranked team in the NFC, by virtue of their blowout win Sunday night over Tampa Bay. 1. Kansas City Chiefs, 8-1 (Last week: 1) While a couple of early front-runners for league MVP have slipped in recent weeks, 2018 winner Patrick Mahomes continues to dominate alongside weapons Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Ho hum, Mahomes now has 25 touchdown passes and one interception through nine games. Next: Bye 2. Pittsburgh Steelers, 8-0 (2) Mike Tomlin’s team had far more...
SANTA CLARA — Offensive catalyst Deebo Samuel won’t be available for the 49ers’ game Sunday at Seattle, and his hamstring injury likely will keep him out of next week’s NFC Championship Game rematch with Green Bay. Coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Monday, and he did not down play Samuel’s impact, which has sparked their two-game win streak. “Deebo is a huge part of our offense, a huge part of our team,” Shanahan said. “When you have a threat of someone who can hurt you blocking, catching or running, that is always an issue for a defense.” Samuel got hurt late in Sunday’s 33-6 rout at New England, the 49ers’ second straight win after a two-game losing streak. “We’ll miss him when he’s out, that’s for sure,” Shanahan said of Samuel, who tallied 11 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown on short passes the past two...
We are now down to three unbeaten teams and one winless one (sorry, Jets fans) through six weeks of the 2020 season. Two of the perfect AFC squads will be facing each other this week — Pittsburgh at Tennessee, rescheduled from Oct. 2 — so even more movement should be coming near the top of The Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings. The Chicago Bears also finally have forced their way into the Top 10 with their fifth win in their first six games. 1. Seattle Seahawks, 5-0 (Last week: 1) Pete Carroll’s team doesn’t relinquish the top spot after its Week 6 bye. Seattle will return with consecutive key games against divisional opponents, which should go a long way to determine whether MVP candidate Russell Wilson and the Seahawks will run away with the NFC West. Next: Sunday at Arizona 2. Kansas City Chiefs, 5-1 (3) The defending Super Bowl...
The defending Super Bowl champions will not go wire-to-wire in the Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings. The Kansas City Chiefs’ surprising home loss to the Raiders on Sunday caused our first major shake-up at the top of the list, with Russell Wilson and the 5-0 Seattle Seahawks grabbing the No. 1 position. We are down to four unbeaten teams across the league after Tennessee came back from all of its COVID-19 issues to knock off previously perfect Buffalo in the NFL’s first Tuesday night game since 2010. The Cleveland Browns also have vaulted into the Top 10 with their fourth straight win. 1. Seattle Seahawks, 5-0 (Last week: 2) Russell Wilson’s last-second TD pass to DK Metcalf on Sunday night against Minnesota propelled Seattle to its first 5-0 start in team history. Wilson’s MVP-caliber play (19 TDs, 3 INTs) has compensated for Pete Carroll’s shaky defense, which has surrendered an...

But today’s postponement of this week’s Broncos-Patriots game raises the possibility that next week’s Broncos-Dolphins game will ultimately be canceled. © Getty Images The NFL has not yet announced when Broncos-Patriots will be played, but multiple reports say it will move to next week, when the Patriots were scheduled to be on their bye and the Broncos were scheduled to play the Dolphins. If that happens, what becomes of the Broncos-Dolphins game? Looking ahead at the schedule, it’s hard to find a good way to reschedule that game. Moving it to the Dolphins’ bye in Week 11 would then require moving...

GENEVA (AP) — Soccer’s game of catch-up on matches missed during the coronavirus pandemic sees European Championship qualifying playoffs headline an expanded stretch of national-team action starting Wednesday, and fans can attend in some countries. The Euro 2020 playoffs begin Thursday, more than six months later than scheduled, with 16 teams competing for the last four places in a 24-nation lineup. The finals tournament is now scheduled to begin in June 2021, delayed a year due to the pandemic. Even if all the playoff teams — who also need to play two Nations League games beginning this weekend — are below the top level, the potential stories are striking. Kosovo, the newest addition to world soccer in 2016, aims for its first appearance at a major tournament. So does Erling Haaland, Norway’s 20-year-old star forward who was not born when his nation last appeared on the international stage at Euro...
Epic Games For several weeks now, there has been a very annoying bug in Fortnite’s Team Rumble mode that would make organizing your inventory nearly impossible. Anybody who has played Fortnite for a long time knows how important it is to get your assault rifle, shotgun, etc. into the right spot, so having that not work could make all the difference between life and death. What made this issue even worse is the fact that Team Rumble has respawns, which would mean your inventory shuffles around after every death, essentially making the mode very unenjoyable to play. Luckily, Epic Games has confirmed they will be fixing this issue in the next game update.Fixes Are On The Way Epic GamesThis fix is finally happening. According to the Fortnite Trello board, this Team Rumble bug is fixed with the next update. Until that arrives, the developers do offer a...
The clash between the last two league MVPs — and two of the top three teams in The Post’s weekly NFL Power Rankings — turned out to be a one-sided affirmation of the defending Super Bowl champions. Patrick Mahomes and the top-ranked Kansas City Chiefs outclassed Lamar Jackson and the No. 3 Baltimore Ravens on the road Monday night, further cementing their early place atop the list for a third straight week. Our Top 10 also added two new teams this week, unbeaten Tennessee and the Tampa Bay Bradys, who have won two in a row following a Week 1 defeat. 1. Kansas City Chiefs, 3-0 (Last week: 1) Mahomes zipped the ball around for 385 passing yards — with TD tosses to four different receivers — to become the fastest player in NFL history to 10,000 passing yards (34 games). The underrated KC defense also held Jackson under 100...
No Man’s Sky has had several small but important updates this year, and another one is on the way next week. This latest update will be called Origins, and according to developer Hello Games, it’s “the beginning of something new.” While the developer revealed very little about this new update outside of its name and that it will be released next week, there are a few clues. For one thing, Hello Games briefly compares the Origins update to the game’s earlier Foundation and Beyond updates, which helped reshape the game and adds huge new features. There’s no way to know if Origins will really be that big, but it certainly seems important. Among the measures being discussed are border controls, Covid-19 venue countermeasures, dealing with infected people, pre-Games training camps, non-essential transport and entry isolation periods. The Olympic Torch Relay will also be affected by the cost-cutting approach. Plans will involve reducing the number of people behind the scenes. But the sports competition schedule will not be trimmed back. Thomas Bach, the IOC President, had said in June that “it would...
