    A Long Island man and woman were arrested for allegedly tailgating a police cruiser and honking its horn and when stopped found with a loaded weapon and guns,  The man and woman, both from Baldwin, were arrested around 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, in Lynbrook, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations Officers observed a Mercedes Benz Sedan driving behind them, traveling northbound on Broadway, in Hewlett.  The vehicle was tailgating the officer's vehicle and repeatedly used its horn.     FREMONT — A 24-year-old woman already wanted on a federal firearms warrant was arrested with a loaded gun in her possession, police said Tuesday. Erika Hewitt of Fremont was arrested Saturday and the loaded gun recovered after patrol officers spotted a vehicle she was associated with. Hewitt was wanted on a warrant obtained by the federal  Bureau of  Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after her arrest Sept. 21 by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence. At the time of that arrest she was in possession of a loaded gun despite being  previously convicted in 2019 of being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, authorities said. She was booked at Santa Rita Jail after the Sept. 21 arrest but was released several hours later on a citation due to zero bail policies.     A Fairfield County man with a long history with the Stamford Police Department, including being arrested for his involvement in the death of two people during a crash, has been arrested again. Jerry Diaz, 20, of Stamford, was arrested by Stamford Police around 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, in what started as a call for a harassment complaint at 27 High Ridge Road, said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth. According to Booth, the suspect in the complaint was Diaz, who is facing manslaughter charges in the death of two people who were in a vehicle he was driving when it crashed in August 2019.     OXNARD (CBSLA) – A woman accused of selling heroin and methamphetamine to residents of Oxnard was arrested and booked into jail Tuesday when her home was raided by law enforcement. Detectives said they issued a search warrant for the home of Tyryn Champagne, 26, and found drugs, cash, a loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol on a table in the residence, and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in the living room closet. Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit and Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations completed the narcotics investigation. Champagne was charged with possession for sale of methamphetamine, possession for sale of Xanax, and several firearms violations, all felonies. She was booked into Ventura County Jail with a bail request of $350,000.

(KABC) -- A Pasadena man is facing federal charges alleging he used stolen identities to fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits and then purchased a Maserati luxury SUV with that money, officials announced Friday.Robert Sloan Mateer, 30, was named in a five-count indictment charging him with possession of at least 15 or more unauthorized access devices with intent to defraud, aggravated identity theft, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of ammunition.According to an affidavit, Pasadena police officers arrested Mateer following a traffic stop on Oct. 1 when they found 17 unemployment benefits debit cards, several other credit and debit cards, $197,711 in cash, more than 85 grams of methamphetamine, and a loaded firearm with no serial number inside the Maserati.If convicted of all charges, Mateer would face between 17 years and life...
    BOSTON (CBS) – A Dorchester man who allegedly gathered materials used to create explosives was arrested on Thursday night at an MBTA station stop for illegally carrying a firearm and ammunition. 47-year-old Pepo Herd El, who also goes by Pepo Wamchawi Herd (El), was arrested at the Ruggles MBTA station stop on Thanksgiving night, said U.S. District Attorney Andrew Lelling on Friday. Police say that on Thursday, El went on a bus from his house in Dorchester to the Ruggles MBTA stop. While at the stop, police searched him. During the search, police say he had in his possession a loaded pistol, three loaded magazines, a bulletproof vest, and a knife.     SARATOGA – A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing an AK-47 following a vehicle pursuit in the South Bay earlier this week, authorities said. The chase began about 9:10 p.m. Monday when deputies tried to stop a driver for a red-light violation near Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85 in Saratoga, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday. The sheriff’s office said the driver lost control of his Infiniti G35 while exiting Winchester Boulevard and crashed into an embankment. He then left the scene on foot.     Authorities have taken a suspect into custody for the killing of a father on his 34th birthday, officials stated. Umajestice McKensie, 33, was taken into custody on Friday by police in Brooklyn, New York. McKensie was detained for the murder of Marvin Carroway, 34, on October 28th. Approxiamtely two hours before the attack, Carroway posted on Facebook Live, showing himself preparing for his birthday celebration, according to the New York Daily News. “My b-day is tomorrow.     WHEATLAND (CBS13) – A previously convicted felon was arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento in Wheatland after being found in possession of a stolen car out of Marysville and two guns, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department said on Thursday. Anthony Lira, 42, of Bangor, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on $50,000 bail and faces charges of auto theft, being a felon in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, possession of ammunition as a prohibited person, and possession of a firearm without a serial number, authorities said. Lira allegedly was seen driving the stolen vehicle sometime between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. out of the Hard Rock parking lot on Forty Mile Road.     A Maple Avenue drug dealer has been sentenced to 6 years in federal prison on drug and firearm charges. Francisco “Gordo” Leon, 41, of Hartford was sentenced on Wednesday, Aug. 19, to 72 months in prison and three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts, said. Police began investigating in June 2019 when they got a tip 777 Maple Ave. was a drug house. After making a controlled purchase of narcotics, police obtained a court-authorized search of Leon’s apartment. In Leon’s apartment on July 9, 2019, police found 9,700 bags of heroin and a loaded handgun, the Attorney’s Office said. Leon was arrested on this date. A subsequent search of Leon’s U-Haul storage space on Capitol Avenue, police found 9 kilograms of heroin, two loaded handguns, and assorted ammunition.     On a tip that there was an ex-con driving around Springfield in a rental car with a loaded gun, Springfield Police hit the streets to make an arrest Thursday, Aug. 13. After making a traffic stop, Brandon Murray, 33, of Dwight Street Extension, was arrested Thursday at around 6:10 p.m. at an East Columbus Avenue gas station, police said. Upon investigation, police allegedly found a loaded firearm in Murray’s pocket. Murray is being charged with carrying a loaded firearm with a license, carrying a firearm without an FID card (subsequent offense), firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense), police said.
