    A retired New York Police Department officer has been arrested and charged in attacking a Metropolitan Police Department officer in D.C. during the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol. Thomas Webster, 54, was voluntarily taken into custody in New York on Monday, the Justice Department said in a statement Tuesday, the same day Webster was ordered detained after an initial court hearing. The former Marine is facing five charges that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon and obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder.     VENTURA (CBSLA) — The Ventura County woman accused of attacking a black teenager after falsely accusing him of stealing her phone has been charged. Miya Ponsetto was charged with two counts of attempted assault Saturday after being extradited to New York City. The 22-year-old also faces other charges, including endangering the welfare of a child and grand larceny. Ponsetto was caught on video tackling a 14-year-old black teen at a hotel in NYC last month. Ponsetto claimed he stole her phone, but she had left it in an Uber car. In an exclusive interview with CBS News’ Gayle King, Ponsetto denies she committed a crime, or that she was a racist.     A 24-year-old man wanted out of Jersey City was taken into custody after punching two people in the parking lot of Costco in Bayonne, authorities said. Kane M. Young approached a 23-year-old man and 30-year-old woman walking through the Goldsborough Drive store's parking lot around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14, Bayonne Police Capt. Eric Amato said. "Due to the ongoing issues the male victim has been having with Young, the female positioned herself in between the two,"the police report said.     ODENTON, Md. (WJZ) — A 21-year-old Severn woman was charged after she allegedly assaulted a man with a knife after a traffic accident in Odenton Sunday evening. Anne Arundel County Police said officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1200 block of Chadwell Court in Odenton around 6:50 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man and a woman suffering from a minor sharp-force injuries. During an investigation, officers learned the man and woman were involved in a crash in the area of Annapolis Road and Charter Oaks Boulevard Boulevard.     TAUNTON (CBS) – A Brockton man is accused of attacking a gay man in Taunton. Michael Cates of Brockton is accused of attacking a gay man in Taunton. (WBZ-TV) Michael Cates, 34, was ordered held without bail after he allegedly yelled a homosexual slur and punched a man in the face when the victim was outside his home with his husband. Police say Cates then got back in his car and drove off. A Pride flag was flying outside the home at the time. The victim lost two teeth in the attack.     A Georgia man is under arrest after severely beating and choking a man he found inside his 14-year-old daughter's bedroom, authorities said. Ismael Casillas, 41, found Keywontrezes Humphries, 20, inside his daughter's room in their Coweta County home on July Fourth and erupted in anger, investigators told WAGA-TV in Atlanta. He began to choke and beat Humphries, knocking out some of his teeth in the process, authorities said. He then asked his wife for a gun and followed Humphries after he jumped out of a window in an effort to escape, according to the news outlet. In the front yard, Casillas allegedly resumed the beating and fired several shots through the neighborhood as Humphries fled on foot. Philip Sarner and Emily Orbay, who do not have primary addresses but are known to reside primarily in Nassau County, were taken into custody by U.S. marshals following the incident on Friday, June 26.
