WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for helping to run a large-scale marijuana growing operation that used his family's plumbing business as a front, federal prosecutors say. In addition to his prison term, Thomas Laverty, 40, of Clinton, was sentenced Tuesday to eight years of probation and ordered to pay $3,100 in restitution, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Boston. He also later pleaded guilty to an additional charge of theft of government funds for accepting food stamp benefits even while earning about $5,000 week through pot sales. By Rodolfo León 0 COMMENTS 02/28/2021 8:30 pm Like all other major video game franchises, Super Mario is being adapted into a movie by the studio Illumination. Unfortunately, Charles Martinet, the original voice of Mario in games, it seems that he will not return for this future project as Nintendo he has not been contacted recently. In the own words of Martinet: “Well, the movie sounds like something great, something very funny and if I am invited to participate in it, I will do it with great joy and happiness. It must be amazing, you know, everything Illumination touches makes it fun and so does Nintendo. “ There is also the possibility that the Big N nor the production company have made a decision regarding the voice casting. Additionally, let us remember that Hollywood has a bad habit of replacing video game actors with more well-known celebrities, as...

When a winter storm devastated Texas earlier this month, the crisis hit home for Andrew Mitchell. Mitchell lives in New Jersey, but as a plumber, he saw how much work needed to be done when pipes froze and burst in homes across the Lone Star State. So, he and his family decided to help. Mitchell's wife, Kisha Pinnock, has a sister who lives in Houston. Pinnock told CBS News that after talking to her sister, she realized how destructive the storm was. "That's when we really learned from first hand just how really bad it was," Pinnock said. "That's when she told us what was happening with her coworkers, her neighbors, her friends." Millions across the state were left without power and water. Many people would be more than happy to save the money required to have a plumber come out to the house, but perhaps the most significant reason for DIY plumbing jobs is the self-empowerment it provides. Lots of common plumbing issues—leaky taps, replacing showerheads, etc.—can be accomplished by willing and persistent novices. While it’s absolutely true that most of us should leave ripping into walls or pulling up floorboards to the professionals, not all projects involve such drastic measures. A clogged drain hardly demands dismantling the house to resolve. In other words, when the problems are simple to solve, why not try yourself before forking over a boatload of cash for five minutes of work? For those ready for a little more self-reliance and basic home repair capabilities, here are some DIY plumbing jobs we unlicensed plumbers can attempt without making the house explode (or, more appropriately, flood). 1....

Espinoza is getting the skills and certification needed to do that. “There’s a lot of...

Playing cards is a little different than fixing pipes, a South Jersey plumber-turned-millionaire found in Atlantic City. Small bets made the difference this week when the Atlantic County resident and HVAC contractor hit a $1.3 million royal flush mega jackpot.  James, whose last name was withheld for privacy reasons, left the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino as an instant millionaire, casino officials said. The local plumber was making progressive $5 bets in an ultimate Texas Hold'em card game when he won the mega jackpot, reports said. “It is surreal to have hit a $1.3 million jackpot, especially because playing cards is a little different than laying pipe,” James said, according to Atlantic City Weekly. “We plan to take care of our family, put money away for our kids and my wife deserves a nice trip.”
