Like other modern cars and trucks, the Genesis GV80 that Woods was driving when he crashed was equipped with an electronic data recorder and other computer hardware meant to serve as a digital witness of sorts — filled with information investigators can use to piece together the seconds before and during the accident. The devices are part of a broader array of safety technology built into many newer vehicles. Vehicles in the Genesis line — Hyundai’s luxury brand — for example, also feature artificial intelligence software that keeps a watchful eye, sending alerts if it detects the driver is distracted or closes his or her eyes while driving. It was not surprising, then, that as part of their...

During a segment where Fox News dipped out of ongoing live coverage of the accident, the panelists weighed in on the news about Woods. But after Dana Perino noted the public’s longtime fascination with someone who is an icon not just within golf or the sports world, but in American culture in general, Gutfeld offered a decidedly contrarian take on the coverage. “Really, though?” Gutfeld said in rebuttal. “Everybody wants to hear about his for an hour? I don’t know.” “I know our job is to overstate incidents like this…” Gutfeld continued, just as what sounded like Perino whispering into a hot mic saying: “Guys…” “If we don’t overstate it, people might change the channel,” he added, before noting that tens of thousands of Americans are injured in car accidents every year. “I...

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (AP) — An Amur tiger that underwent hip-replacement surgery at a zoo outside Chicago has managed to dislodge the orthopedic implant, veterinarians at Brookfield Zoo said Thursday. Malena recovered well from Wednesday’s surgery, but as she began moving about overnight the custom-made implant in a femur was dislodged. ROME — The once-potent coronavirus “has gone from being a tiger to a pussy cat,” according to Dr. Matteo Bassetti, director of Infectious Diseases at the San Martino Hospital in Genoa. “This infection that was devastating three months ago now resembles a form of the flu,” writes Prof. Bassetti, who expressed concern Sunday that retaining policies of isolation for non-contagious carriers of the virus is counterproductive and “embarrassing.” Asymptomatic cases of the virus that are emerging thanks to extensive testing should be treated differently than the once-rabid, symptomatic cases of months ago, insists Bassetti, who is also president of the Italian Society of Anti-infection Therapy (SITA). “In Lombardy, 50 percent of swabs are now ‘weakly positive,’ with a viral load so low that the carriers are not contagious,” Bassetti notes, a phenomenon that is mirrored in the Veneto region of Italy. Coronavirus — Is the coronavirus evolving towards less aggressive behavior? The response of Matteo Bassetti, head of infectious diseases at the San Martino hospital in Genoa, Italy, thinks yes. “The clinical impression I have is that the virus is changing in severity,” he told the Sunday Telegraph. “In March and early April the patterns were completely different. People came to the emergency room with great difficulty controlling the disease and they needed oxygen and ventilation, some developed pneumonia (…) At the time it was like a rabid tiger (the virus) but now it is like a wild cat, “he adds. Bassetti believes that social distancing measures have had an effect on the evolution of the virus. “I think it has mutated because our immune system reacts to it and now we are exposed to a lower viral load due to confinement, masks and social distancing “, ensures. “But we...

PEBBLE BEACH LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON, shortly after he had turned the 100th U.S. Open into his own personal beach party, Tiger Woods was asked if he would allow himself a moment of reflection at some point during Sunday’s final round. The 18th fairway, perhaps. Assuming he had a commanding lead, of course. Woods gave the question some thought. “Ask me tomorrow,” he said with a broad smile. There was no need to ask. Woods, as it turned out, arrived at the 18th hole Sunday at 12-under par (tying a U.S. Open record). He led the tournament by 15 shots (setting a U.S. Open record), on his way to a four-round total of 272 (again tying a U.S. Open record). He hit a perfect drive, then a perfect approach shot. FORT WORTH, Texas — As the Charles Schwab Challenge second round was being played at Colonial Country Club on Friday, rumors of whether Tiger Woods would play next week at the RBC Heritage were swirling. There was a report earlier in the week that Woods’ yacht, “Privacy,’’ had departed Jupiter Beach, Fla., where Woods lives, up the Atlantic Coast into Georgia. That fueled speculation that it might be headed to Hilton Head, S.C., where Woods would play the RBC. That’s not happening. Woods, who had until 30 minutes after the conclusion of Friday’s Charles Schwab second round to commit to the RBC, was not heard from. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Someone forged the will of the missing husband of Carole Baskin, a woman prominently featured in Netflix’s “Tiger King” documentary series, a Florida sheriff said. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister told 10 Tampa Bay on Tuesday that two experts had confirmed the will of Jack “Don” Lewis is a forgery. Lewis disappeared in 1997 and was declared dead in 2002. The millionaire’s will left most of his estate, including a private Tampa zoo that would eventually become Big Cat Rescue animal sanctuary, to Baskin, cutting out his children from a previous marriage. Criminal charges aren’t expected because the statute of limitations has expired, Chronister said. “The will had already been executed at that point,” Chronister said. “But, it certainly cast another shadow of suspicion, by all means.” Lewis’s disappearance remains an open case. In March, Chronister announced that the sheriff’s office was seeking new leads...

The story of Carole Baskin and her missing husband Don Lewis has added a new chapter. A sheriff in Florida says law enforcement officers believe the signature appearing on Lewis' will was forged. But, we knew that…we knew that before,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister told WTSP. Chronister had also previously told the outlet that he believed Lewis, who disappeared in 1997 and was formally declared dead in 2002, had been murdered. The hit show documents the vicious feud between Baskin, an animal activist and founder of Big Cat Rescue, and a zoo owner known as Joe Exotic — and his murder-for-hire plot to kill the big cat activist. But the show inadvertently raised theories that Baskin may have known more than initially revealed about her late husband’s disappearance. In May, Lewis’ friend Joseph Fritz told Fox News that the signature on the will, which awarded Baskin all...
