    CINCINNATI (AP) – A man falsely reported a 10-month-old was in his car when it was stolen from a gas station to get a faster response, police said. The man called police around 10 p.m. Thursday to say the car was snatched with the baby inside, police said Police mobilized numerous resources, including a helicopter, in an attempt to find the vehicle. But about 45 minutes into the search, police said the man changed his story and said the child was not in the vehicle. Police say a Dacono police officer had arrested Michael Zamarron late Wednesday night in Longmont. He was placed in a patrol car and somehow escaped from his handcuffs while he was being taken to jail.     A disabled Marine suffered a fractured nose, sustained bruises to his face and body, and needed stitches after he was brutally pummeled by two men who reacted angrily when he told them they needed to wear a mask. Daniel Troublefield, 43, of Ocean Shores, Washington, was at a local grocery store on Sunday night when he noticed two other shoppers maskless inside the building. The child was quickly recovered and returned to her parents. Sadly, however, her birthday presents were in the car and were taken. Two police officers then decided to help out. They went to the store and bought the girl new dolls and a new tablet. They were also invited to her birthday party. The crime took place last week in the southern part of the downtown Colorado Springs area at 1021 South Nevada Avenue.     A Salt Lake City government agency worker, 59, has been accused of embezzling at least $95,000 of public funds which she spent on car payments, eHarmony dating site, Domino's pizza and to pay for her son's utility bills.  Tracey Leigh Schmidtke, who was office manager for Stansbury Service Agency in Tooele County, Utah, allegedly set up a PayPal account using the agency's name and credit card and transferred $33,700 from it to her personal bank account over the last three months.   Schmidtke also allegedly used the PayPal account to go on a $40,000 spending spree buying up pizza and clothes from retailers including Amazon, Domino's, Stitch Fix, Twitch, Urban Outfitters and spending on dating app eHarmony within the same timeframe.  The now-fired agency worker is also accused of using her company credit card to buy $21,184.24 worth of goods in the five months between May 29 and November 3.  The...

A bulletproof car. A remote-controlled machine gun. A seemingly self-destructing vehicle. According to Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency, the assassination played out something like this: Fakhrizadeh was traveling with his wife in a bulletproof car in the city of Absard, east of Tehran.     COLUMBIA, MD. (WJZ) — A grand jury has indicted a man from Sykesville for negligent manslaughter in a March collision that killed a man in Columbia. John Anthony Bryant, Jr., 26, was also indicted for vehicular homicide as a result of negligent driving while impaired by drugs and related traffic charges. He was arrested on November 17 and released on $20,000 bond. Howard County Police said at around 8:54 a.m. on March 13, Bryant was driving down Route 32 approaching Route 108 when his car collided with a 2002 Toyota Camry, driven by 51-year-old Jonathon Bos of Dayton. The collision caused Bos’ car to leave the road and overturn. He was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead. Bryant was not injured.     MODESTO (CBS13) — Officers say an inattentive driver went airborne while crashing off of Highway 99 over the weekend – and it was all caught on video. The incident happened Saturday afternoon near Kansas Avenue. California Highway Patrol says the driver apparently wasn’t paying attention and soon came speeding off of the northbound side of the freeway.
