The ‘Spider’ Serbian Novak Djokovic lifted an incredible ninth and third consecutive Australian Open title last Sunday. With that, he also equaled Spain’s Rafael Nadal in a special Grand Slam record. At 33, the Serbian ace defeated the 25-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the finals, and not even for a moment in the match did he take his eye off the ultimate prize. Because of his insatiable hunger for Majors, Djokovic is an 18-time Grand Slam champion now. This places him only two Grand Slam titles behind the record 20 titles of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. However, winning a major tournament after turning 30 is not an easy feat to achieve. In fact, Novak Djokovic has won a record-equalling six major titles after turning 30. Bruce Arians’ Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered Sunday’s Super Bowl LV as underdogs. Sure, they had arguably the greatest quarterback of all time on their roster. But they were going up against defending champions Kansas City Chiefs led by NFL golden boy, Patrick Mahomes. Prior to tonight, Mahomes had just one loss in the post-season. That came at the hands of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots back in January 2019. He was brilliant against the Buffalo Bills a couple of weeks ago despite playing through an apparent toe injury and concussion struggles. But unfortunately, he could not do much to trouble the Bucs defense on Sunday night. A major reason behind the Chiefs’ poor display (apart from their miserable defense) was the performance of the home team. Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett, in particular, took his game to a whole new level as Mahomes suffered his first Super Bowl loss....

by Christian Josi  Whether the president is Biden or Trump moving forward, now more than ever the adage that personnel equals policy is spot-on when it comes to appointing Cabinet members and senior administration officials. In the days ahead, the person who serves as the next secretary of defense, regardless of administration, will determine policy that will impact the Pentagon — and indeed the world — for years. The president will handle the meta defense issues, but the secretary of defense will handle issues that will dramatically impact the above. What sort of person might Biden choose, assuming his administration comes to be? Look no further than Joe Biden’s pick to be the next secretary of state as an example of someone who will show how we will address global stability going forward. Biden has reportedly tagged Antony Blinken, a former deputy secretary of state and...
Duolingo Co-founders Severin Hacker (L) and Luis von Ahn (R)Duolingo During the coronavirus crisis, Duolingo has seen a huge spike in new users. In fact, it's become the world's most-downloaded language learning app, amassing more than 500 million downloads to date. What many don't know is that the world's most popular education app began as a computer science project for co-founders Severin Hacker and Luis von Ahn, teaching people foreign languages while trying to simultaneously translate the entire internet. Von Ahn was one of the developers behind the invention of CAPTCHA and ReCAPTCHA, which are used to distinguish humans from machines. But von Ahn says that what he really wanted to do was make education more accessible. "We've always been a very mission-driven company," he told CNBC at Wednesday's Disruptor 50 Summit. "A lot of people talk about education as something that brings equality to social classes, but I always thought of...

(CNN)Lewis Hamilton has become accustomed to making history and, at rain-soaked Turkish Grand Prix, the Englishman put his name in the record books once again as he equaled Michael Schumacher's record of seven world titles. To win Formula One's drivers' championship at Istanbul Park, the Mercedes driver needed to finish eight points ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas and did so with ease in often treacherous conditions, securing a fourth successive title by winning the race after starting sixth. Last month Hamilton, 35, surpassed Schumacher's all-time record of 91 Grand Prix wins to become the sport's most successful racer and had long since broken the German's career pole positions record. Should he remain in the sport, Hamilton will be widely expected to add to his tally of world titles. But, whatever he achieves in the years ahead, his place in F1's pantheon is assured.More to follow.

by Patsy Writesman  The future of our nation hangs in the balance and the direction of our healthcare system is one of the main differences at stake in the 2020 Presidential election this week. In the final Presidential debate, the distinctions between President Trump’s vision vs. former Vice President Biden’s vision for our nation could not be clearer. This truly is America vs. Socialism. To understand that difference watch President Trump and former Vice President Biden’s responses on how they view healthcare and the proper role of the federal government. President Trump and Republicans in Congress already eliminated the individual mandate and continue to move away from Obamacare and instead implement free market reforms that put individual Americans back in control of their healthcare, as it should be in a free society. Joe Biden’s own words in the debate were, “What I’m going to do...
by Julie Strauss Levin  Imagine a country where rolling blackouts are a common occurrence, where gasoline-powered cars are outlawed, and all new car sales must be electric by a date certain.  Imagine a country where borders are open, sanctuary cities and towns are everywhere, where people here illegally are celebrated with lots of free things like healthcare and housing, and wage-earners pay for it all.  Imagine a country where the radical Green New Deal is thrust upon us (out goes natural gas, oil and coal; in comes renewables; goodbye to your warm/cool home) and a nationwide absence of forestry management causes out-of-control fires that threaten homes and air quality.   Imagine a country that dictates cultural norms, imposes a radical sexual education curriculum starting in kindergarten, where abstinence-only and religious doctrine education are prohibited, and parents may opt out on a limited basis only.  ...

ExxonMobil is planning to increase carbon-dioxide emissions by 17 percent by 2025, according to internal documents obtained by Bloomberg News,. The amount is equal to extra 23 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, or the entire output of Greece - but it only accounts for emissions from Exxon's oil and gas production. The added emissions do not include carbon dioxide from the millions of gas-powered vehicles it fuels, which would quintuple that output to 100 million tons of additional carbon dioxide. Exxon's 'growth plans will continue to include meaningful emission mitigation efforts,' the company said, mostly via carbon capture initiatives.  Leaked documents indicate ExxonMobil has been planning to increase greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent by the year 2025.  That's equal to extra 23 million tons of carbon dioxide, or the entire output of Greece Those efforts are already factored into the 17 percent increase, Bloomberg reports.  Unlike its competitors, Exxon...

(Bloomberg) – Argentina is keeping its promise to treat local and foreign bondholders in the same way as it restructures its debt. The government introduced a bill late on Thursday that would give holders of dollar-denominated, dollar-linked bonds issued under national law the same restructuring conditions that are offered to bondholders abroad. The favorable terms might come as a surprise to investors who had avoided domestic securities, which are generally traded at a discount, believing that New York law provided better protection in the event of default. “The offer is obvious,” wrote Juan Manuel Pazos, chief economist at TPCG in Buenos Aires, in a research note addressed to clients. Bondholders not participating in the swap will likely see an extension in the maturities of their securities in the coming years, an unattractive prospect, Pazos said. Argentina’s local law bonds are still trading at a discount on the country’s foreign paper....

Laura Ingraham claimed Tuesday Joe Biden's election as president would only serve to further divide America and "embolden" radical movements. The host made the case that Biden could not not fulfill all the promises he is making, the same promises former President Barack Obama made to unite the country. "He [Biden] couldn't lead a retirement home sing-along, let alone the largest military superpower on Earth," the "Ingraham Angle" host said. "A unifying force, he is not ... His campaign has tacitly thrown in with the Marxist [Black Lives Matter] and Antifa forces. They're taking radical, violent action to do what Obama pledged he would do through policy making in 2008, remake America."
