After Janna Ireland photographed her first home for what would become a longterm project documenting the architecture of Paul R. Williams, she got a surprise. As it turned out, the midcentury modern in View Park with details influenced by Chinese architecture wasn’t actually designed by Williams. “It was designed by someone working in his office for people who were friends of Williams,” she explains by phone from her home in Sherman Oaks. Even so, the photos she shot there were significant. “In a lot of ways, it set the tone for the rest of the project.” “Regarding Paul R. Williams: A Photographer’s View,” published by Angel City Press, isn’t a typical review of an architect’s work. Instead, it’s Ireland’s impression...

Twenty years ago, Rupert Everett — now aged 61 — was a hot movie star, after landing leading roles opposite Madonna and Julia Roberts.  But one day Hollywood simply stopped calling, he reveals in the first extract from his caustic new memoir — and his life changed dramatically.... U.S. Attorney General William Barr had a lot to say when he spoke at Hillsdale College in Michigan on Wednesday, September 16, and he was highly critical of some of his own federal prosecutors in the U.S. Department of Justice — even comparing them to headhunters. Tensions between Barr and some U.S. attorneys have been evident in 2020, especially with the criminal case of veteran GOP operative and Trump ally Roger Stone. And in Michigan, Barr wasn’t shy about attacking others in the DOJ, describing their activities as “headhunting” and slamming them as a “permanent bureaucracy.” Barr, one of President Donald’s unwavering loyalists in Washington, D.C., told the crowd, “The notion that line prosecutors should make the final decisions at...
