The Telegraph Indian police arrest Muslim man under ‘love jihad’ law for allegedly attempting to convert Hindu woman to Islam A Muslim man has been arrested under a controversial anti-Muslim “love jihad” law in India after a Hindu father accused him of harassing his daughter to convert to Islam and marry him. The man was arrested on Thursday from his village in Uttar Pradesh state, under the new legislation approved five days earlier. In his complaint the woman’s father claimed that three years ago the man had ‘harassed’ his teenage daughter, with whom he went to high school, pressuring to convert to Islam by offering her ‘allurements’ in order to marry him. He claims the man had threatened to kidnap his daughter if she refused. Police said the father, who strongly objected to his daughters association with a Muslim man, had similarly accused the man at the time of kidnapping...

There’s a mere 18-month age gap between this proud mom and her baby – and thanks to the wonders of science, the record-breaking infant is technically 27 years old. Molly Everette Gibson was born from an embryo that was frozen in October 1992 – only 18 months after her mother, Tina, now 29, was born in April 1991. “It’s hard to wrap your head around it,” Tina told The Post from her home in Knoxville, Tennessee. “But, as far as we’re concerned, Molly is our little miracle.” According to researchers at the University of Tennessee Preston Medical Library, the girl enters the history books as the longest-frozen embryo known to result in a live birth. Remarkably, Molly’s October 26 arrival broke the previous record held by her sister, Emma Wren, who spent 24 years on ice before her delivery in November 2017. The embryos were frozen together and are...
Age is just a number … of British Vogue covers, that is. Kate Moss fronts the fashion magazine’s January 2021 issue, almost 28 years after her British Vogue debut. To celebrate the milestone, the 46-year-old supermodel showcased her age-defying beauty in a green Christian Dior silk chiffon maxi dress for one of two covers, both photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. In a sexy shot for the second cover, Moss bared her toned abs in a black Versace crop top and cutout skirt that nodded to the exposed thong trend. When Moss first posed for British Vogue’s March 1993 issue at the age of 19, “she was just this cocky kid from Croydon,” photographer Corrine Day told the publication.Kate Moss in British Vogue’s January 2021 issue.Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott/British Vogue“She wasn’t like a model … but I knew she was going to be famous.” Since then, Moss...

ON THIS DAY IN 1863, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported, “In conformity with the conjoined request of President Lincoln and our own authorities, yesterday was observed for thanksgiving and prayer. Its observance was very general, all places of business being closed, the issuing of newspapers being suspended and the places of worship in all sections of the town being open for service. A more beautiful day was rarely known, and the general tone of gratitude harmonizing gracefully with the beauties of the outer world was heighted to the utmost by the cheering news sent from Grant at Lookout mountain and conveyed by successive Eagle extras to the thousands of expectant hearts in Brooklyn.” *** ON THIS DAY IN 1938, the Eagle reported, “A few weeks ago when Orson Welles put on his radio version of the ‘War of the Worlds,’ the nation was swept into widespread panic as thousands of...
Most of you know this already, but you should ignore the small downward dip in the US data. It’s just an artificial reporting gap due to the Thanksgiving weekend. It will return to normal next week. Here’s the coronavirus death toll through November 27. The raw data from Johns Hopkins is here.
    1. President Trump said Thursday he will “certainly” leave the White House if the Electoral College, as expected, casts its votes for President-elect Joe Biden on Dec. 14, formalizing his victory. Taking questions from reporters for the first time since the election after addressing U.S. troops stationed around the world on Thanksgiving, Trump was asked if he would depart on his own accord. “Certainly I will, and you know that,” he said. The Washington Post notes it was the first explicit commitment Trump has made about vacating the White House, although his advisers have maintained he would for some time. That said, Trump remains determined to expose widespread voter fraud in swing states, despite there being no evidence. “It’s going to be a very hard thing to concede,” he said. 1. Black Friday is taking a different shape this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Several retailers like Saks and Macy’s that closed during the spring have since reduced their inventories, which has led them to scale back on the traditional discounts associated with the post-Thanksgiving shopping event. Health and safety measures will also be in place at many stores. Best Buy, for instance, is employing contactless self-checkout and doubled the number of parking spots available for its pick-up service. When all is said and done, though, sales are expected to be made. The National Retail Federation expects November and December sales, excluding autos, gasoline, and restaurants, to rise somewhere between 3.6 and 5.2 percent. Last year, sales jumped 4 percent, and the average year-over-year increase the past five years is 3.5 percent. Online sales are expected to shoot up from 20 percent to 30 percent. The new season of Bigg Boss is finally turning out to be a very entertaining ride with Jasmin Bhasin and Rubina Dilaik’s friendship going for a toss. Audiences were delighted to see Jaan Kumar Sanu leave the house and while Rahul Vaidya is being a prominent name inside the house, we doubt if he’ll emerge as the ultimate winner. Abhinav Shukla’s been receiving multiple suggestions about how he should let his wife play her own game. But will he take this advice seriously? We don’t know but we sure know everything that happened in tonight’s episode. To understand about the same in detail, keep reading below. Jasmin v/s Rubina Jasmin and Rubina’s ongoing war over thin parathas continues in the house where the former asks her to speak on her face and not behind her back. Jasmin then reiterates saying Rubina shouldn’t ruin her good image on national television....
Our cats are both uninterested in people food. This is normally a good thing, but they take it to such extremes that I can’t even get them to take a sniff of a turkey for a Thanksgiving photo. This is the closest I got, and in reality Hopper is just walking around the turkey, which is in her way. She literally has no interest in it. That’s bad for catblogging, but pretty handy the rest of the time.

College Football betting picks against the spread November 26-27 We are down to one Turkey Day game, which is customary, since the Colorado State and Air Force game got the COVID axe. It was supposed to be 11 games on Friday, but that’s down to nine with SDSU-Fresno and UAB-Southern Miss getting called off. That leaves a total of ten games before Friday this week. I had a solid week last week, and my third straight week with my head above water. It was also the fourth straight with positive points. Let’s build on that! (15)Oregon(-13.5) at Oregon State(3): This is too many. Not only is this a rivalry (it will always be the Civil War to me), but Jermar Jefferson may be the best overall player on the field. Little brother keeps it close and I wouldn’t be shocked if the won outright. Next: College football DFS picks November...

The Friday slate features a strong eight game slate for the early part of the day. It was supposed to be nine, but we know at least one game is getting the axe every week at this point. The one of the chopping block Friday is Southern Miss and UAB. Let’s get to what...

Journalist María Elvira Salazar will have a second chance to fight for the 27th District seat in Congress, after winning the Republican primary on Tuesday. Salazar obtained 79 percent of the votes, 11 percent from Raymond Molina and 10 percent from Juan Fiol. The well-known Cuban-American journalist will face Democrat Donna Shalala in November, who defeated her in 2018 to occupy the seat that Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen held since 1989. In the November 2018 elections, Shalala gained a comfortable 6 percentage point lead over Salazar, in what was one of the key races for Democrats to regain control of the House of Representatives.
