According to Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the NFL has fined two members of the Pittsburgh Steelers for personal foul penalties called against them during last weekend’s game against the Denver Broncos. By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — This year’s virtual airport auction is over. The Allegheny County Airport Authority auctioned off abandoned vehicles from the Pittsburgh International Airport, as well as used authority vehicles and equipment on Thursday. The highest bids were for a $34,000 2016 Cadillac Escalade, which belonged to former Pittsburgh Steeler Artie Burns, and a $26,000 2018 Chevy Camaro. The former Steelers cornerback and current Chicago Bear tore his ACL in the offseason. The Steelers’ 2016 first-round pick signed a one-year contract with the Bears this offseason after spending the first four years of his career in Pittsburgh.
(CBS Local)- Now into Week 3 of the NFL season, there was plenty of scrambling this week after several big name stars went down with injuries. New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley was lost to a torn ACL, his season is over. Fellow Top 3 fantasy pick, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, suffered a high ankle sprain that is likely to keep him out several weeks. So, if you had one of those players, how do you stay afloat? You can of course pick up their backups now expected to take the workload in Dion Lewis/Devonta Freeman in New York or Mike Davis in Carolina. Or, the guys from Fantasy Football Today, Jamey Eisenberg and Heath Cummings have...

The Steelers held their home opener last Sunday in an empty stadium when they played host to the Denver Broncos, coming away with a 26-21 victory. The Steelers host the HoustonTexans this upcoming Sunday and that game will be held without fans in attendance as well. The team is hopeful, however, that a limited amount of fans will be able to attend the game when the Philadelphia Eagles and Steelers square off on October 11 at Heinz Field. In...

In early September the Pittsburgh Steelers cut wide receiver Ryan Switzer, this despite his assertion that he was well on his way to becoming the next Julian Edelman, a boast that was mocked on social media. As it turns it, he became expendable after the Steelers signed WR Ray-Ray McCloud and it became obvious that McCloud was a much better kick returner. PITTSBURGH (AP) — The pressure came from everywhere. Up the middle. Off the edge. On stunts. On good old-fashioned one-on-one domination. Still, Denver quarterback Jeff Driskel thought he’d figured things out late on Sunday afternoon, leading the Broncos down to the Pittsburgh 15 with less than two minutes to go. The door for a stunning upset on the road had swung wide open. It slammed shut in less than 3 seconds, or the time it took Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds to rush in untouched to get Pittsburgh’s seventh and final sack on Sunday. Edmunds’ second career sack preserved a 2-0 start and offered another wrinkle in a seemingly endless string of exotic packages conjured up by defensive coordinator Keith Butler....

According to the latest list of league transactions released by NFL Draft Diamonds, the Bears have poached defensive tackle Daniel McCullers off the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad. He will provide depth at nose tackle, particularly with Eddie Goldman choosing to opt out, and his replacement, John Jenkins, currently dealing with a thumb issue. The Bears will be getting a big body on the line in McCullers, who is 6’7″ and 352 pounds. He was drafted by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he spent his first six seasons in Pittsburgh....
Tyson Alualu is dominating this season at age 33. The Pittsburgh Steelers are building a team that is more reminiscent of the teams who have brought six championships to this franchise, as Benny Snell and James Conner have revitalized the running game at the same time Devin Bush and Minkah Fitzpatrick are leading a turnaround on defense. A complete afterthought coming into the season, defensive tackle Tyson Alualu has emerged as a legitimate star throughout the first two weeks of the season. Through the first two weeks of the season, Alualu, who has nine tackles and a sack through two games, is leading all interior defensive linemen in pressure rate so far this season. It started when the team announced that Pro Bowl wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been lost for the season with a torn ACL suffered against the Steelers. Then the NFL...
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Judging by the tone of Ben Roethlisberger’s voice, it was hard to tell if the Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0 or 0-2. No matter how the questions were framed following a 26-21 victory over Denver on Sunday that gave the Steelers their best start since 2017, the club’s longtime quarterback kept turning each answer into a referendum of sorts on his play. PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Bar and restaurant owners on the North Shore hope the black and gold help bring in the green this weekend. Despite fans not being allowed to attend the Steelers’ game Sunday at Heinz Field against the Denver Broncos, bars and restaurants still have plans to attract loyal fans. WATCH: Interview With Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Chris Hoke But just because fans aren’t invited inside the stadium doesn’t mean their voices won’t be heard. “I don’t know if it helps them. It helps me as a fan watching the game. I actually enjoy the crowd noise, it makes it feel more normal,” said former Pittsburgh Steeler Chris Hoke. The two-time Super Bowl champion said 2020 is a...
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh running back James Conner believes he’ll be able to play on his balky left ankle on Sunday when the Steelers host Denver in their home opener. Conner left a season-opening win over the New York Giants on Monday in the first half after something “wasn’t feeling right.” The fourth-year pro said Friday he reviewed the tape and couldn’t pick out exactly when it happened but it became apparent in the second quarter that he couldn’t put weight on it. He finished with just 9 yards rushing on six carries and 8 yards receiving on a pair of dump-offs from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers held Conner out of practice on Wednesday, but he was a...
The decision by the Pittsburgh Steelers to honor a teen fatally shot by a police officer and allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting appears to have created disruption and controversy. Two Steelers players have already declared that they will not pay tribute to the Antwon Rose Jr., and now another Pittsburgh player revealed that management decided who the players would honor on their helmet. Previously, the team said that players and coaches were united on the name that would be written on the back of helmets, but it seems that might not have been the case. During a Zoom call with media on Thursday, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was asked about the team's decision to use helmets to...

The Pittsburgh Steelers players have begun to speak out after honoring Antwon Rose, a man killed by police in 2018, with a helmet decal Monday. Players are now saying the team did not vote on the name after it came to light that Rose had been suspected of involvement in a drive-by shooting at the time of his death, according to an article published by CBSSports. The team debuted his name during Monday’s game against the New York Giants. Center Maurkice Pouncey became the second player to decide to take the name off of his helmet. On Monday September 14 the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that all of the team’s players would be wearing Antwon Rose Jr. decals on their helmets this season. Rose was a Black teenager who died after he was shot in the back three times by a white East Pittsburgh police officer in 2018. Then OT Alejandro Villenueva called an audible and covered the Antwon Rose Jr. decal on his helmet during Monday night’s 26-16 victory over the New York Giants. Instead Villenueva chose to display the name of Alwyn...
The return of veteran Ben Roethlisberger was a huge positive for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. The former Super Bowl winner suffered an elbow injury in the opening stages last year, which ruled him out for the rest of the season. He returned to the lineup on Monday and led the Steelers to a comfortable 26-16 win over the New York Giants. After a shaky start to the game, the Steelers slowly began to take control of things at the MetLife Stadium and Coach Mike Tomlin will be happy with the result. However, there were certain areas that the Steelers still need to work upon. Popular sports talk show host, Colin Cowherd, went on a lengthy rant on Tuesday...
Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey was the second player on the team to remove a name from the back of his helmet. Pouncey will not put the name of Antwon Rose Jr. on the back of his helmet after the team decided upon the move ahead of the season. Rose was shot and killed in 2018 by a Pittsburgh police officer. Pouncey released a statement Thursday explaining his decision. EX-NFL LINEMAN HOPES PEOPLE DEFEND STEELERS' ALEJANDRO VILLANUEVA AFTER STIR OVER HELMET DECAL “I want to personally clarify what transpired this past Monday night in regard to having Antwon Rose’s name on the back of my helmet,” he wrote. “I was given limited information on the situation regarding Antwon, and I...
Pittsburgh Steelers center and co-captain Maurkice Pouncey announced that he would decide whose name is on the back of his helmet, not who the Steelers or the NFL tell him to honor. Pouncey is going against the league, which is honoring a victim of a police shooting, who was also reportedly involved in a drive-by shooting. On Monday, the Steelers announced that every player would wear a helmet decal honoring Antwon Rose Jr. "This year the NFL is allowing players to wear helmet decals to honor victims of systemic racism," the Steelers website stated. "Players could select the name of an individual to wear on their helmet and the Steelers players and coaches united as one to wear...
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The pain was familiar to Ben Roethlisberger. Welcome even. And the best part about how his 38-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback’s body felt following his first game in 364 days might have been the fact none of the pain originated from his surgically repaired right elbow. Roethlisberger is hopeful the saga of his extended comeback came to an end in northern New Jersey last Monday, when he tossed three touchdowns in a relatively solid and mistake-free 26-16 victory over the New York Giants. From here on out, he expects the focus to be on football, though that may be impossible heading into Pittsburgh’s home opener against Denver (0-1) on Sunday. (For more in-depth coverage of the...
PITTSBURGH (AP/KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Steelers thought they had a plan for how to properly and respectfully make a public statement regarding social justice during their season opener against the New York Giants. Someone called an audible. Multiple someones, actually, leaving the organization scrambling to fix the message ahead of its home opener on Sunday against Denver. (Photo Credit: Pittsburgh Steelers) Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said Thursday the decision to put the name of a Black teenager shot in the back and killed by a white East Pittsburgh police officer on the back of each player’s helmet on Monday night was made by the front office and not the players. “We knew we were going to have somebody on the back...
Steelers offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey announced on Thursday that he would make his own choice as to what name he would place on the back of his helmet as part of the team’s social justice initative. He is the second player on the team to break from the decision to honor Antwon Rose Jr., who in 2018 was shot and killed by Pittsburgh police. Pouncey, a known advocate for police communities in Pittsburgh and his hometown of Lakeland, Fla., addressed police directly in his statement, saying he “inadvertently supported a cause which I did not fully comprehend.” “Make no mistake, I am against racism and I believe the best thing I can do is to continue helping.” MORE:...

(KDKA) —  The Pittsburgh Steelers relied on a stout defense and a strong running game in their Week 1 win over the New York Giants. The defense allowed the usually dynamic Saquon Barkley a grand total of six yards on 15 carries. They also harassed Giants quarterback Daniel Jones into a pair of interceptions, which the Steelers turned into 10 points. On offense, backup running back Benny Snell racked up 113 yards on his 19 carries in place of James Conner. More importantly, Week 1 also marked quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s return to action. Big Ben, who last stepped under center in September 2019, missed most of the season with an elbow injury. He contributed three touchdowns and 229 yards on...

By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Steelers will play their first game in front of fans this season in Tennessee next month. The Tennessee Titans announced Thursday that Nissan Stadium will be open at limited capacity beginning Oct. 4 in their game against the Steelers. It’ll be open to season ticket members up to 10 percent of the stadium’s capacity, which is about 7,000 fans. After that, Nissan Stadium will continue to gradually increase capacity until 21 percent, which is the maximum capacity the Titans say they can release under CDC guidelines. Here in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are playing their first two home games in an empty stadium, and there were no fans for their season opener...
