CHICAGO (CBS) — This Saturday will at 6 p.m. will be the final mass at St. Maurice Catholic Church in the Southwest Side’s McKinley Park neighborhood. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, only 60 people are allowed to attend – and it is already sold out. A decision to close the church at 3615 S. Hoyne Ave. was made back in August. The reason is the church’s large debt, repairs that are needed, and diminishing attendance.

Currently, construction is ongoing Monday through Saturday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with an enforced speed limit of 50 mph throughout the work zone. The 55-hour lane closures will be limited to Friday through Monday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., in hopes of minimizing traffic impacts. From Friday, September 25, at 10 p.m. to Monday, September...

One of Denver's signature rites of fall is visiting a roadside stand to stock up on roasted chiles for the winter — and then, back home, hunching over the kitchen counter for hours, ideally with plenty of cold beers on hand, peeling and seeding the deep-green pods to prepare them for the freezer. No matter how long the process takes or how many beers you consume, the result — a few bulging Ziploc bags — never seems like enough. That brimming basket or mesh sack you picked out at your favorite stall or market looked so big when you bought it, and the plastic bag you got from the roaster felt ready to burst and spill its hot, smoky...

So, with pre-sold tickets, guests can get their fair food fixes – Fletcher’s corny dogs, Jack’s fries, and cotton candy among them – during select weekends in September and October. Smokey John’s Bar-B-Que is one of the 8 vendors and will sell add-ons sausage-on-a-stick and turkey legs. “We’re excited about it....

The three items in question Abrams called out were: Trump “encourag[ing] people again to engage in voter fraud,” reporting on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s wife using department staff for personal errands, and reporting that Attorney General Bill Barr may produce some kind of “interim report” before the election on the work of John Durham investigating the origins of...

Liu Yifei stars in Disney's "Mulan."Disney For months, "Tenet" and "Mulan" have been the center of Hollywood's attention.  The films from Warner Bros. and Disney, respectively, were meant to represent a return to normal. However, neither film has quite embodied that hope.  Going forward, every weekend at the box office will be an important weekend. Yet, the stakes for this weekend seem particularly high. "Tenet" had a solid start internationally, generating $53 million in its August debut. In the U.S., the film's opening was more muted, around $20 million. While this was the largest domestic haul for a new film release since the pandemic shuttered theaters, it was hardly an overwhelming sign that the box office was back in business. ...
