A Scottish man has revealed how he 'bonded straight away' with the stray kitten he saved in Bosnia and has since taken the animal on a worldwide tour.  Dean Nicholson, 31, from Dunbar, had given up his job as a welder and decided to travel the world, when he came across a tiny starving cat, who quickly climbed onto his bike and fell asleep on his shoulder.  After adopting the feline and calling her Nala, Dean took his new companion on a 21 country tour over the course of two years, and has penned a book of his adventures titled Nala's World.  Appearing on Lorraine today, Dean explained his life has changed for the better since meeting Nala that the...
Once upon a time, Chad Johnson (or was he Ochocinco) challenged a race horse. While giving himself a head start, the Bengals star wide receiver won the race, proving that man can be faster than beast with a predetermined advantage.  Johnson wouldn’t have held up in a fair race against many of the players in the modern NFL, though. Guys like Tyreek Hill, Raheem Mostert and even Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray display more apparent on-field speed than maybe anyone in NFL history. If not for high definition, they’d be blurs on our television screens. But who’s really the fastest player in the NFL? It’s too bad the Pro Bowl doesn’t have it’s fastest man competition anymore. The fastest...

Losing Ken Giles for the season was a massive blow to Toronto’s bullpen but they’ve found success with a combination of Anthony Bass and Rafael Dolis closing games. But for the Blue Jays to go far in the postseason they’ll need to continue to hit home runs, currently ranked 9th in homers. Their pitching has been alright but it’ll be their offense that leads them to success this fall. 13 St. Louis Cardinals Record: 30-28 Tied for 2nd in NL Central It’s the end of the season...
The modern NFL has provided some of the best fantasy football seasons ever. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson possess the two highest scoring QB seasons of all time. Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham have been two of the greatest statistical tight ends ever. But even while it feels like there’s been an offensive proliferation, it can be hard to grasp just how much the NFL’s new rules and talented players have impacted fantasy football. Ever want to answer the question: Who’s the best fantasy football player ever? Now you can. We’ve broken down top single-season fantasy performances by position, using Football Reference’s Season Finder tool. Along with listing total fantasy points, we also listed some of the relevant statistics...
Michael Vick, Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky all have something in common – they’ve had a few of the greatest fantasy football single-game quarterback performances of all time. Most fantasy owners probably have fond memories of one particularly huge game by one of their players, or a monster game from that cost you a win in a given week. To look back on some of those, we’ve laid out the top-10 fantasy games ever, broken down by position (QB, RB, WR, TE, Kicker).  Our data comes from Football Reference’s Game Finder tool. We set our parameters to date back to the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, so Otto Graham and Jim Brown won’t make the list. But a few old-timers...
A judge denied Democratic donor Ed Buck's request to be released on Friday, claiming he posed a danger to the community.  U.S. Magistrate Judge Rozella A. Oliver said that the conditions presented by Buck's attorney were 'insufficient' to ensure that the embattled donor would show at trial, KCAL reports.  Oliver also said that Buck's legal team failed to show how the medical staff at the Metropolitan Detention Center were incapable of handling their client's medical needs, after the defense expressed concern with Buck getting COVID-19.  She added that he did not appear to have any medical conditions that seemed to put him at risk for catching the virus at 66 years of age.    U.S. Magistrate Judge Rozella A. The number of Americans hospitalized for alcoholism has risen over the last two decades, a new study suggests. Researchers found a 3.5 percent drop from around 274,000 hospitalizations for alcohol use disorder in 1998 to about 284,000 hospitalizations in 2016. However, there has been a significant decrease in in-hospital mortality rates from the disorder over the past 20 years, by about one-third. The team, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, attributes the decreases in death to a better understanding of - and how to treat- the brain disorder that affects millions in the US. Pictured: Jeannie McGinnis, 48, from Sheffield, who has been unable to shake of illness after first showing symptoms of Covid-19 in March At first, it all seemed so clear-cut.  Some – a small minority – suffered severe symptoms. Older people, those with other health problems and, intriguingly, men were more at risk. But the overwhelming majority of those struck by Covid-19 would experience only 'a mild illness'. Now, almost nine months since the virus first hit Britain, a far more complex picture is beginning to emerge. While officials say the infection lasts about two weeks for most people, thousands of corona survivors are reporting a long-lasting, debilitating illness. Many Covid 'long-haulers', as they describe themselves, have faced a relentless...

If you had to guess which town has reported seeing more than 500 bears this year, which one would it be? One might assume a rural community would have the most bear sightings, but bears have increasingly been making their way into cities and busy towns searching for food. In Connecticut, the town that has seen the most bears so far this year is Simsbury with 505 sightings reported to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection through Sept. 10. Lost to time and disorganization, former ABA players struggle to make ends meet without the pension promised in the NBA merger. It’s time for the league to resolve the situation. A measly $16. Roughly 0.04 percent of what the median-salaried NBA player makes on a nightly basis. It’s less than two postgame Chipotle burritos (sans guacamole) or about the equivalent of sitting inside 1OAK for 20 minutes without actually ordering anything. That’s the share of each game check it would take to fund the annual pensions of every surviving ABA player. When the competing leagues struck the deal in Hyannis in 1976 to fold four teams into the NBA bouillabaisse, it assured pensions for all those who didn’t make the merger....

Police responded to an assault call and, officers say, there was a physical confrontation with the suspect, which ended with one of the cops shooting 24-year-old Jamar Clark. But according to witnesses, Clark was handcuffed and pinned to the ground when he was fatally shot in the head. Every four years, during the procedural announcement of delegate vote tallies at both parties’ nominating conventions, Americans are reminded of something I’m sure the vast majority of them forget all about in between conventions: the very existence of the five unincorporated United States territories–Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Territories that are under United States sovereignty, inhabited by about 3.5 million people who are United States citizens and nationals, but, inexplicably, will have no right to vote for the president come November.
